vBSEO 05-14-2010 07:17 AM

You can uninstall the product in admincp for that, and then reinstall it.

Silver_2000_)! 05-14-2010 12:39 PM

I uninstall-ed it and reinstalled it and set the task to run at 8 am and it doesn't seem to be working - it didnt send the email and the reports dont show in the reports view

vBSEO 05-18-2010 04:17 PM

Does it work correctly if you run generator directly via vbseo_sitemap/ interface?

Silver_2000_)! 05-18-2010 08:48 PM

looks like it started working after the uninstall and reinstall

THANKS

Hi Guys,

Great mod.

I've recently converted my biggest site from Apache to Nginx. I noticed in my error logs that SE bots can no longer find my sitemap files. Nginx does not utilize .htaccess files.

Are there any instructions or has anyone successfully created a rewrite line in their nginx.conf that works with this mod?

Thank you in advance!

Jester

Bachsau 06-19-2010 04:52 PM

vbseo_getsitemap.php -> Correct MIME-Type for plain text is text/plain NOT plain/text!

Additionaly when I disable gz-compression in vbseo_sitemap_config.php, the log shows off that one of the pings is still .xml.gz, which is wrong.

And after fixing this, could you please add an option to disable those log files?

You could use an alias instead of mod_rewrite. But I prefer to let it save those sitemap files to webroot directly. Just have a look at lines 22 and 25 of vbseo_sitemap_config.php.

For vBSEO 3.5x, you need to upgrade to vBSEO Sitemap 2.6 beta.

FitgirlWorld 07-02-2010 04:41 AM

Same here, Moreover and Yahoo ping have been failing for about a week or so.

Scalemotorcars 07-14-2010 03:02 AM

Moreover ping is still busted.

Isn't VBseo supporting this any longer?

iojam 07-14-2010 06:37 AM

Hello,

moreover has stopped their ping service, it will be removed in the next version of vBSEO sitemap generator.

BlackThorn 07-14-2010 06:36 PM

I get this error ;

"This is not registered a member profile. Please click here and return to homepage"

I'd guess sitemap mod do not see sitemap_index.xml.gz files

Scalemotorcars 07-16-2010 02:26 AM

Can you add other ping services. I'm no expert but there has to more important search engines then the top 5 or 6 listed.

inaka 07-18-2010 02:08 AM

This mod is great. Just wanted to say thanks.
INSTALLED.

inaka 07-18-2010 10:56 PM

Quick question, if one has vBadvanced installed and has created pages from vBadvanced that technically are not part of the forum, will these show up in the sitemap?

If not, is there a way to add static pages created by vBadvanced or something else to the sitemap?

All of the pages I created in vBadvanced have links in my forum header to those pages, so if the sitemap scans the forum code, it will find them. But I just wanted to clarify this, thanks.

appsfinder 07-21-2010 11:12 AM

hi moved forum to root but when i look at the output xml file its says

<sitemap>
<loc>http://www.mysite.com/sitemap_1.xml.gz</loc>
<lastmod>2010-07-21T00:39:22+00:00</lastmod>

xml 07-23-2010 12:05 AM

does it work with vbulletin4?

iojam 07-24-2010 06:32 AM

appsfinder,

make sure that you updated forums URL in vB admincp options, and then regenerated sitemap.

xml,

this version is not compatible with vB4.

slinky 08-13-2010 12:52 AM

How often do you guys run the sitemap generator? My site has over 100,000 posts and I have like 50 files that appear to 456 MB each... compressed... created each day! That's a lot of work and storage space to do daily. What are the benefits of this? It seems like a horrible shame that there isn't any way to incrementally update sitemaps. How do you guys manage your sitemaps?

Inferno Dragon 08-17-2010 07:48 AM

i got this error after installing when i run Schedule Task Everytime This Error Comes up.Please tell Me How To Fix.

It almost looks as though you have chosen to use the vBA Links addon module when you don't actually have vBA Links installed.

Great Mod,

I get this in the admincp:

This area is password protected.

Enter your "vBSEO Sitemap Interface Access Password" from admincp:

what now?

parscloob 09-11-2010 10:31 AM

all ok but ... for non-english forum threads links is ok, but forums (and subforums) links comes short (like http://www.forum.com/a-23/ instead of that forum link) when access that link redirect to forum link.

BigJohnny 09-16-2010 09:18 PM

I cannot get this thing to create the sitemap files outside of the data folder.

I want it to make the sitemap.xml.gz files in my sites root, not the forum root. I want them at domain.com instead of domain.com/Forums/ but in either case the files themselves still never get generated outside of their default folder no matter what I change.

it also doesn't generate a urllist.txt

what am I doing wrong?

BigJohnny 09-18-2010 11:58 AM

my stupidity, I didn't understand how the .htacess file was supposed to work.
got'er now.

cdoyle 09-19-2010 07:48 PM

Hi,
We had this running on our 3.8 forum, and it worked great. But our host upgraded their PHP and we had to get the latest version of VB.

Is there a 4.0x version of this? If not, any plans on making one?

Thanks
Chris

onealien 09-25-2010 07:02 PM

installed and working great...setup was below average difficulty...

hope to see results soon...

thanks!

garyopa 10-08-2010 03:08 AM

I been banging my head on the wall for 5 hours, trying to get this plugin to work on my server

And nothing, always the sitemap url's were not mapped correctly, and I had my .htaccess file setup fine.

Finally I came across this post:

Quote:

As a temporary fix, please try this:

in vbseo_getsitemap.php

find

Code:

error_reporting(E_ALL&~E_NOTICE);
replace with

Code:

@error_reporting(E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE ^ E_DEPRECATED);

This save me, it should be added to the TOP post in this thread, until v2.6 is released.

This is major problem for most people on today's new servers with the latest PHP system.

See here for the original thread, that saved my day:

http://www.vbseo.com/f67/vbseo-sitem...66/#post252157

This will stop people with messing with their .htaccess and manually copying the files from the /data directory into the forum directory, what a funny bug.

Too bad no one is answering people on how to fix it correctly!

I me posting this will helps some other people out!

Forgive me if these are dumb questions but...

If this wasn't properly configured could it hurt SEO at all? I see it says Google limits it to 50,000 URL's but I like many forums have far more than 50,000 pages of threads and each page is its own URL- what will happen to threads not included in the site map- will they get removed from Google?

Thanks

The 50,000 limit is PER sitemap, i have tons of urls, so i limited mine to 10,000 per sitemap and have over 1,000 sitemaps, just install this, set it up and forget it :), yesterday's sitemap submitted 11+ million urls in over 1,000 sitemaps ;)

Thanks :)

Every night I am getting a database error, I have vBadvanced Links directory installed so I have the links directory plugin configured.... the database error is:
Code:

Invalid SQL:
SELECT * FROM ju_links_categories WHERE private = 0;

MySQL Error  : Table 'juotnet_juforum.ju_links_categories' doesn't exist
Error Number  : 1146
Request Date  : Thursday, October 14th 2010 @ 02:02:12 AM
Error Date    : Thursday, October 14th 2010 @ 02:02:13 AM

"ju_" is my table prefix but I don't have a table called ju_links_categories... the correct name seems to be: ju_adv_links_categories I assume I can just update the links director plugin php file...

iojam 10-15-2010 12:45 PM

Hello,

looks like your version of vBa Links is not compatible with add-on, you would need to disable that sitemap generator add-on.
