I have installed FlashChat together with your hack and it is working fine.

However, i cannot find any option in my ACP to set each usergroup access to chat.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Paul M 03-04-2007 05:40 PM

It's part of the permission settings for each usergroup (as it says - in the usergroup manager).

hotmasala4u 03-04-2007 05:44 PM

1. There is no option for that, I believe you would need to edit a Flashchat file.
2. What do you want to edit, and why ?

As I said, there has never been such a feature in any of my modifications. I can't help you with changes others may have made locally on their forums. You will need to ask them.

Yes, i have searched he permission settings for each usergroup, i go to:

- Usergroup manager

--> then all my groups are listed, each of them has the options:

- Edit Usergroup
- Edit Promotions
- Show All Primary Users
- Show All Additional Users
- View Reputations

Then i select one of my groups (for example: registered), and i see a screen with these sections:

Usergroup
Forum Viewing Permissions
Forum Searching Permissions
Post / Thread Permissions
Attachment Permissions
Poll Permissions
Private Message Permissions
Calendar Permissions
Who's Online Permissions
Administrator Permissions
General Permissions
User Note Permissions
Picture Uploading Permissions
Signature Permissions
User Reputation Permissions
User Infraction Permissions
Usergroup Options

I am running vBulletin 3.6.5 , and FlashChat Integration 3.51

I have searched through all the users options but cannot find any of them related to chat permissions :(

LaPiba 03-04-2007 06:59 PM

Aah!! Now i understand! The problem was that i had uploaded bitfield_flashchat.xml to an incorrect folder.

Now the option FlashChat Permissions can be viewed. :)

doogie88 03-04-2007 07:36 PM

Do I need to install 3.5 then upgrade with this? OR is this the complete script?
Nevermind I see flashchat is a whole different script/software.

Some members have requested the chat be opened in a new window that is not embedded in the forum.

Paul M 03-05-2007 12:25 AM

Then as I said earlier, you need to manually add the link in your templates, not use the auto option.

xLYNZx 03-05-2007 01:30 PM

since integration, a custom usergroup hasnt been able to enter the chat, ive searched the FlashChat support forum and found posts saying to edit the vB CMT file which i now understand how to and what im looking to do, but which file do i edit?!

Hi xLYNZx,

bitfield_flashchat.xml must be in:

yourdomain.com/your-forums-folder/includes/xml/

After that you go to your Admin CPanel, enter Usergroups --> Usergroup Manager, and select the group of your interest.

Regards

xLYNZx 03-05-2007 03:50 PM

thank you, have done that, will now wait and see if they can get in the chat!!

xLYNZx 03-05-2007 04:02 PM

no, they cant. I even set their permission to moderator and still nothing, even though the mods can get in

Paul M 03-05-2007 11:14 PM

Did you upload the the other file into the correct place as well ?

xLYNZx 03-06-2007 06:02 AM

as far as i know, everything is in the right place. I will remove everything and start again from scratch.

ravencr 03-06-2007 01:04 PM

Has anyone used any other programs from tufat?

Chris

KrisP 03-06-2007 02:28 PM

Is there a mod so you can show on the index page under "whats going on" how many are logged on to the chat ?

Paul M 03-06-2007 04:17 PM

Look in the add-ons section, below the file download.

ravencr 03-08-2007 02:12 AM

I installed it here: www.utvrally.com/forum with no troubles, but I didn't do steps 3-4, because I have no idea what they do. Can anyone explain the purpose of steps 3 & 4?

Chris

im having a problem logging into flashchat at my place. Last night I left my admin account logged in at work. Is there anyway i can kick my self out of flashchat from work so that i can login at home?

flzero 03-08-2007 01:14 PM

I installed the flashchat, and managed all the stuff with the plug ins. Now I can't see any settings for the chat.. huh? (only the settings for the add on)
..and the chat doesn't load..

whats with it?

Mr_Devlin 03-09-2007 01:35 PM

Sorry, but I got much trouble with this.
Today I installed FC v 4.7.10 - the current Version on a vb 3.6.5.
Everything seems to processes fine, but when trying to call misc?do=flashchat chat will return a white window.
When trying the flashchat.php-link I have to login...weird.

With the Who-Is-Chatting Mod chat will load but I have to login. And login fails.

Also I can't login to chat admin:
Quote:

Could not grant admin role for this login and password. Table '****.fc_users' doesn't exist
Itseems to me that fc wil read from their own user table (fc_config, fc_config_instances, fc_config_chats, fc_config_values) instead of using vb table.
Weird...

Yes, I'd checked the usergroup settings and yes, I specified the CMS in config.php properly.
I disabled my own themes and skins so that chat should load only default settings.

Nothing works. I tried this on my forum and on my localhost environment too with same results. I have to disable this chat for now.

Paul M 03-09-2007 03:26 PM

You have obviously done something wrong, but without ftp access to your files (and forum admin access) there is no way to tell what.

dendrob 03-09-2007 10:35 PM

OK, I can now see permissions in the Usergroup manager. I gave unregistered the privilages, but when a guest tries to access they get the flashchat login screen. Isn't there a way to let unregistered people enter a chat if they specify a nick to use ?

anyhelp would be appreciated

Paul M 03-10-2007 10:25 AM

Guests cannot use Flashchat if it is integrated, that's the basic purpose of integration.

doogie88 03-11-2007 02:28 AM

I made a new category and the category links to the chat.
Is there any way possible to list if there is anyone in chat?
So if members see there are 1-2 people in chat, they will join?

LisaD1 03-11-2007 02:30 AM

There is a way to add a box at the bottom of your forum, under the whos on line and all that. I will look for it and post it.

That's awsome, thanks a lot.

Ryloth 03-11-2007 11:34 PM

On my site I have VIP members and they are a secondary usergroup to the "registered user" user group. I want VIP only to have access to the chat but they can not access it.

Is this because the integration doesn't recognize secondary usergroups?

Paul M 03-11-2007 11:41 PM

Secondary groups are recognised.

Thx1133 03-12-2007 12:06 AM

Installed !
Good Job & Many Thanks Paul !!!

Its not working for me then.

My Primary Usergroup is obviously Registered Users and my Secondary Usergroup is VIP User. I have Registered Users set to "no access" and VIP Users set to "user role" and it will not allow them to log into chat.

The only way for it to work is for me to set VIP Users as the Primary Usergroup.

Also, what is Customer Role?

Paul M 03-12-2007 12:54 AM

Then I know what your problem is - it's actually something I noticed a while back, but haven't got around to doing anything about yet.

The problem is that the 'No Access' level is actually the banned permission - hence it's full name of No Access (Banned Role) - this permission is the highest level permission, therefore if a member is in a group with that permission set, they will be banned, no matter what other groups they are a member of (which is exactly how banning should work).

The answer, of course, is that both a "No Access" and "Banned" permission are needed, the no access being the lowest level, so any access permission will override it. Now I have a reason to look at it again I will add this in the next few days and release an update.

The Customer role is for when you run Flashchat in the Live Support Mode - few people do that so I wouldn't worry about it.

lol...

This is NOT my first setup of flashchat for a vb, I use fc since v4.0.x and never had probs like this. This seems to be an installation prob, because fc will not use the correct user tables.

Paul M 03-12-2007 06:36 PM

Then it sounds like a Flashchat issue which is out of scope for this mod - you need to ask on the Tufat forums - However, I would suggest you check what prefix have you defined for Flashchat to use (in config.srv.php).
