You are completly right Lionel. It seems like all that hype it has gone to their head and they have started to become arrogant and rude. But if they keep that up xenforo won''t get too far.

P.s. The very same thing happened to me as well there with another fand boy you know what kisser.

Simple email notification or go through the motions to setup your smart phone to receive this or that.. yes it would be extra work and their is a difference in how things are sent and received. I never thought xF would be missing email notifications.. is that just the main site that refuses to accommodate the rest of us or will that be a missing feature in the Beta next week? I won't be able to mass-email members if I use it? No admincp/email.php??? Really? No... surely not...

@Lionel and Borbole,

Ahh but remember I'm already partially known as a vB-Fanboy so some will ignore my statements but long story short they run the boards so they acted how they saw fit, I would have went about it differently but that's me and your you so to each his own and never forget that some people should be on their own, in a galaxy far far away from others.. especially if they are making decisions without being well informed or replying to subjects that should be replied to by staff.

I've decided not to buy XenForo. The way some people are treated and spoken to on their site has, unfortunately, turned me away from the product at this time (Not by the developers, but the ones desperate for XenForo Developer love). I also don't like the "fanboy" attitude and arse lickers, starting their own xen sites to either cash in or get some more loving towards the Developers. Also, for just a forum it's fine and they have done a good job and I wish them well, but people tend to want more than that and it's missing a lot. There is nothing new I feel, just different ways in implementation.

I don't care whether you buy it or not, but it's pretty vicious to make nebulous comments like "the way some people are treated and spoken to." What people, and by whom? "Some" people lets you slander an entire community without ever having to back up your statement with facts, or be specific. It makes you no better than these vague nameless people you're complaining about.

I think bringing up specific usernames here when those people might not even be members here to defend themselves is in worse taste. As someone who visits both forums I understand his statements and for the most part agree with it... it's not 1 or 2 people but the mindset of a large portion of the XF community that have drank the XF kool-aide.

Also... for a young forum only product their initial (non 1 day special) pricing seems VERY over-priced to me... Maybe in a year or two they could charge that but with the lack of features they plan on launching with I was expecting a price close to half of what was announced.

And some people, simply put, do not read between the lines and we should not always provide names as the old saying goes, you know who you are :cool:

Its new and therefore its fragile. While I do recognize what has been described the last few pages, It also needs to be considered that this is a busy community that was active instantly. That after a y¤¤r of work and uncertainty by the coders. I imagine a lot is at stake. I think things will need to stabilize first. Especially in the XF community and moderation.

I do wonder whether XenForo will follow demand for features or if XF will follow mainly its own vision. The latter is an issue that was a big problem with Jelsoft IMHO.

At the very least we are seeing competition heat up and XF adding modern UI to the mix, which is much needed.

Just my 2c

I dont think the developers should be judged entirely by the actions of some of the community members. Moderation is a very difficult task and they cannot be expected to do it perfectly all the time, just as we cant expect moderation to be perfect here all the time. Please also remember that they are in a very stressful situation with a lot of work to do and no income as yet.

I dont agree with some of the policy decisions that they have made regarding features as well, but they have a vision of xenforo and lets see where it goes. Most of the features of the basic forum software are looking good and are very stable. They are inspiring a confidence and sense of creativity which is not there in vB4 as yet.

Of course they dont have any of the mods/styles etc .. which make vBulletin so great but the have a lot of talented people backing them up. They have some good vb coders/designers there already so lets see how it goes. Honestly I think they have a good chance of competing with vbulletin sometime in the future.

Also I think this will be good for vBulletin itself because having a good competitor like xenforo will force vBulletin to improve its standards as well. Forum communities will benefit as a result.
