Not a server error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting ')' in /home/content/40/6435240/html/dbtech/vbshout/includes/class_core.php on line 2534

Please allow the file to complete upload before reporting errors. That is a common message to receive when uploading large PHP files if you try to access it while it is uploading.

That's what I am trying to explain:

That file and ONLY that file will not overwrite. Even deleting the class_core.php file from the includes folder and re-uploading it produces the error posted above.

I've have your mod since the initial release and have never before had an issue with any file installation or upgrade of this modification.

The CHMOD permissions are set to 777

It can't be a conflict with another modification since the file is only part of this modification.

If you're convinced the error is on my end I'll simply have to leave the modification uninstalled. Shameful. One of the best functions of our forums and well worth the investment in the Pro Version. Now I have reservations as to whether or not that version would cause the same issues.

note* i just spent 45 minutes talking to the hosting tech about this issue. there has been no change in server performance in the last 60 days. this is regarding the issue described above.

Nice mod.
I'm going to add my name to those that would like to see a CMS widget for the Shoutbox.
It's just not worth the money to go Pro without allowing visitors to my front page to see and access the Shoutbox as well.

Other modifications or indeed your entire vBulletin installation is irrelevant to the ability to upload a file. Your FTP program or FTP server may be set up to disallow uploading files over a certain size.

Truth is, I have no idea. Nobody has produced any Google-able FTP program error messages and I have never encountered this issue before on any of the hundreds of sites I have uploaded files (and indeed these files) to =/

You can add the shoutbox to the CMS by switching to manual deployment and follow the on-screen instructions to add the variable to the FORUMHOME and one of the CMS templates :)

I believe I've discovered the reason why the file wouldn't upload.

One of our members at our forum also encountered this issue, and it would appear that security software on the server was preventing the file upload from completing. It blocked the file because it had a specific PHP function in it (base64_decode). That function was part of a commented-out (inert, not running) block of code, which I have now removed.

Try re-downloading the zip and re-uploading the file, it should work now :)
