Could someone please take a look at the code in the xml and see if they can find a fix for the Sub-Forum icons not showing and post it up, as DW doesn't seem to be wanting to help out.

Subforum icons were never added to this mod. If and when I have time I will look into it....

Yet up until 4.1.10 when you had a Subforum you could have an icon for it, I am not talking about on the main Forum page, when you clicked on a Forum which had a sub forum, the icon would show within that Forum for the sub forum.

I fully understand about the sub forum icons not showing on the main Forum home page, but within a Forum from the main Forum Home page , the sub forums did have icons before, so this was added from day one with this mod.
This stopped working for 4.1.10 onward.

So this mod is no longer working as it was, there must have been some slight code change in a Template for 4.1.10 and above.
I am sure a lot of us would appreciate If and when you have time to update this mod.

Im on vB 4.1.12. Works Version 1.2.4 oder 2.0.0?

It works great on 4.1.12 too, but it just needs the Sub-Cat icons to work/show the same as it did before 4.1.10.

Good mod, but after following the instructions on installing install.html, I have a problem with the way the mod called images, not identifying its extension (png,gif, etc...).

I can't seem to find this question in this thread anywhere, but can this also be used for the new standard mobile style? That style currently has a very limited set of Style Vars, which does not include the files required for the manual FCI-edit. Thanks!

I have created my picture size of width 400px & hight of 63px with the maximum opacity (10%) to create a backdrop picture that spans all the forum section. Whilst this looks great im unable to click the forum link text to read the forum. Is there any work around for this?

Is there perhaps a way of adding z-index as a work around?

Dark_Wizard, would you try to have a look and see why it doesn't show for Sub Forum icons within an actual Forum as per it did before 4.1.10 please.
There must have been some code changes for the Templates for the Sub Forums after 4.1.10 I'd think, that's why it stopped working.

I think another coder should make a new version of this, one that works for anything above 4.1.10

I'll be working on it this weekend, have to update one of my forums first to see what is going on.

It works fine with 4.1.12.

I know it even does with 4.2.0 But before 4.1.10 all Subforums also showed images when set, after 4.1.10 they don't.
That's what I'd like and many more who have posted the same would.

I just installed this on 4.1.12 and it works great. I had to use the manual install but I'm sure that's due to my custom templates.

One thing that seemed rather odd: I only see the icon option in the Forum Manager when I am creating a new forum. It does not show up for existing forums. Is this a bug or by design? My site is still in the development phase so it's not a big deal as I can recreate the forums without losing posts but it may be an issue for existing sites.

One other thing: Because you cannot see the icon option on existing forums this means that once you assign an icon you cannot change it unless you rename the icon and name a new one with the old icon name.

I think we are all going around in circles with our posts about the mod.

It's like I said a few pages back.
This mod works great, all versions of vB including the latest 4.2.0 Beta.

But from 4.1.10 this mod stopped showing images for Sub Forums.
I don't mean on the MAIN Forum page, as the icon shown for Sub Forums there is just a very small icon.
But when you click on a forum category which has a Sub Forum in it, the icon within that sill not show the custom icon you set for it, this is from 4.1.10 and after.

And that's about it, this modification wok on all vB Forums right up t0 4.2.0 But the Subforums stopped showing the icons you set them to show from 4,1,10, before they did, as I have a 4,1,3 forum working showing this and then a test forum at 4.1.12 and 4.2.0 showing they stopped the icons.

I just created a forum and assigned an icon to it. That worked fine. Then I created a sub forum and tied it to the first forum and assigned an icon to the sub forum with this mod and that also worked. And this is in 4.1.12

So I don't know why you're having problems.


BY the way...my prior post was incorrect. I can see the icon option on existing forums that were created after this mod was installed. Older forums will not show the icon option if they were created prior to installing this mod. This is certainly understandable.

Again...great mod!

I forgot to tell you that the sub forum is under the "Flash forum". Click on that to see the sub forum

In the forum manager. When creating or editing a forum you specify the Parent Forum in the first section.

You will see a Forum called: vBulletin Announcements
Then you will see this Sub Forums attached within that Forum such as:
eBulletins & Press Releases

Those Sub-Forum icons are the ones which stopped showing custom icons after 4,1,10, before 4,1,10 the icons you had added would show, now they don't.

This is what I have been talking about for weeks if not months now.
It can't be a big thing, just some kind of Template code change or hook or something after 4.1.10 came out, I just wish it could get fixed
