You are using PHP4 without error displaying, right? Please check your PHP version or at least, turn of the error displaying flag (via php.ini)

Currently working on other features so the file is not clean so consider going to http://domain.com/forums/admincp/opt...al&sdo=options (vBulletin Options > General Settings). Look for Add Template Name in HTML Comments and turn if off.

Everything seems to be working fine all of the sudden. I think that there is some delay with information from time to time.

Yes, it's php 4.3.9. Sorry, I wasn't aware my php was so outdated. I'll update it and will try reinstalling this mod.

I just heard FB is getting rid of app-to-user notifications and replacing user-to-user with private messages... When this does happen do you plan to update the mod to work with the new stuff?

My navbar is also pretty heavily modified. I did this search an navbar still showed up... but the facebook connect button still does not shot up in my navbar. What code do I need to insert in my navbar to have it showup?

I had this same error, but had php5. I was able to fix it by going into my cpanel. Evidently my host had upgraded, but still allowed things to be processed in php4. I had to change that setting and it worked!

When a FB user registers on my forum via FBConnect, their avatar is NOT imported.

Everything else seems fine...but no avatar. Its a "vanilla" install. I see there is a setting to change the number of avatars imported...I left it at its default.

Their avatar DOES display during the registration process...but it doesnt seem to save to my forum/server.

Any ideas?

And if you figure out the issue, how can I "resync" the user accounts that have been created via FBConnect so that their avatars show up?

So let me get this straight. If I install this hack, anybody with a Facebook account can log onto my forum, even if they happen to be already banned previously.

Depends on how you banned them.

If they try and link a banned account to the Facebook account they will still be banned. Trying to create a new account will be covered by the same rules and restrictions that people have to follow using normal registration, so if you blocked an email or IP at that level they will still be blocked.


Note: Email is conditional on if you select that the user must input a real email address and not use the Facebook proxy. Facebook proxy is consistent so you could also block registrations on that as well, or just force real email addresses.

if i disabled this mod in future, will new members who joined the forum through their FB accounts be still able to log in?

anyway to prevent new members from joining through their facebook accounts but only linking up their FB accounts AFTER they have registered through VB?

i can insist that a proper email be entered instead of the FB coded email being stored on my member db right?

Depends, but in most cases yes. By default the joining user is prompted to create a local password. This means that they can login without the Facebook connection at any time, provided they remember it.

Forcing a real email helps this as they will have a legitimate way of resetting their password.

what does the 'auto register' option do? i tried both and don't see a difference.

do ALL new members need to register a VB account after connecting via FB? cause i tried it and it seems to be so. kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?

my vb template also doesn't have the $template_hook[navbar_buttons_right]. how can i get the fbconnect button onto my navbar? i tried adding in the hook into my navbar template but i still don't see the button.

finally, do you think this will increase the load alot if i had 100k members? u foresee any problems?

As with all the Facebook connect mods that are currently out there for vB you need a local account to be created for administration purposes as well as the basic function of the forum. This mods keeps more of the registration process intact than others, and personally I prefer it this way as it allows registration mods to work along side the connection to Facebook.

The button will only show if you are logged out of the forum. If it is still not showing there may be another hook missing that you need...I would have to look at my code and see.

got it abt the registration part. and yes, i'm aware that the button only shows when logged out. i tried it using the default vb template and it shows but not in my custom template. cld u help me check what other hook is needed? tks alot!

I noticed that template bundles are being deprecated soon and being replaced with some new API calls. Will an update be released?

mrpaint, what is stored exactly in the fboptions field in the users table. Just had a look and the text is massive in there. I would have thought it would simply be some sort of delimited list of options?

can i get some clarifications on some settings? i don't quite understand their descriptions and what they do exactly:

Admincp FB Options:
1) Reply Notification - Old Posts Limit
2) Display Sharing Count
3) Auto Register

Usercp Options:
4) Display a Wall Tab/Profile Box in Facebook Profile page

Separate question: What am i supposed to see added to user's profile page when the 'Add to profile block' option is enabled? Is it just a block displaying 'recent facebook posts'?
