That would be great! I could provide you with a small test account on a lighthttp server if you're ever interested in giving it a go. If so just shoot me a pm. :)

first of all, i'm sorry for my bad English.
hope you can understand me :)

I have some problems with this.
I imported the product-tfseo_2_37.xml, renamed the HTACCESS.txt to .htaccess and uploaded it to my root forum directory.
I uploaded all the files in the Upload directory to the right directory and the mode doesn't work for me.

some screenshots:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/

*if i am trying to access the forum via the rewrite URL and it's works fine.
example: http://www.root.co.il/forums/f165

any ideas, please?

If you have an update now, can you post it, or can you email?

Sym0n 08-14-2008 06:45 PM

I've disabled this for now. The Unknown Location in WOL was doing my head in. superjeff will the next release resolve this problem?

Thanks and good luck with your exam.

CLUB AMPLE 08-14-2008 09:17 PM

I am wondering if this hack will shorten my users URL....

Lets say the URL is http://www.mysite.com/forums/member.php?u=184

and the person signed up with a user name "im cool"

will this hack enable the person to find their profile by using the shortened URL
mysite.com/imcool

Thanks for your help
Bill

The rewrite of the profile is one of the most stupid thing you car rewrite i think :D
Do you hope to get visites from it?

Im not even sure how to respond to the comment... why do you care what i hope to gain from it... I simply asked if it was something the hack was capable of.
I thought this was a forum to find mods and help with those mods... not to criticize someones needs for a mod.

Sorry, i wanted "criticize" you like no other. The plugin for now don't have this feature, in the future i'd like to rewrite more links, doing extension like for downloads II or v3 arcade, but i don't this the rewriting of members is usefull.

thanks for responding... no harm my friend.. but if you are curious to know my need.. I own dance/ night club.. and people come to the club.. and use the forum to network.. and its a lot easier to give out a screen name... than a HUGE url... ... because everyone at the club.. knows the main site... so all they need is the screen name... just makes it easier..more like myspace

myspace.com/yourscreenname is a lot easier to remember than myspace.com/32y987y23987y92yr87y2387t823rt734287t218

especially after a few beers in a pub :)

Hi superjeff,

Thanks for such great mod :)

I'm looking forward for you to fix the paging (next) > and (previous) < button.

Everything works good in my forum but the paging I mentioned above. I still have (for example) 8.html&page=2 in the URL. When I click > from page 1, I directed to page 8 instead of page 2. Looks like this case does not happen in your demo site :)

Tell me if it's possible to fix it :) Thanks alot superjeff :)

Regards,
;)
Jaymz

superjeff 08-17-2008 06:28 PM

Yea is possible to fix. I don't know what is the cause really!
Have you updated your templates? If yes you can send me the admin access for pllugin/setting, i will check it.

amaarvell 08-18-2008 06:48 AM

i have installed it but its not making any difference to my posts/threads
i renamed the .htaccess file and uploaded it .. i didnt change anything in it as i didnt understand what it was and as i am using shared hosting and not dedicated i didnt think it would matter
also as its a brand new forum i didnt do the file edits ... should i?

finally i uploaded the includes and imported the product, did the changes in the options and turned it on

still no change

the url is http://www.mytwopennysworth.com

any ideas ?

amaarvell 08-18-2008 07:10 AM

tis ok
i got it working

That's good to hear :)

How do I update my template? I have read all pages in this thread carefully but didn't seem to find info about updating template. All I did was downloading the zip, extract it, and follow the instruction inside (upload these file, these directory, import, config, etc...) as usual.

FYI, the problem also occurs with default template as well.

I don't mind to give you access to my site, but I'd rather do it myself with your info (if you don't mind). I'm a big fans of learning by doing myself :D

Kind regards,
;)

Ok, TheCatcher, thanks for trying to help :)

I tried to delete mentioned line in the pagenav_pagelink in both default template and my custom template, but it doesn't seem to fix the problem... :o

Any other info?

Kind regards,
;)

Ok, let's clear it up a bit. What I was trying to say is, if I mouse over the "> " on the navigation link in page 1, then my statusbar shows it's address:

http://www.myforum.com/forum/f41/page8.html&page=2

but when I actualy click the ">" I redirected to page

http://www.myforum.com/forum/f41/page8.html

Which (in this case) is the last page of the forum.

No matter in what page I was in, if I click the ">" or the "<" , then I will be redirected to the last page of the forum. So I guess (in my case) the problem lies in the way it translated the "&page=x" .

Curiously, I've tried installing fresh vbulletin 3.7.2 PL1 in my local server to try this issue. I made some example threads / post (so the forum expand to several pages) and see if it happens. Yes, the problem also occurs on the fresh installation.

I hope I explain it more clearly, so you can see the problem to solve :)

This is great mod BTW, and I'm sure many will use it :) I'm looking forward for more info.

Kind regards,
;)

Hello everyone and in particular Jeff!

Firstly I want to say that I have been following this thread very closely for a long time and I absolutely admire Jeff. I wish I could have coded half as well when I was 16! (I am 24 btw!! :D)

I just started a new VB site

http://www.club-oracle.com

I first thought of implementing VBSEO but the trouble for me is not so much the price but the load it puts on the server. I have installed Jeff's MOD but it is currently disabled. I just want to ask anyone here who is using this as to what are the known issues, if any. Like does this break anything? or some standard VB feature that does not work with this. (Actually I am a Joomla, phpBB guy, new to VB)

Any comment/suggestion will be appreciated. :)

If vBSEO were available at a sensible price, say $59 per license, I'd buy it in a heartbeat (three licenses actually), but at its present price and with their snake oil marketing techniques, I don't think it's worth it. You can do as well or better with the freebies.

In saying that, I think Superjeff's work is quite good, although a bit ragged around the edges. He's apparently working on some refinements and fixes that are due out shortly.

You should be able to use it, though, without any serious issues. I have it working on my three vBulletin forums, including the one linked via my signature, in case you want to check performance.

Peace,
Gene
