Any ideas why?
thanks

This mod works with cookies.

If you version of Firefox blocks cookies this can be the reason.

seems to work fine on 3.8 -thanks

Does anyone know whatever happened to the version being worked on by mfyvie he doesn't show as having any activity since May of 08. Thx for the info...I'm getting way to many false positives...ppl I personally know like 1 block from house are being matched with ppl I know that I know are in other countries...as in I've met them face to face and know they are completely different ppl not using the same computer. Anyways the other one looks good, and btw as far as other mods causing the prob, I uninstalled all but this one and still got the false positives...so its not that

RobParker 10-14-2009 05:53 PM

We use this mod a LOT to "catch" people re-registering after they've been banned.

With the latest news that VB4 probably won't support existing mods we'd be really keen on finding out if this will be updated for VB4 (and paying for it if necessary).

symptome 11-06-2009 09:58 AM

isn't it possible to "remember" the old cases and not to report every login of the same persons each and every day?

Not automatically. You must manually add them to the exclusion list.

Classico 11-15-2009 11:18 PM

Hi!

Does this work in VB4.0? ;)

Thanks!

Duncan 11-26-2009 04:16 AM

This modification is a must-have for any board. We've been using it for a long time now.

THANKS!

Yes works perfectly :)

I need to know if something is possible. Can member x send member y a link (via email or facebook) and the AE Detector trip showing member 1 and member 2 logging in from the same computer? We have this situation at our forum. Member 1 was sharing a link to one of the threads and when member 2 clicked on that link, it tripped the AE Detection. I thought that member 1 was logging in using member 2's login information, but member 2 swears that he logged in via this link and never shared his login info. Possible or not?

vitrag24 03-15-2010 09:34 PM

ximcix 03-23-2010 04:29 AM

I'm running a forum that was upgraded from 3.8.x to 4.0.0 (currently running latest version 4.0.2)

I disabled all non-vB plugins & products before upgrading & recently re-enabled this product & I still get a PM whenever the same PC is used to log into 2 or more accounts on my forum.

Videx 03-23-2010 05:27 AM

Confirmed, working good in 402pl1. If the author's not going to ask to move this thread to vb4, I guess one of us should.

vitrag24 03-23-2010 08:42 PM

Also working for notification via threads and not via pm?

Videx 03-23-2010 10:36 PM

We've only used notis via threads for a few years. Sorry, I didn't test PM notis in vb4.

Nicke71 07-05-2010 11:32 AM

Thanks, have been using this for years and was looking for a vb4 version. Will try to enable this plugin again then!

Tagged for later! Thanks!

Meestor_X 12-20-2010 06:46 PM

First, my apologies if this question is already answered in this thread.

Can this mod be used to report ONLY failed logins?
I want to get a notification when a person or robot tries to login to another person's account and is guessing passwords.
Spammers are now using this method to get access to a registered account so they can post without the new user moderation I'm using on my forum.
These spammers will try one account then move on to another, trying to brute-force guess or crack the passwords for registered users, so their IP will stay the same while they make many attempts.

If this mod does not log failed attempts, then does anyone know of a mod that does?

Thank you.

Videx 12-20-2010 08:02 PM

No, that's not what this mod is for. The closest I can think of would be Mail Admin When fail to login to admincp V2. It will trigger when they reach an admin account anyway. Maybe.

I can't imagine a spammer taking the time to do this. I mean, we're not talking breaking a single account by brute force with unlimited password guesses. Rather, they would have to move from account to account before starting over with the first one with their next guess. And if they got back to the first account too soon, they would get locked out.

Yeah, looking for something notifies on any failed logins. Would probably be really simple, just has to look at the strikes table and notify whenever something new comes up there. I'm just not enough of a programmer to write it.

Never underestimate the determination of spammers!
It's probably an automated thing anyway. Tries a username with 5 different passwords, then moves to the next username.

Others are having this problem too. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...t=failed+login

Actually, that thread is from 2008, vb 3.7. And there was no agreement that it was really spammers.

mishb68 05-16-2011 07:41 AM

Working fine on 4.1.3 :D

Wallace40 05-21-2011 01:16 AM

omg this plug in would help me so much but I use vbulletins 4.0 does anyone have a plug in or product for that version yet?

mishb68 05-21-2011 01:21 AM

It works perfectly for me on 4.1.3.

Wallace40 05-21-2011 03:58 AM

Okay thanks!! I loaded it up - waiting to see it work !! This will be great thanks!

BANDiT600 07-11-2011 11:12 AM

It's very useful hack, but it will be great if author provide us with the new version for vB4.

EdQ 07-11-2011 12:36 PM

Working on 4.1.4

FrankP 02-25-2012 09:45 PM

seems to work on 4.1.10

Ist it possible that a new post is only created when the PM was sent as well?

sportsfroma2 03-06-2012 04:56 AM

This doesn't seem to be posting a thread in the forum I have specified, it ONLY sends pm's...

I recently upgraded my site from 4.1.10 to 4.1.11, but I don't think that was working in 4.1.10 either.

I'm using the mod_rewrite URLS, if that matters any.

thanks

Working in 4.2.2

Needs some updates to a deprecated function to work with PHP 5.4 though (you will get function split() is deprecated error when logging in and you won't be able to log into the admin control panel either!)

To work in PHP 5.4 Edit Plugin AE Detector: Login checker

1) REPLACE:
PHP Code:

                $ignore_users split(','$vbulletin->options['ae_ignore_users']);

$ignore_groups split(','$vbulletin->options['ae_ignore_groups']);

with:
PHP Code:

                $ignore_users preg_split("/,/"$vbulletin->options['ae_ignore_users']);

$ignore_groups preg_split("/,/"$vbulletin->options['ae_ignore_groups']);

2) REPLACE:
PHP Code:

                            $Unums split(","$idstack);

with:
PHP Code:

                            $Unums preg_split("/,/"$idstack);

3) REPLACE:
PHP Code:

                            $adminusers split(","$vbulletin->options['ae_adminusers']);

with:
PHP Code:

                            $adminusers preg_split("/,/"$vbulletin->options['ae_adminusers']);

And I see the dev hasn't been on since July 2013; not good. If he checks in, please consider marking this mod as reusable code so it's easier to try to maintain it? TIA

dartho 11-25-2013 02:28 AM

If you look at the thread for the VB 3.7 version of this addon, it states that the code is identical to this AND reusable.
