One thing I would request tho is if I can move your credits to the footer of the page. It has a little less exposure there but it will be on all pages. Let me know.

dartho 09-27-2010 12:44 AM

I'm not really fussed, it's not my product, I just ported it - it's just a bit cheeky to be asking for support whilst removing credit.

Not sure if the original author had a branding free option - contact him and find out, although it wouldn't take anyone with a couple brain cells more than a minute to google and find out what the product is anyway.

Back to your problem - have you absolutely confirmed it is an issue and not just an "I'm pretty sure this happens"?

neverstop 09-27-2010 12:56 AM

Youre 100% right about it being cheeky. I really do feel like a jackass.

This is 100% confirmed as in this admin will post in the thread: "I have x credits before I settle this bet, I should have y credits if it pays me properly." Then he settles the bet and he doesnt get paid. We have made a bunch of dummy events trying to trouble shoot and I cant make heads or tails of it.

dartho 09-27-2010 01:42 AM

Do his credits go down when he places a bet, do they get returned when a book is abandoned?

DS MrSinister 09-27-2010 03:03 PM

bet statistics error seems to be back sir.
got vbookie 4.0.9 installed.

Code:

OK I just settled a bet that I created a week or so ago. I was the only winner on the event and I did not receive my winnings. So it seems if you create an event you only get paid if someone else settles the bet.

Credits definitely go down when a bet is made, I havent abandoned any events but I will create a dummy event and see.

mikem164 09-28-2010 06:50 PM

In the Forum title where it says "vbookie:" where can I change vbookie to another word, like "football". Other than that, it's perfect so far, thanks!!

DS MrSinister 09-28-2010 07:03 PM

do a Search in Phrases vbookie_event_thread_prefix. make sure u have Phrase Text and Phrase Variable Name click.

neverstop 10-01-2010 02:45 AM

Just settled an event where there was no winner and none of the betters received their wagers back.

Am I the only one having these problems?

dartho 10-01-2010 04:50 AM

That is expected behaviour - if there is no winner - everyone loses and the bookie makes a motza. If you wish to return all stakes, you should abandon the event.

neverstop 10-01-2010 04:52 AM

ahh fair enough. ty

neverstop 10-01-2010 04:00 PM

Not sure if this is another feature but I cannot edit the number of outcomes on events that I did not create, I get the standard vbulletin permission denied page.

Code:

neverstop, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Editing the # of outcomes on my own events works fine.

I am of course in admin usergourp and admin has all creating/editing privs

neverstop 10-01-2010 04:02 PM

Another bug:

When editing an event the Accept bets month gets changed to the payout month. For example:

I have an event where bets close in october, and bets payout in november. When I go to edit the event the "accept bets until" month always says november. Its not a big deal and is easy to just change the month before you hit save but I thought you would want to know

Confirmed both of these. 2nd one is a quick fix, I'll look into the 1st one

not built in, but I should add that sometime. If you really need to add an event to an existing thread, you can manually craft the URL to do so.

Take note of the threadid, and then head to the URL "vbookie.php?t=nn&do=newevent" where nn is the thread ID, you should then be able to add a book to the thread.

Just an FYI, I tried doing this to a thread that I didnot create and got a permission denied error. Maybe it checks the userid of the thread starter rather than the current user?

dartho 10-06-2010 10:29 PM

It does check thread starter as part or auth checking in addition to other permissions

tms433 10-12-2010 03:18 AM

This would be perfect for what I'm trying to do.. it installed fine, I told it groups 4,5,6 (mods & admins, basically) could create bets.. but it seems as though no one can.. or we at least can't find an option to.

When you create a thread look down by where you check the box for a poll. There is an option there to "add book event to thread" (or similar).

sticky 10-14-2010 12:44 AM

Would it be possible to add a max bet limit on certain events?

stb74 10-19-2010 09:02 PM

I am trying to get vbookie to work with DBtech vBCredits II and have set my Cash/Points system to Custom.

When I try and create a new event I get the following error.

Code:

Database error in vBulletin 4.0.7:

Already have they told me to ask here.

dartho 10-20-2010 11:14 PM

That query which it is having an issue with is not from vBookie

neverstop 10-25-2010 05:06 PM

Quick question:

What does the "F" mean beside the odds? ie: 83/100 F

Just curious

had a problem today where someone bet on an event and no credits were removed from their total.

These problems seem to be random and I cant make heads or tails of when or why they happen

stb74 10-26-2010 01:27 PM

I know this is not a vbookie problem just though I would ask, when I access the vbookie page it takes my custom style ok about from the header/footer.

Anyone any ideas where I should look to try and fix that, thanks.

BF777 10-28-2010 05:07 PM

I recently upgraded my forum from 4.3 to 4.8. Now I don't have the option to create a vbookie event. What do I have to edit/fix in order to have that option again?

BF777 11-02-2010 03:27 PM

Ok, I fixed my last problem. Now the VCash isn't displaying under a User's Profile info. How do I correct this?

It's been awhile since I've messed with it or changed the settings, but I believe there are forum permissions as well that enable/disable the ability to post vbookie events (ex: in "forum permissions" click on the usergroup you want to be able to use vbookie and confirm they have the ability to do so for that specific forum.. I want to say by default they do not but again it's been a few years since I installed it).

Was looking at this thread because I think I'm going to take my site from 4.0.3 to 4.0.8 soon and just wanted to make sure there weren't any issues between vb and this mod (and from the looks it it seems to be working fine for most).

thanks a lot Dartho the constant updates and support for this has been awesome- vbookie's been a big part of our site for ~5yrs and it's really impressive to see how you're been able to update + develop it.

Only issue I have is that randomly one user (random user + random period of time from what I can tell) is getting a TON of vcash (an insane amount) but I also have the gameroom using the vcash so I'm not sure which one is causing that error- has anyone else experienced this? It's totally random and happens once every 4-6 months or so (and has been happening for years).

not a big deal, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this

dartho 11-03-2010 10:14 PM

I'm yet to update to 4.0.8, and with 4.0.9 just around the corner, I'll likely wait for that now.

@BF777 - I don't think vCash balances have ever showed in user profiles? What was teh issue with being unable to create a new event?

Sharkyman 11-04-2010 12:09 PM

I am going mad. I followed the install, as above. It's appeared on my menu bar. I can change options in the ACP. I've added the correct usergroup ID and doublechecked all the settings but, people's vcash value is not being shown and I can't create any betting markets either in the ACP/MOD Panel.

http://www.doublefinish.com/vbul/vbookie.php

Help!!

What am I doing wrong? How do you create markets? Have I got the permissions wrong?

DS MrSinister 11-04-2010 01:12 PM

did you check the box for creating your vBookie event in a post which you are alouding vBookie event to be made?

Yes, post a vBookie Event with this thread

double check your admincp settings and usergroup permissions also check you plugin manager.

.

The option isn't there to do so. I can post a poll as admin, but I can't see where to change the permissions to allow me to change the vbookie options in the user permissions section.

DS MrSinister 11-04-2010 01:51 PM

I see you are using vBookie 4.0.6. upgrade to 4.0.9 see if that helps.

Under AdminCP

UserGroup and check each gruoup.
