I apologize if this has already been asked, I am way to lazy to go through 38 pages.

Does 5.3.1 allow automated pruning of shouts older then x amount of time?

With the additional features is it a heavier load on the server then older versions (say 4.1.2)?

Has this query been optimized? http://pastebin.com/RYeXmF7y

Thank you in advanced!
And thank you for the wonderful mod.

DragonByte Tech 08-24-2010 01:23 AM

v5.3 has been optimised in many ways :)

Automatic pruning is a Pro-only feature.

DragonByte Tech 08-24-2010 05:23 PM

Thank you mate, I will try to do few more tweaks and see if I get lucky . lol

DragonByte Tech 08-30-2010 04:27 PM

A security vulnerability that exposes users' private shout messages has been identified and fixed.

To patch this, re-download the zip and re-upload all files. It is not needed to re-import the XML file.

I'm pretty sure it already been asked but I can't find it in all those pages.

I tried to make shoutbox deployment on all pages. When I display the shoutbox after navbar, it works, but when I put it above footer it only appear in my forum home. Any solutions? Is there maybe any template I can edit so it appear above footer on everypage ?

Thanks, it's a really nice mod and I try to make it accessible as much as I can

DragonByte Tech 08-30-2010 04:41 PM

Custom skins may have problems with the automatic deployment. Please switch to manual deployment and follow the other instructions next to the settings.

Fillip

aesbum 08-30-2010 04:52 PM

I don't have custom skins. I use the default style coming with vb 4.0.3.

Is there a way to change the text size in the shoutbox?... it's too small by default

Footman 09-08-2010 10:50 AM

Curious... this may have been addressed earlier, but is there a sound notification when someone posts a shout? I'm not hearing one and I have the "enable sounds" checked to yes in options. Any thoughts?

thanx

The Pro version allows you to change the text size on a per-user basis, but beyond that the default font size is controlled by vBulletin.

If you are having problems with sound, please follow this check-list:

1)
Did you select a sound to be played in the Instance Manager?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Instance Management -> [Edit] -> Shout Sound / Invite Sound / PM Sound

2) Are sounds turned on?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Settings -> Enable Sounds

3) !!!Pro Only!!! Are sounds turned on in the UserCP?
UserCP -> Shoutbox -> Shoutbox Settings -> Shout Sounds / Invite Sounds / PM Sounds

4) Is the QuickTime browser plugin installed?
QuickTime Plugin- Please note that you need to restart your browser after installing the plugin.

5)
Does it work in other browsers?
If you only have one browser on your computer (Internet Explorer) you should try out Firefox.

6) Is the following text present in the source of the page: <embed ?
Right click -> View Source -> Ctrl+F -> <embed
If this is not found, and all the above steps are completed, then you may have an out of date template. Please revert any customisations to dbtech_vbshout_shoutbox

If none of the above steps fix it for you, then it's a browser issue that we are unfortunately unable to assist with.

Is there a way to delete the archive after a specific time ?

Any ideas why private rooms do not work for users ?
If i invite them they get no message,...

Thanks in advance

DragonByte Tech 09-08-2010 03:41 PM

Timed auto-deletion of Archive is a Pro-only feature.

I've not been able to find any problems with chatrooms on any test board I have access to :(

jrap 09-08-2010 05:06 PM

Many thanks for this!

I'm also one of the folks that would love a widget for the CMS :)

Thanks Fillip, all of the above are set appropriately except for number 6. I do not have the text <embed in the source page where vBShout is. But I also do not have any customizations to the template dbtech_vbshout_shoutbox. Perhaps I should reupload the package?

I am using Firefox on a Mac. Tried with Safari and Opera as well. A member also mentioned it to me. Not sure what browser he's using.

DragonByte Tech 09-09-2010 03:19 PM

I've been unable to find any solution beyond what was described in the previous post, which is why it wasn't in the post in the first place :p
Anything further would be pure guesswork.

One such guess is that in some occasions, other plugins incorrectly use the process_templates_complete plugin hook and thus cause a design flaw in vBulletin to be triggered.
You could also try disabling all other plugins and see if the steps above works for you then.

Fillip

Footman 09-10-2010 11:52 AM

Thanx Fillip - Appreciate the effort. When I get more free time I'll try to disable the other plugins (there are a lot of them) and see what happens...

Zombo 09-16-2010 10:57 AM

did you update again?

vBulletin.org marks this as updated but the version is still the same... (5.3.1)

DragonByte Tech 09-17-2010 09:46 AM

There's been no further update as of yet. I will always post here and also send out an update email when it's been updated, unless it's a minor patch that doesn't address any critical problems.

How can I set this shoutbox to bellow of the forum?

DragonByte Tech 09-17-2010 03:11 PM

Instance Management -> Edit.

Is there any way to have it collapsed as default?

PreciseDemise 09-17-2010 05:35 PM

Is it possible to move the chat box from directly below the NavBar to beneath the notices? I tried using the {vb:raw vbshout} tag but to no discernible effect ...

Ideally I'd like it in-line with the sidebar just above the first forum group. I believe I have found where to add, just after the "<!-- main -->" comment in ForumHome template.

You'll need to do more than just the vbshout tag, please follow the instructions on the Edit page of the instance you want to position manually.

Hi, really like the shoutbox and I finally managed to get it placed on our homepage/cms page but we have a small bug. With the shoutbox on the frontpage it always shows you as being on the forum page in the navbar (see pic) If I disable the shoutbox the navbar works fine.
Its not a big issue as you can get to the homepage but little things like this niggle me so I had to post.
Anyways hope you can fix it, this shoutbox is much better than gcbos version.
Regards
D3v

Ill look into it for the next version :)

dazkeirle 09-20-2010 06:37 PM

Unfortunately another user with issues.

Getting the Loading... screen.

It appears my VB is generating a JS error though:

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Security Manager vetoed action" nsresult: "0x80570027 (NS_ERROR_XPC_SECURITY_MANAGER_VETO)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://smarterwiki/content/smarterwiki.js :: anonymous :: line 1152" data: no]

Could this have something to do with it?

Never had any issues with any other plugins like this though...

Googled a lot and found other random people with same error, same issue, no resolution seems strange.

Error can be seen on www.mygreatphone.com/forum , have had to disable vbshout though as it doesn't work :(

DragonByte Tech 09-20-2010 08:30 PM

I've never seen that before, don't think there's much I can do about it, though I can look around.

Fillip

dazkeirle 09-20-2010 09:44 PM

ok cheers,

I'm certainly not the only person to get the loading issue though, google is littered with examples just usually people dont bother to run the error console.

Could be unrated, or could be the issue, either way this mod doesn't work for me in the following environment:

Vbulletin 4, only VBSEO addon (no others), template changes : Adwords, facebook iframe.

Shame as looks to be a nice mod.

Are you refering to this ..?
Quote:

Manually Display Shoutbox
This setting controls which templates show the Shoutbox.
You need to add the following text to the templates you input here:

{vb:raw vbshout}

Separate each template name with a comma.
Please help me find what I'm missing ...
Default settings ...
Auto Display: Above NavBar
Shoutbox Deployment: index
Manual Placement: (blank)

Works fine (no surprise)

Custom Settings ...
Auto Display: Disabled
Shoutbox Deployment: index
Template: FORUMHOME
Code:

        <!-- main -->
                {vb:raw vbshout}
        {vb:raw template_hook.forumhome_above_forums}

Naff all. Two things I'm trying to achieve ... (see attached)
