YOurs commercial version i dont understand, what if i dont have:

IonCube Loader
CURL w/ SSL Support

JazzleBug 06-05-2006 12:02 AM

I have this rockin' on 3.5.4. without any trouble. If it works out well, I'll be upgrading to the commercial version to show my support. So far, so good.

akanevsky 06-05-2006 12:26 AM

Glad to hear that :)

JulianWolf 06-07-2006 02:44 PM

Great Hack, Thanks!

Is there a way to change the "from"-Setting in the Invitation-eMail? It is "Name @ Forum" in the moment and lots of Users think, this is spam. I would like to put the eMail-Adress from the User, who invites, in the "from" of the invitation-eMail.

Best wishes, Julian!

Tralala 06-07-2006 02:47 PM

Yeah, the spam thing is a bit odd, I've gotten numerous comments from folks who disregarded the invite as spam. I've tried to alter the invite text to make it more clear...

JulianWolf 06-07-2006 02:54 PM

That´s why I think putting the eMail of the "inviter" in is the best way. I suggest that they are friends and so he will not classifie an eMail as "SPam" which is comming from a friend.

But ... how can I change that? I didn´t find something in the phrases and templates, so I guess it is in the Hack itself.

Best wishes, Julian!

akanevsky 06-07-2006 05:47 PM

So what do you guys think would be a good title that would not be considered spam?

Tralala 06-07-2006 08:56 PM

Good question.

I do think setting the "From:" field to be the sender's email address (instead of "Name @ Forum") would help.

Perhaps the "subject" field could be user customizable? (And if left blank, then it would use the default title.)

TomJames 06-14-2006 04:13 PM

Awesome, im gonna be testing this and hopefully implementing. Great stuff, ill be looking around your site at your other stuff soon :D

*clicks install*

akanevsky 06-14-2006 04:15 PM

Ya, except you should also look at the new releases at my site cause they have much more features than this version.
By the way, in the last release I changed the subject and from fields a bit, in the following way:

From: SiteName
Subject: A friend has invited you to register on yaddayaddayadda...

Tralala 06-19-2006 11:38 PM

Wondering, does this work on vB 3.6?

akanevsky 06-20-2006 12:01 AM

It should, but since I am not even going to look at vB 3.6 until gold release, I can give no guarantee.

Tralala 06-20-2006 02:03 AM

Well I won't look at vB 3.6 until gold release then, either. :D

bogie 06-30-2006 07:39 AM

I'm trying to install this mod and have ran into issues adding the code to the UserCP template. When I add the code from the readme file I get this error:

Code:

vBulletin Message
The following error occurred when attempting to evaluate this template:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /home/*****/public_html/forums/includes/adminfunctions_template.php(3537) : eval()'d code on line 1

This is likely caused by a malformed conditional statement. It is highly recommended that you fix this error before continuing, but you may continue as-is if you wish.

Appreciate any help anyone can give me on this.

akanevsky 06-30-2006 11:37 AM

Try reverting the template and trying again.

Kronomancer 07-13-2006 04:35 PM

Thanks - this is a good plugin. I find that it works okay with 3.6 beta 4.

One feature I would really appreciate is setting permissions to allow members of a particular usergroup invite new users to a particular usergroup. For example, as administrator, I would like to be able to invite collaborators to register, after which they would automatically be upgraded to a group with private access to workgroup areas. Or for other (non-administrator) workgroup members to invite other colleagues to join the same group, etc... with vB's powerful permissions system, it opens up many options for where you could take this invite system.

bada_bing 07-13-2006 04:58 PM

What do you gain with the paid version that you dont get with this one

That is available in the new, commercial version.

akanevsky 07-14-2006 07:56 PM

Perhaps your site is blacklisted for spam by the mail service that is not receiving spam?

akanevsky 07-15-2006 11:23 PM

No, this is not setting - this is something with the mail server(s)...

almukmin 07-25-2006 01:11 PM

This mod sucks, it messed up everything, uninstalled it.

I'm glad I didn't buy the commercial one. Looks like this one is meant to mess up.

Can you please clarify, how does it "mess everything up"?
Both the free and the commercial versions of this hack are funning fine on multiple sites. So, your statement seems illogical... Esspecially, since you have come from here.

None that offer the same amount of features. :)

I'm sorry, my apology, it's supposed to work but vBulletin messes up, everytime I click on Save & Reload, part of the code dissapear. (editting template)
Anyway, will you add Yahoo grabber in the future?

mrgrimes 07-27-2006 02:47 PM

Can I use this for inviting people to a private forum within the board, and if so how?

almukmin 07-28-2006 07:19 AM

I think it's for inviting people that aren't already a member of the site.

BTW, I still need the grabber if Psionic can work on that maybe.

mrgrimes 07-28-2006 07:33 AM

Is there a way to set users' 'can invite' field to default to no, rather than yes?

Quite, but I want to invite unregistered people to a specific forum within the site, so that they become the private members of that forum.

I'm fairly new to vb, but I had a similar need. My 'Karl style' answer was to create a new usergroup and email the select members to request to join that usergroup. The permissions for that group were to see the hidden forum, while standard members could not.
It's effectively an invitation.

Thanks, I think that's what I'll do. It's a shame though that there's no mechanism within vBulletin for making this sort of thing easy.

Perhaps it's something to do with your editor...
