When I attempt to download the archives, I keep getting:

Quote:

FF|Skyrider, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
While all the usergroups I'm in have "download archives -> yes".. Any idea what's going on?

$1 says you have more then 1 usergroup. The lowest security setting generally takes precidence.... Check ALL the groups you have assigned to you.

Thanks for the reply but have you read my reply below the quote?

I just changed it to 1 usergroup only (the admin usergroup) and I still can't download the archive.

Ranger187 11-06-2009 01:01 AM

You just said did I read your reply, yet you clearly said you had more then 1 usergroup. I'm betting you didn't import the settings fully. Reinstall the product again to be sure.

*shrugs*, might as well do that, heh.. ALso, when I read the archive I get this error a lot:

Quote:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in forum/httpdocs/includes/mgc_cb_evo/class_formatting.php(438) : eval()'d code on line 92

While I know increasing the memory would fix the issue (currently set to 32MB).. How much memory is the chat box taking to even read the chats? There's only 1007 chats in the archive in total.

Also...though I have the option checked to show users in chat on forum home...they do not appear.

Any help?

i had the same stupid error and changed the class_misc file from "membergroups" to "usergroups" everywhere that was written and it worked, the post that guy who made this said to change didn't work, it made it worse for me.

I have 2 questions/issues I'd like to take care of:

1) when a dialogue box pops up, the text is the same color as the box, making it next to impossible to read (dialogue box for instance when you slap someone and it asks you to click yes or no)

2) how do I add/eliminate color choices from the shoutbox? because my site is black/dark gray, and I don't want users using black/dark text on a dark background.

SnapOff Racing 11-12-2009 04:56 PM

Another question I have, is when you go to edit people's shouts...how can I go about hiding the [b][i][font] code that pops up around what people type. it's extremely annoying to edit people's shouts with that crap in the way. infernoshout wasn't like that, and I'm hoping someone can give me a workaround/setting change for it.

Hi,

I did the overwriting option. But it seems that when i switch back to Dutch (from English) it's all in french again.

Do i need to overwrite the dutch lang version?

Edit:

Also, if its activated, where can i find the link chatbox?

VBDev 11-13-2009 06:30 PM

Dear users,

As you might have seen, I have recently been rather inactive on the internet. I have had some tough personnal issues that lead me to reconsider my "after works" activities, and as you might know, vBulletin is one of them.

This reflexion led me the decision of stopping the development of vBulletin products. I know this might sound rough but somehow life is made of choices and I made mine: love is more important than vBulletin.

Chatbox will keep intact all copyright and notices and licences intacked and be upgraded to support vB4.0 by my current partner AWJunkies.
Please be patient in this transitional time.

You can contact AWJunkies for any further information on forumcoding.

Wishing you the best in your vBulletin projects.

doesn't make sense at all to me. I had no issues doing what you've stated by uploading the english file from how it was described through the screenshots..are you sure you uploaded it in the right place? (in the language portion of the admin cp, not the plug-in section)?

No the language file. I already could enable it etc, but it was partially in french. The column on the left side, for example.

I mean where can i actually find the chatbox, i want to chat and test it out. I can't find the link in my forum for it. How do i start chatting?

iMageREAL 11-14-2009 01:48 PM

is it possible to add a image to the background of the chatbox similar to what is done in this thread?

go where i said, sift through the options and enable the shoutbox. once you do, go to your forumhome page and it will be below your navbar.

The chatbox is already activated. Are you sure its shoutbox instead of chatbox? I don't see shoutbox in the options.

Can you tell me what that option is called on the left side in the column where i need to look?

SnapOff Racing 11-14-2009 06:37 PM

chatbox/shoutbox...same thing. if it's properly activated, it would show up on your forum home where all the sections are at the very top.

sounds to me you haven't properly enabled it. if u don't know where the settings are, it's disabled by default.

they're on the top left of the admincp.

The option to enable it is in 'general options':

Activation of the chatbox
Activate the chatbox yes/no

Those .DS_Store files, do they need to be in the forum root too?

Edit:

Im having a hard time understanding this one:

2. Upload the content of the Images in each of your forum styles directories.

The only 'styles' dir i know is Images, right?

elwachiman 11-15-2009 03:47 AM

Is this compatible with 4.0 beta3 ???

Jeweetog 11-15-2009 10:22 AM

I already installed it 4 times... I still dont see it :(

Jeweetog 11-15-2009 10:38 AM

Do i need to import a chat from the option import chats?

Jeweetog 11-15-2009 10:40 AM

The default name of the chatbox is:

Chatbox filename: mgc_cb_evo

But i saw there is an ajax version of it too: mgc_cb_evo_ajax.php

Is the default one the right one?

LB1981 11-15-2009 03:01 PM

I would like have the Chatbox in the Sidebar.
How I can to do that ?

Sorry for my bad english

LakeAnna 11-15-2009 03:02 PM

Running 3.8.3 and just uploaded the latest chat version.

Everything loads fine - the chat box is visible etc. But when I go to type text and hit enter the text disappears from the input field but doesnt display in the chat window.

But if I go in to the archives I can see my chat messages as being logged.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Can you please tell me the steps you did to make it work?
I read the manual on how to do it. But i get the feeling that he did not say everything.

Because to him its all natural to do 'this' and to do 'that'. I'm a newbie, I don't know what i'm missing, but tried a lot of things..

Thanks in advance!

Where can I configure this:

Installation is finished, you just have to set the permissions of your usergroups so that they can see the chatbox

I can't find that option?

I just followed the steps in the read me doc from the download and loaded each of the files in to the various folders as stated. Then made sure in the products option in the VB admin control panel that it was enabled and then in the Chat options made sure the chat was enabled - have you been able to verify those? If not I can give more details.

I thought maybe it was a permission issue but like you - not sure where the permissions options are stored to see who can do what.

Kind of a frustrating process.

I uploaded all the files and folders and had the option 'merge' clicked, because the folders already existed. And i confirmed all files where uploaded.

Did you do the Ds_store files as well?

The chatbox has been enabled and product (i think you mean this option: Enable Plugin/Hook System), is enabled too.

Edit:

Btw, i got the version 3.8.4 vbulletin

LakeAnna 11-16-2009 01:27 PM

I did upload the DS_Store

LakeAnna 11-16-2009 01:44 PM

Permission - go in to the admin CP -> click on usergroups -> select registered users or some other user group, scroll to the bottom you should see chat permissions there.

My problem is everything in enabled but it still doesnt display the actual chats in the chat box just in the logs. Kinda makes life fun...

One site I deal with they have set up really goofy, Their forums home page is not their .com page. I had to put files in both the forums directory as well as the publichtml directory, th3en upload the xml files.

That fix above cleared up all my problems though.

think u could upload both versions of these files you've modified? I tried making the above fixes and it went from working to saying "loading..."

I must've somehow done it wrong. Only reason I want to fool with it, is about 10 percent of my users say they keep having to manually refresh to see new posts. maybe this wouldn't help that. I know it's not a usergroup permissions issue, because they're all part of the same usergroup and 90 percent of the people don't have issues.
