It seems google is spidering again. So far the amount of pages indexed has more than doubled!! It's the highest it's ever been: http://www.google.com/search?num=100...=Google+Search

Khashyar 06-22-2003 03:13 PM

Thank you very much for this EASY to install, and wonderful script.

I installed it with no problems whatsoever.

Thank you,

Xenon 06-24-2003 07:09 AM

Nixpeiler 06-24-2003 08:01 AM

mfg

Xenon 06-24-2003 08:05 AM

Das unknown location siehste nur als admin, alle andren sehen ein Main Index.
Das zu ?ndern is nich so einfach, da die seiten die da dynamisch erzeugt werden nciht der struktur der normalen boarddatein entsprechen ;)

Just to let everyone know, the google update is all done. After an almost 3 month stint, google finally did a dance. So if you want to see how the archive has helped your site, just type in "site:www.yourdomain.com yourdomain". In other words, if my site was http://www.yahoo.com, I would type in:

site:www.yahoo.com yahoo

cheers,
Skuzzy

Hi:

Does anyone know if this script will work with VB 2.30?

Thanks

Xenon 06-25-2003 03:19 PM

yes it does

Khashyar 06-25-2003 04:40 PM

Yes it does work with 2.3 (my site is a VB 2.3 site).

I ahve not had my forum archives spidered yet, but... I look forward to the results once it is.

Thanks again for a great script and addition to VB.

SkuZZy,
Is that what losing 2/3'rds of my links was all about? I had 23,300 in Google there for a while.. Then it went down to 16,000 or so.. Then all the way down to 7,540.. I was starting to get a little sick! Now, after checking, I am back up to over 19,000 and climbing.

FlyBoy73 06-30-2003 12:45 AM

Is there any way to check the number of links in MSN/Inktomi?

Yes, that was what happened. Google did a 2 month rollback temporarily so you lost some pages. It's all good now though, and google will be updating as normal.

Hey guys... I just changed servers now i am getting an error:
Warning: main() [function.main]: stream does not support seeking in http://www.xtremods.com/vbulletin/archive/footer.php on line 0

here is the URL to my archives:
http://www.xtremods.com/vbulletin/archive/

Any idea what i am missing??? everything used to work...

Prince 07-03-2003 03:42 AM

I have a question:

If I/we upgrade to vB3 how will this effect all of our indexed pages in Google with this hack? Do we just leave this hack in place along with vB3's Archive? Will that work? Or do we just have to start over with vB3 and getting our Archives indexed again?

Sabrina 07-04-2003 09:12 PM

great hack! thank you. :classic:

Well, THANKS for your help! :D

Just kidding. I fixed it and it now works with Apache2. You have to add this to your http.conf:

AcceptPathInfo On

Add this where you put all your AllowOverride stuff or in your VirtualHost paramaters. Enjoy folks.

http://www.mysticwicks.com/archive/

Now I just have to pretty it up.

CLicks INSTALL.

Please add me to the list, Xenon!

I have been trying to add the line AcceptPathInfo On, but can't find the correct place to put it! i have put it in incorrect place and http wouldn't run :(
Can anyone please help
btw, I am using Apache 1.3.27

I also tried to turn all allowoverride
but seems not working

I figured it out - in my httpd.conf file AllowOverride was set to none for my entire htdocs directory. All I had to do was turn on AllowOverride for that directory and it's working now.

I could still use help on how to have it pull the data from my slave server but look like it's coming from the main. TIA

thank you so much

DanIAm 07-07-2003 03:15 AM

I am using:

<?php
header("Location:http://www.mysite.com/forums");
?>

as an index.php so when typing my sites URL you are automatically forwarded right to the forum homepage.

Will this cause any interference with search engines out there being able to spider my site? I want to install this hack that makes it easy for Google to spider my site and index it, but I am worried if it will work the same since I am using the redirect.

Please help,
Thanks

Code:

Warning: main(): stream does not support seeking in /home/sebi/kacknub/forum/archive/index.php on line 103

Warning: main(): stream does not support seeking in /home/sebi/kacknub/forum/archive/index.php on line 116

what?s wrong?

Freezerator 07-08-2003 06:00 AM

How long does it take to get listed at google for instance?

And how do i now it works? because i have installed the hack, but i don't have a clue if it is spiderable?

jw791 07-10-2003 02:35 AM

Well it worked great for awhile...1000 pages in google, 100x more traffic, but now it semi works, but the header includes give me an error.

Any php gurus have any ideas? I have not changed the scripts at all, but I believe my host upgraded the php build not too long ago.

Error:

What is a good pop-up program?

I want this hack to generate some cash for my forums for better hosting, so with wich pop-up company should i go?

Thanx in advance

pgowder 07-14-2003 11:27 PM

In your expereince, how long does it take for Google to start picking these up?

Guidster 07-15-2003 02:47 AM

There are 37 pages of information preceding this one that answer most, if not all of these questions. Search the thread and you will find your answers!

Pikok 07-21-2003 07:01 AM

This has most liekly been answered somewhere in this thread already, but there's so many page of replies I probably missed it. Does this work on a Win server or is a *nix required?

You just need a machine with apache webserver.

So if you have a win server with apache there is no problem.

Pikok 07-21-2003 09:25 AM

Cold Fusion/Web/ (Windows 2000 Server)
Dual PIII 1Ghz/1.5 GB RAM running Microsoft IIS 5.0, Cold Fusion Enterprise Server v4.51

Server's running REAL Server G2, SSH2 Server, SERV-U FTP Server, FireDaemon, Windmail, Analog, Report Magic, GnuPG, PHP4.2.3, Active Perl V 5.6.0.116, FrontPage 2002/SharePoint Extensions, and the .NET framework. RAID 5 Configurations for redundancy with SCSI LVD Ultra 160 Hard Drives.

Suppose I can't use this hack then? Would Teck's be usable if not this one? :confused:

pgowder 07-21-2003 03:20 PM

My Google page count has gone down about 150 since I installed this hack. I have submitted it to Google and put a link on every page to the archive. Any other suggestions?

Is there anyway to see googlebots in vBulletin?

Freezerator 07-22-2003 07:12 AM

Is there an solution for the online.php unknow location?

Infopro 07-22-2003 12:20 PM

This needs a bit of updating for the latest version of MySQL to work properly. has anyone had the time to address this by chance?
You can view the errors here..

What version are you running?

I'm on MySQL 4.0.12 and it's working great.

noppid 07-22-2003 01:23 PM

The only thing I recall changing for newer php versions is the includes in the index.php. They are old and call files with the file URL. Change the includes to server absolute paths.
ie. "/home/sitename/public_html/forums/archives/header.php" Instead of...

For online locations we use this code with this hack in online.php...

Code:

// is the user in the archives hack
    $myfind='/\/forums\/archives/';
      if( preg_match($myfind,$userinfo[location])){
        $userinfo[where] = "Browsing the <A href=\"http://www.lakecs.com/forums/archives/\">Archives</A>";
      }
//  END is the user in the archives hack

This is placed at approx line 285 at the end of the switch statments default code. It works for us. It's not tested. It's not a released add-on hack.

Infopro 07-22-2003 06:17 PM

Ver 4.0.13 is what I've got here.

noppid, thanks, I'll give it a go and post back. :)

This fixed it thanks alot. :)

Line 103 and line 116
edited this $archiveurl/header.php & $archiveurl/footer.php
as you suggested but in index.php for archive. All fixed.
