nope, unfortunately there is nothing inside the admincp.i've checked it before.:cheeky: also when people try to download the uploaded files within downlod programs it gives them a php file instead of avi, mpeg,mp3,etc..

Arjan 10-14-2006 10:33 AM

The maximum downloadsize is buggy.
When I enter 15 (for 15MB) the users cannot download at all.

When I enter a value over 100 it seems to be working OK.

Another thing.
On Plesk servers for example there are two different PHP.ini's one for the admin CP and one for the sites.
Maybe you are facing something like that?

I've been reasonably patient now. It would be nice if the bug I presented about approvals could be taken a look at, because it's weekend now.:)

Hmmm good thought, but Im running Fedora 5 on the LIVE server, and the new server Im putting together is running Fedor 6 RC3, and sheesh can't seem to change that max_file_size from 2 meg, man oh man i have edited that php.ini until im blue in the face hehehe but to no avail, did a locate in shell window to make sure of the right file, now I am doing a reinstall clean and won't compile my php and apache just to see if the RC3 for Fedora is buggy. Whoot whoot, Oct 17 Finall release for Fedora 6....anywho anyother suggestions please post. Thanks Dragonhart

Don't forget hehehe I am the Admin, these 2 servers are right beside me so I set them up...

We have fixed it in our files a minute ago :)

We are currently working on DownloadsII 5.0.4, which will fix all known bugs (and maybe add one or two small new features)

Black Tiger 10-14-2006 01:00 PM

Cool, thanks! :D

Try putting the extensions in the "Open File Directly in Browser". We have seen on another site where the default download logic doesn't work right but "Open File Directly in Browser" method does.

Oh ya whoot whoot new version soon can hardly wait, this is one awesome mod.
Ok first thanks to everyone who tried to help on my problem of max_file_size which wouldn't change from 2 meg. WHOOT WHOOT I finally got it to change, the bloody php.ini file has to copied to the /usr/local/lib/ directory after you do a recompilation of the php. That is why the parameters wouldn't change. Once I did this it worked ok even on my LIVE server. If you don't compile your PHP, then /etc/php.ini is what you can change to increase that pesky max_file_size. Man do I feel relieved on this ......Dragonhart

it doesn't help either (:tired:
it seems like the program expects to open a HTML file, not any other types.
also about download programs. the program doesn't send cookies to the download programs and it doesn't understand that the user is logged in already...

Can you pm me the url of the site and a normal login for the downloads section?

DownloadsII isn't working with download programs (download managers), we know that and there's no fix for it at the moment. So you just have to download with your browser :)

A small teaser for the next release:

When you press the delete button now, your file is gone forever. In version 5.0.4 there will be an AJAX pop-up to confirm the deletion :)

Have you added the link in the navbar template? It's explained in Readme-Install.txt ;)
You also need to set your permissions correctly, otherwise you get a "no permission" page.

To show it on your vBa CMPS portal page, you need to install this add-on :)

Robbed 10-15-2006 01:46 PM

In the next version can you have another stats page that shows a member list with the total downloads, uploads and bandwidth.

How do you change the wait time to 30 seconds instead of 60.?

  1. Can you explain this a bit more? What would be the purpose of it? A "top 10 downloaders", "top 10 uploaders", ... page?
  2. AdminCP -> Downloads -> Settings -> Download Delay (last setting on the page)

boatdesign 10-16-2006 06:26 AM

Very nice! A couple minor details:
1.) the credits include a link to http://www.elitecoders.org/ which requests a password or gives an authorization denied. So possibly that link should not be there???
2.) under Options -> ec download options it says "The relative path to your download folder. Do not change unless you know what your doing!" The second your should be you're.

boatdesign 10-16-2006 07:42 AM

There is also one minor glitch with the admin import function -- when I use the admin import all the stats disappear until I upload or edit a file as a user. (and the files uploaded by admin using the admincp import do not show under the admin cp downloads screen unless they are edited by a user)

This is the maximum MB that a user can download in one day. Set this to -1 for there to be NO limit.
So I expect to have to enter 15 if I want 15 MB.

Still it is buggy.
When I enter a value up to 15 I get the message "download exceeded" right away.
With values 20 and up (and I'm really sure about 50 and up) its counting MB's allright.

DementedMindz 10-16-2006 10:51 AM

mine seems to work great are you linking to files or uploading them?

I would be more intrested in seeing all the downloaders, if some users have a high number of downloads then the account might be a leecher.

Thanks

I've you want to PM me your site URL along with an admin username and password, I'll check it out. I can't figure out any way that our code would have some magic switch at 15. It's pretty straightforward:
PHP Code:

$dlremaining = ($permissions['ecdownloadsmaxdailydl'] * 1048576) - ($tempmax1['dlamount'] + $tempnew['size']);

where -
  • $permissions['ecdownloadsmaxdailydl'] is the number entered as the max daily download amount
  • $tempmax1['dlamount'] - is the number of bytes downloaded in the last twenty four hours and
  • $tempnew['size'] is the size of the file the user is attempting to download.
Anyway, PM me and I'll check it out.

Also, what is the size of the file you are trying to download?

  1. That's the site of the old developer, we have to keep that old copyright, but maybe we remove the url if the site isn't avaiable any more.
  2. Will be fixed in the new version ;)

I will take a look at this later today :)

@ThunderBeast: AdminCP -> vBa CMPS -> Default Settings -> Navbar Replacements
That should fix the wrong url's (add downloads.php to the list).

Can you give the url of your site for the second problem and maybe explain it a bit, because I don't understand the problem. Be sure you have followed all the steps to add the vBa CMPS module and check the module permissions (AdminCP -> vBa CMPS -> Quick Permissions Editor).

I don't think we are going to add a mass edit feature. Normally you just give your download a good name and that's all (or you mass import and edit them with the mass import feature).

The next release includes better usergroup limitations (total # downloads per day), but not with number of post per day at the moment. Maybe we create an add-on for this.

Hello,

After setting up and using DownloadsII I like to say That i like it Vry Much but would like to request for somethings for future releases .

1. It would be nice to create a folder in the /downloads folder for each catagory so that all the files are not all in one unsorted folder .

2. It would be great to be able to enable/disable uploading in some catagories . For example I have a main catagory with a bunch of subcatagories . I dont want my users to be able to upload directly into the main catagory . I want them to upload into the subcatagorys so that they are sorted properly . Some users may upload into the parent catagory by mistake . If this is allready an option i dont see it . Please explain how it is possible .

Im sure i will have other requests but those are my 2 main concerns .

I know now about mass import, but this a BIG problem for those already uploaded files, people are complaining every day about this :(

Hm , i am thinking now,..... when i perform a search i get results with , Name , Date, Author, Download and Rating , i only need Category there too ? Is this maybe possible ? If you understand me :)

<tdclass="thead">{$vbphrase['ecdownloads_category']}</td>
after

Code:

<td class="thead">{$vbphrase['date']}</td>
and in downloads_search_result_bit
i added

Code:

<td class="$bgclass">{$file['category']}</td>
after

Code:

<td class="$bgclass">$date</td>
And i can see results, only thing is i only see category # not the name? Is possible to see the cat name acctualy?

The next version, to be released "soon", will include the category name and the small description in the search results.:classic:

Robbed 10-17-2006 09:09 PM

Ohh ya like the others have mentioned have different folders per category. My downloads folder is huge and it takes forever to browse or delete files.

I don't think I'll do it based on categories. Some sites have a lot of files but few categories so that wouldn't really help. I'm thinking of a more random system, something like sub-folders numbered 1 - 10 with each of them having a sub-folder numbered 1-10. The admin could configure how many sub-folders are created.

I also thought about using userid but since so many sites have a small number of people uploading, that would work well. Also considered basing it off the month and day but ... again ... if someone does a mass upload to get started, that wouldn't work well.

So far, random distribution into a series of numbered sub-folders seems the best way to go.

Is it anyhow possible to give me a `code` instead of this `{$file['category']}` to put in downloads_search_result_bit just to have it as temporaty solution, because i am going crazy with those ppl :)
Thank you

No, sorry, it's not that simple. The information you want is not currently being pulled when a search is run.

Daky 10-17-2006 11:01 PM

OK! NP!
I cant wait new release now :)

DO you maybe have idea or date in your mind ? :)
