Where are the links for the sidebar? I would like to edit them and cannot find where the code is to do that.

The sidebar is located in the template ad_header_end

It's a table inside ad_header_end, just copy the rows from your current USERCP_SHELL and add them to the ad_header template, adding appropriate classes where necessary.

I don't have 3.8 installed and as such, I've never tried.
I'm guessing no, but I'm not sure.
