Thanks for the addon!

Question 1

I have @ 90 small avi clips hosted on my server and would like to use the mod for them. Is there a avi xml? Other wise I will need to convert them to another format, or is this statement incorrect?

Question 2

I have got the You Tube site working with out any glitches but when trying to get local hosted files to play I have not had any luck. I have attached what I have set all 5 local files to. I have marked up the attached photo with my settings, could someone take a look and see if I have done something incorrect. I have changed the folder that I have the videos in to chmd 777 also

Thanx in Advance!

Hi, i wonder why raw vegas dont work? Im running vb 3.7

Vitaly 10-17-2008 11:27 AM

Just an idea. Google Maps URL can be also converted to embedded object. Just change "source" -> "output" in posted URL, prior to embed into iframe.

Will post solution after 1 moth, if nobody do it before. No time to implement now. Still in progress of migration IPB -> vBulletin :)

forte 10-18-2008 01:43 PM

Made a definition for recorded videos in Ustream.tv. I think i didnt make any mistakes as it is working properly for my forum.

For some reason the Vimeo code no longer works for me, I paste the link on my site http://vimeo.com/2025297 and it just shows the link and no video. Does this need updating ?

Edit: My forum mod has sussed it out for me, the www needs to be removed from the regular expression.
Code:

http://vimeo\.com/([0-9]+)[&\w;=?+_\-%\/]*

sweeps78 10-21-2008 02:16 PM

I see there are definitions for locally hosted videos, but will any of these definitions allow my members to embed videos that they are hosting on their own servers?

Digital Jedi 10-22-2008 02:33 AM

Hey Gang. Sorry I've been away. Had a lot to do over the last few weeks and still trying to catch up. You know how it gets sometimes. I'll try to take care of all your issues as soon as I can.

I'll have to give it a look. But in the meantime, post the links to the videos not working.

If you can manage to make it work, that would be great. The problem I had, though, was not being able to backreference the pertinent data.

Not so much removed, but more like it needs to be accounted for. There's more then one way to access Vimeo and those that do get their with the www will need it to remain. This will be addressed in the next update.

Locally Hosted means just that; video hosted on the local domain. For other member's sites to work, you'd need a definition for each of their websites.

I know this was a little while back, but do you still have the problem? I've worked on so many the last month, I don't recall if this is one problem I already addressed for the next udpate. But if it is a definition problem, it's been address for that release.

EDIT

Ok, it only does that on certian albums and only on the forums, because when I log in on the site or even click the expandable window, it goes to the full songs within the play list. Is it just an error in the play list coding, or does Imeem hate me?

It depends on the song, most likely. Try to avoid embeding songs that have an expiration date, like from temp playlists (presuming they still do this). Mostly, it's just Imeem's funny coding practices. Although, I do have another update coming for them, so maybe this will address some of your issues.

Any ideas? Thanks in advice :up:

I'm not certain, but I believe it depends on your version of AME. I'm trying to answer questions pretty fast since I'm back up here, so I didn't quite look back to what your problem was. But most of the time, changes I've made to definitons have adjusted older posts. There's also of the issue of chached pages, which can depend on your site and on the version of AME your running.

first off, awsome work:).

secondly, i wanted to ask a few basic things, sorry for my being too illiterate in this field:)

I have downloaded and installed "The Geek's" AME2.0.2 Mod a few days back.

But the following link doesnt work in it. Meaning, my user posted it and it appeared as a link and not the video clip:

http://blip.tv/file/get/BrassTacks-ep5257.flv

you can refer to the thread where he posted at :

http://www.familybunker.com/forums/s...1480#post21480

Now I am a bit confused whether AMR2.0.2 provides URL embedding for all the 170 sites he mentioned, or am i supposed to download your mod and install it. Would it workd with the AME2.0.2? or should i first un-install that and then install yours?

I am sorry if i am asking too much obvious questions....but can you help please?

thanx

These are the definitions for the AME modification, so you'd have to import these through its built in import system to get support for the 170 sites. AME only comes with a handful of default supported sites to keep it lite. The import system allows for people like me to keep adding support for new sites, without the author having to do it himself and constantly upating, which is why (for the moment) we're way ahead of passiVid in terms of supported sites. Anyone can make a definition if they know what they're doing.

Your trying to use the source URL for Blip. You don't need to do that. Just use the link to the page the video is on, just like you would if you where posting the link to the video otherwise.

I am on vb3.7.3

following is the link to the thread where i am trying to post the video:

http://www.familybunker.com/forums/s...1518#post21518

what is the reason?

Also, i wanted to know that i have installed the MAster file.
do i need to separately install the other zip folders too?

please advice..

The Master XML is if you want to install all the supported definitions at one time.
The ZIP File is for those who want to pick and choose which sites to add.
Local Hosted is a seperate Zip file for video your hosting on your personal site.

Sorry, because the quoted message, it's not showing correctly on this post...

I actually don't know what causes that, for sure. It only happens to me when I edit the video. Are you getting it when posted as new? If so, I may have to do something drastic for GameSpot.

You deleted the thread, so I can't check for you what you where doing. However, the Local Hosted are for specific media types: Flash, WMV, DIVX etc. It looks like you have your own embed code, so a special definition for your site would be required.

http://www.myvideo.de/watch/482082

When I use the complete link with title http://www.myvideo.de/watch/482082/T...Rwy_16_Zuerich it shows up a player, but not with the clip which is in the title, although the link in top of the player links directly to the correct movie :(

Any suggestions what to modify? Did I make somthing wrong? I used the last XMLs I could find.....

Possibly a change in the sites URL string. I "think" I just did an update for them on the last run through, but I'll have to check to be sure. Look for them on the next update.

Thx in advance !

I'm afraid that is soley a GameSpot problem. I tested their embed code on a regular HTML page and got the same problem. I did a random Google search, and even videos posted on blogs and websites have the "undefined" problem. It's not related to the RegEx, it's something GameSpot is going to have to fix with their media.

As mentioned in the first post, this will not embed attachments. You need to post the physical location of the video, complete with it's media extention, like .flv, .wmv, .divx, etc. AME determines what to embed based on those unique identifiers, which is why it won't work with attachements, becasuse they all have the same URL string, like www.yoursite.com/attachment.php?123456. AME has now way of knowing if if that's a media attachment or a PDF file or a picture, much less which type of video it might be.

At one time, I tried making a AVI definition, but never got it working, and figured not too many people would be looking for one, so I abandoned it. You'd probably be better off converting them if you can. I believe DIVX has some tools to do so.

You don't need to do anything to the key, what you havn't done is change YOUR_SITE_NAME_HERE in the Regular Expression. Put your domain name in, just without the .com or .co.uk or however whatever your domain extention is.

ArnyVee 10-23-2008 03:42 AM

So, I imported these and they seem to be working. But, the Amazon links (even after changing the 'tag=' to my own) are not going to where they should be going. The thumbnails show and it seems fine, but the thumbnail and the "amazon thumbnails" link under the pic are just going to my home page. Is there something else that I have to adjust?

Thanks DJ for the great upkeep of these files! :D

I'm no expert on these defs, but I think IGN has changed their link style. I'm pretty sure they were working before, but now the link gets embedded and the header is the correct link,but the video is either non-existent or points to the wrong place. I'll look at the def and see if I can come up with a workaround and post it for review....

EDIT:
Well upon further review, it looks like they've started mixing their embedding styles... Here is the link I'm working with:

http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/articles/...st_102908.html

By looking at the IGN def it looks like it is looking for an object_ID code in the source html file, which for this particular page, there isn't one... I've tried embedding other videos from this site and it works fine. In this particular page, they have this javascript code in the header
Code:

<script>
        var vp_lowResFlash = 'xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox360/video/article/924/924651/xbox_exp_noisetest_102908_flvlowwide.flv';
        var vp_lowResFlashWidth = 320;
        var vp_hiResFlash = 'xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox360/video/article/924/924651/xbox_exp_noisetest_102908_flvhighwide.flv';
        var vp_hiResFlashHeight = 360;
    var mediaIdHash = new Object();

        mediaIdHash["http://streamingmovies.ign.com/xbox360/article/924/924651/xbox_exp_noisetest_102908_wmvhd.wmv"] = 2626771;

        mediaIdHash["http://streamingmovies.ign.com/xbox360/article/924/924651/xbox_exp_noisetest_102908_wmvhighwide.wmv"] = 2626773;

        mediaIdHash["http://xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox360/video/article/924/924651/xbox_exp_noisetest_102908_flvhighwide.flv"] = 2626777;

        mediaIdHash["http://xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox360/video/article/924/924651/xbox_exp_noisetest_102908_flvlowwide.flv"] = 2626778;

        mediaIdHash["http://xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox360/video/article/924/924651/xbox_exp_noisetest_102908_qthighwide.mov"] = 2626787;

        mediaIdHash["http://xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox360/video/article/924/924651/xbox_exp_noisetest_102908_qtlowwide.mov"] = 2626794;

    </script>

Which is different than other pages on their site.... so I assume this means IGN is on it's way off the list????

Which is different than other pages on their site.... so I assume this means IGN is on it's way off the list????

No, it will just need to account for object or article, which are the two different type of video IDs. I have a fix for next update.

Is there a way to embed videos that are hosted at www.screencast.com? Thanks.

I've been looking into Screencast, but I'm troubled by how useful it would be, as I would only be able to support one media type, and I see the site uses multiple with now way to make AME tell which is which.

That's definitely what happens when you have two YouTube definitions installed.

If they don't block all they're worthwhile embeds, I'll be happy to add it.

Those of you who made other requests, I will look them over too.

Okay, let me get around to addressing these. I'm afraid we have a few problems with some of the requested sites.

Much, much appreciated if this is possible! :)

They would have worked fine, but they don't offer any kind of permalink. So there's no way to even link back to a video. That's odd for a site to not offer direct links to their videos. (CNN notwithstanding)

Please Help! Thanks

I'm a little upset with this site. They kind of tricked me. I spent quite a bit of time sorting out the peculiarities in their URL/Embed strings, and finally worked it out, only to find the <iframe> they use for their so called embeds is just a picture of a DIVX player that links to the page the video is on. They are essentially lying that they supply embed code, so I'm none to happy with them right now.

Don't worry. I'll get back to them after I've had a chance to cool off. :mad: :rolleyes:

I can support the auto conversion so that links like that will convert to a player, but I do not know how to make the embed behave this way. I suspect it's a bit of javascript built into the YouTube site.

Can someone make an XML file, or tell me how to embed videos from http://www.apacheclips.com

:)

I have one which I'll post shortly, but it will only support media that's actually hosted on Apache Clips. Not anything hosted on another site like YouTube are anything like that.

Here you go. Maybe you can make one for the music too??

The problem here is merely the lack of an embed code. Keep an eye out to see if they change this and let me know here.

Hi DJ,
Do you think u can embed this site videos ?

http://www.manga.com/channels/scream

And the problem here is also the lack of permalinks for vids. Everything is located on channel pages, but there's no way to extract unique video IDs.
