Trystan^ 03-18-2011 07:39 PM

I have the same problem than you.

I tried to implement tabs with dhtml.

It is great.

-The tabs have no delay.100% speed.
-The collapsable button works perfect.
-The tranlations sistems works into tabs.
-The tabs remeber the last tabb you take when you returns.

Just one and big problem.

I have no idea how can I put differents categories with dinamic content into each tab. I can put differents forums in each tab, but they are static, not recharges the new post into....

I need collaboration to make a condicional that loads only the selected categories into:

<!-- main -->
{vb:raw template_hook.forumhome_above_forums}
<ol id="forums" class="floatcontainer">
{vb:raw forumbits}
</ol>
{vb:raw template_hook.forumhome_below_forums}
<!-- /main -->

I think it´s possible...
Can anyone help us?

Did any find a solution to it?

Rock Anthony 03-19-2011 07:59 PM

I've installed this mod on my test environment (vBulletin 4.1.2).

While I haven't done any comprehensive regression testing (to ensure that no other site functionality has been broken), so far I can testify that this mod is working as described.

I love it. If all is well after I've performed the regressions, I'll install this to my live site.

Great Job!!!!

The various forum categories are collapsible. The YUI Tabbed Forum addon doesn't play nicely when any category is collapsed - all of the skin formatting is lost on the ensuing screen.

Please try to reproduce.

Santori 03-20-2011 10:58 AM

Yes, my friend, all have the same problem, for that reason I need help to change YUI to dynamic drive.

this is a known bug. I've just not had anytime to look into it, let alone fix it. You can strip out all the collapse stuff to prevent users from trying to collapse.

I think I'll do just that. This mod is more valuable than collapsible forum categories.

Thanks for the wonderful mod!

HELLO!

I,m very happy!! I finally working with the same library that worked Bobster to make his first plugin(https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...bed+forum+home )and I readapted to VB4!!!

Obvious, all is made by hand, I have no idea to make a VB product.

I?m not a coder, but I work long time hardly anf finally it works!!!
All the problems are resolved.

- Tabbed forum home
- NO DELAY in tabs, very, very faster.
- Tabs works with vBET Translation sistem or anymore.
- The tabs can COLLAPSE 100%.
- The Tab REMEMBER the last tab you take, when you return from subforums....

You can check it at my forum, please go to footer and select "Test style".

And would this be SEO friendly if so would you be kind enough to share.

I was going to try and attempt this myself but I doubted my ability.

By the looks of your test you have done a very good job!.

Popa Andrei 03-24-2011 01:44 AM

is this ever going to be updated?

Santori 03-25-2011 10:43 PM

Ok...I will make a little tutorial when I have time...

ZeroHour 04-01-2011 11:40 AM

Hi
I have a few tweaks for you all if you like.
You can see how we implemented it at:
http://www.edugeek.net/forums/
I would be happy to contribute to this project bobster as I am already manually tweaking our install currently.
I have merged all the YUI code together with vbulletin uses to save speed (this would pretty much always be manual edit) and I have added some css for a *loading* splash.
The loading splash still needs a little tweaking but it looks a lot better.
I also have a few ideas about SEO but tbh all I wouldnt worry to much if your feeding google sitemaps etc as no content wont be found.

Trystan^ 04-01-2011 03:54 PM

I would be very interested in your fixes,

Love your site browse it at work all the time ;)

Hi Zero .. ive recently upgraded to 4.1.2 .. and have noticed people have had problems with this tabbed system mod since vb updated, using bobsters code from the installation and ur code ..should all this work ? or does bobsters code need altering?

Thanks for your help

Eddie

I am running 4.1.2 without issue. Inside the zip is a gif and an edit you make to the CSS which should be all safe to implement :)
I am not sure why people would have issues with 4.1.2 unless they had messed up the template edits due to them reverting templates.
Drop me a pm with your site url and I will see if there is anything obvious.

If you went from 4.0.1->4.1.2 be prepared to hand merge the forumhome changes but vbulletin is much easier to merge now. If your reinstalling after the template edits are sorted its pretty much as per the instructions. Most issues I suspect is down to people making the odd mistake with the template merges.

Replied,
The fix involved removing the background colour set for the tab content area which in the css was set white but really needn't be.

DjEddie 04-04-2011 04:12 PM

replied back and all sorted works like a charm and looks good too ..thanks :)

Is it possible to pull in single forum (forumdisplay) in each tab so that I can make a site like vb.org. I read through about 17 pages and didn't yet find it.

Thanks and ofcourse, this is a great MOD.

Santori 04-06-2011 07:27 PM

Hi, I now are implementing and testing another feature to my particular modification.
I have the idea to put code isntead forums. This is very usefull to put banners, functiones, widgets or anything that you need. I the example I put a little google map.

Yes, it?s possible.
You must put in a tab all the categories you need.
You need to decide what are the thematic of each tab and put the categories in consecuence.

reddyink 04-07-2011 12:04 PM

Thanks for the reply. I just have one category and would like level 2 forumdisplay.php displayed with threads (threadbits) instead of list of categories/forums.

Inside the tab, I would like have threads like
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=245

Thank you.

No it's not, sorry. Not really even sure what you said past yes, but it's not. Not that I can tell anyway.

Anyone who has this installed, try and collapse one of your cats. From what I can tell, clicking collapse blows up your sites style. Try it and see.

Most of these files for this mod are years old. It may work somewhat but is it using the latest fixes and updates in line with vb? I'm not sure.

I don't believe most all of this CSS is needed either.
