You can't click buttons for your own posts, so if you're viewing your own posts then that could be why.

Other thing to take into consideration is the "Can Click" permission in the Manage Buttons interface.

Also make sure in the Forum Manager interface you have the buttons enabled for each category (the Pro version allows you to control per forum).

I've done all that bro!!! Still nothing. Could a reason be it's a custom skin?

That's plausible, could you try it on a default skin? Should be able to just create a new skin with no parent :)

I have two simple questions - how do I remove the header bar that says "Post Thanks / Like", and then how do I align the "like" (or the "like" button) to the right hand side?

Buttons / Hide

Each button can be set as "Default" for Attachments and Content. When posting via Quick Reply, the default button(s) will be set as Required
Notifications can be disabled on a per-button basis
The "thanks bar" in posts displays the number of users who has clicked each button for all areas.
These clicks can be disabled via a vBulletin Option
(vB4) You can choose what portions of the postbit should be coloured via the colour thresholds.
Email notifications go through an extra (hopefully) invisible redirect to clear its notifications, to ensure users are logged in before viewing their profiles
Button text can be disabled via vBulletin Options

V3 beta 4 ... Minor bug when on the user profile page, the links to posts don't have 'p=' for some reason.
We have basic friendly URLs in our vB4.2.0 options

Patched this as a hack... ./upload/dbtech/thanks/contenttypes/post/parse.php
