Like Videx said, when you're testing, once it's triggered and pm'd you once, it won't do it again, so relogging your test accounts over and over won't do jack.

I still don't feel 100% about trusting this thing, especially since it only triggers the one time until cookies are cleared. I'd rather have it ping every time it gets a positive. Maybe one day I'll look in the code... but not today.

i think you hit the nail on the head. the system is working. i think everyone missed the part where it only works once when the cookie has been placed. I think it should continue to work each time. Once i cleared the cookies, tested again, it worked.

I would use this as a guide, and double check with other tools.

works on 3.7.1

<i>I</i> didn't miss that part. I vaguely remember when it was added, back before thread starting was possible, because it would spam your inbox with dozens of reports from the same people.

What's maddening is this just makes it harder to test. Since the mod only works intermittently, and thus needs to be tested constantly on slower boards, or when first installed, it's a pita that one has to be aware of.

It's running on my board, which gets 100K visits per day off around 7K unique visitors, and IS working flawlessly...

I'm even getting repeat "business" from members until I put their id's into the safe list.

Since install and realising the issue with the id's being required for the Alert and PM, I've had no issues, and every time I test it with test id's it works....

I wish I could explain why yours is intermittent.....have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling it again ?

Oh yes. To no effect. I have two vb boards (both now 373pl1). It stopped working on 'vb1' but continued on 'vb2' for a while. Then it stopped on vb2 also. Then a couple weeks ago it suddenly started working again on vb1. Still off on vb2.

I did absolutely nothing to restart it this time on vb1, and I'm unaware of any changes made to our shared server. No new mods or updates were installed. Most puzzling.

I have searched the different threads of this mod, but can't find an solution to the following:
  • How can I change the thread title, so that it shows all accounts that tripped the detector?
It seems to be hardcoded in the plugin:
PHP Code:

$subject $vbulletin->userinfo['username'] . " tripped AE detector"

  • How can I make posts about the same accounts go in one thread, instead of it causing multiple threads?
I've seen a lot of requests for info about this.

I gotta admit, now that both of my detectors are working and making new threads, it might be nice to just make a single thread.

But wouldn't that have to include some check to make sure the thread didn't get too long? And if it automatically split the thread at some point, wouldn't that kil your subscription? I dunno, maybe way more trouble to implement than it seems at first.
