When I click on "tweet this post" i get this error:

"Woah there!
This page is no longer valid. It looks like someone already used the token information you provided. Please return to the site that sent you to this page and try again … it was probably an honest mistake."

Got past this problem but when i click 'Tweet this thread' the post never appears. I saw that a few others had this problem.

Everything is setup correctly as I can see. Will check the installation procedure again but its all done.

I just attempt to tweet and nothing happens

Also... I noticed a feature in your screenshots that I don't see on my board after installation. "tweet this post' is only availble from the thread tools drop down. There's no link to it next to the permalink like in your example. Is that a defect?

Look here:

squishi 07-15-2009 05:24 AM

So what's new in v1.0.4?
Maybe you could add the features to the first post?

Cybertims 07-15-2009 06:43 AM

All works well except when it posts to Twitter it doesn't post a link as such....just some text. There is no more tinyurl link in the twitter update.

Cheers

Sorry if my question is already posted but I can't posibly read 35 pages.

1. Will this work with vbseo or it is irrelevant? (Don't have it yet but planning to..)

2. I did everything as the instructions says, or so I think, and
I'm not seeing the twitter icon
I'm getting this error when click on the Twitter feature. (See attachment)
Any help I will appreciate very much.

bojomojo 07-15-2009 01:11 PM

This didnt make a "check this out" tweet.. it made a tweet saying: "I have successfully set up my account to work with vBTwitter at one of the sites I visit! (This message means it was successful!)"

mykkal 07-15-2009 01:26 PM

Hey I got first dibs on King this morning lol!

I still can't get it to tweet.

mykkal 07-15-2009 01:42 PM

This is amazing... Actually vbtwitter is working for my other users but not for me!
Whenever I try to tweet a thread nothing happens. How do I fix this?

also, it still says "check this out" for the users that twitter does work for? Thats only reason i upgraded! "Check this out" is mostly useless. There's been an 8 month discussion on that?

mykkal 07-15-2009 02:04 PM

King, please make me a priority this morning.

I cleared the OAUTH fields to in an attempt to resetup my account to twtter. It allowed me to authenticate to twitter but now I cannot log into my site! whenever I use my password it tells me it cannot authenticate me. why is this?

Its definitely related to the vbtwitter app. only the users that I deleted the tokens for are having this problem. All the other users are not.

I'm absolutely sure i'm logging in correctly. please assist this is urgent becuase i have jobs we've been paid to post and cannot.

MichaelaS 07-15-2009 03:17 PM

Hey King, I am having a problem (of course) :)

After I installed and configured vB Twitter (which was smooth and easy..THANKS!), it seems that I am having a problem making any post on twitter at all..in fact when I hit "Tweet this Thread!" all that seems to happen is a page refresh - no twitter.

Any ideas?

Thanks man, you rock!

that means your application is set to read only. Even if you fix it you will still have problems. create a new application set it up as read & write access and then use it. if you use the application on the wrong settings in the beginning that user is screwed. you can change it to the correct settings and other users setting up the application will work fine but the user that authorizes the app under read only is screwed

MichaelaS 07-15-2009 04:27 PM

Thanks! that does make sense. You rock!

I wonder if there is a way to "reset" a user's settings so that the person is no longer screwed..

fmckinnon 07-15-2009 05:10 PM

Hooray - glad I waited - will do a clean install this evening and report!

mykkal 07-15-2009 05:23 PM

i uninstalled. I'll reinstall when the "check this out!" portion is changed to custom titles and links.

I've heard Oauth is a improvement but for myself and my users... there's nothing different here. I need custom thread titles. We all do :)

Great work King. Let me know when you take that big step we've all been wanting :)

There's no link? It auto posts a test tweeting saying a successful authorization.

I have no vBSEO support, it redirects to the direct link. I don't have vBSEO. No twitter icon? In the thread drop down.

If you uninstall and reinstall, it will remove OAuth tokens. I am not sure if deleting tokens such as that will screw everyone over...

This update only has check this out. That was intentional. All major feature updates, such as custom titles and links are found in v1.1. That has been the plan all along. I'm just tired of dealing with mcrypt so I made this quick update. I'm sorry that it isn't "up to your par," but it's all your going to get right now. Until v1.1 is ready, you'll have it. Give it the time it needs...

OAuth integration. The second post in this thread (Comment #1) is the change log.

If you are talking about the "Twitter" Drop down, that's only in v1.1. But what feature don't you see? And it should still appear there. It's fine.

Hi, this is what I have, please see the attachted pics, I don't know technicalities but I guess I did it right, could it be my server or I'm missing something? :)

I think I did it like on Upgrading to v1.0.4 instead of the simple Installation, did I took the hard way?

Did you just install the .xml and not upload all the files found in /upload/? As that would cause all your errors. Because it looks like you just installed the .xml.

barcena 07-16-2009 07:00 AM

Hum... lenme double check.

Know what I will uninstall and install the product again. Thanks King, I will let you know. :)

Update:

King bear with me here please (or any other member willing to help me out) as I'm not expert or anything. The file named Upload.. when I try to upload anything from there it will give me an error, it only allows me to upload (trought products and plugins) the XML file. What should I do step by step please?.

Meaning, there's a file named vBTwitter v1.0.4==>Upload file/product XML==>Images/Includes/4 other files==>etcetc

When you say
Quote:

Upload files in the /upload/ folder of the .zip into the directories as is.
What are the directories? Sorry about my ignorance but I want to learn and do it myself.

Thanks :)

The upload folder is set up as a root folder. They need to be uploaded looking in the structure. So if you go into your forum root on your site through ftp, the 4 files go there. Then you go into /includes/ and upload those, etc.

OK - installed, and working perfectly.

Now, please tell us where we can make modifications:
1 - how to change the "Tweet This Post" wording, and/or add a "Tweet This" graphic.
2 - how to change the location of #1 above.
3 - how to change the default "Check this out" text.

Thanks a million!

1 & 3 = phrases. Search for phrase varnames starting with twitter_. 2 is a bit harder... It'll be much easier in the next version (right now, it searches the code). You could put the code in manually.

scottjonesqpr 07-18-2009 02:25 PM

Wonder if anyone can help.

I have this installed on my forum but get this

Fatal error: Call to undefined function curl_init() in /home/default/wearetherangersboys.com/user/htdocs/forum/includes/class_twitterOAuth.php on line 115

scottjonesqpr 07-18-2009 02:25 PM

sorry, thats what the page shows when i hit "tweet this post"

fmckinnon 07-18-2009 02:27 PM

King - OK, got #1 and #3 done - check it out - I'm using a graphic now, instead of the text:
http://www.theworshipcommunity.com/f...e-million.html.

On #3 - I'm not afraid of tweeking the code to add manually, just now sure where to pull the actual code from, and where to insert it ...

A couple of new questions:
1 - now that I'm authorized, when I tweet a post or thread, I get no confirmation or any indication that it happened. It *DOES* happen, but as soon as I click on "Tweet This ...", the page reloads and there is no confirmation. As a result, I fear that our users will think it's broken, and will keep clicking the "Tweet This" over and over. Where am I supposed to be seeing a confirmation, or is this something that has to be enabled?

2 - because of the way the single post looks - I'd rather ONLY give the option to "tweet this thread" ... how can I change the code so that in the post headers, it's the "tweet this thread" option INSTEAD of the "tweet this post" option?

3 - when I did the initial oauth authorization, I was logged into the wrong twitter account. How can I deauthorize my twitter account with my userID and start over re-authorizing with my other twitter ID?

Thanks in advance!
FRED

scottjonesqpr 07-18-2009 02:49 PM

I'd really like some help on this - trying to figure it out on my own but im struggling - i love this feature and it DID work before the upgrade :(

sorry for being a numpty

You don't have cURL installed on your server. COntact your host.

So now, when logged in as that user, it doesn't post to Twitter because of this, but the userID in vbulletin doesn't "know" it needs to be re-auth with a different account - when I attempt to use the "tweet this" links, I'm wanting to get a new oauth process, but nothing happens - how can I reset that userID in vbulletin to start over w/ oauth?

Well to answer them both. Tweet this post: do you want it as part of the thread? There's a switch for that. For the resetting, I believe you can reauthorize through the settings using the correct user information. Just go to twitter_auth.php again. (Not tested). And nice image. ;) And there's no confirmation in v1.0. It was a dumb design. And in v1.1 I plan on trying to add a little check mark through AJAX.

fmckinnon 07-18-2009 03:05 PM

King,
Thanks ... I just deleted my followup ... I revoked permissions in Settings > Connections on the wrong twitter account, and then manually went into phpmyadmin and deleted the oauth info from my user profile in the mySQL database - maybe that wasn't the easy way, but it worked. Now, I went to tweet it and got the oauth, which i did on my correct account.

Is there a way to make it NOT do the "I have successfully setup ..." tweet on the first post? Users won't understand that they have to do their first "tweet this" twice - once for the oauth, and again for the actual post.

scottjonesqpr 07-18-2009 03:08 PM

i have curl installed appara, i checked and they said 101% i do?

if they're lieing to me (wouldnt surprise me) is there an idiots guide of how to do that?

cheers

Can this mod allow auto-tweeting when a topic is created so that it tweets immediately to the users account (if they've set up their account in the options page??)

DoA

ZiG 07-23-2009 02:00 AM

what about a reverse vbtwitter, where your members can link their twitter account to the website and everytime they tweet it is fed to the vb. so user tweets can show up on a CMPS or CMS?

Currently, the way that OAuth works, is that it doesn't send back any information. I can't say "tid" and have it returned. So, if they set it up first, it works. If not, they are screwed. Sorry to say it.

That would be like an RSS feed. But no.

yea sorry, i realize this mod doesn't support something like that. yea exactly, an rss feed but defined by the users of your vbulletin who enter their twitter info. so members of your community can get t know each other better by browsing through their tweets on a CMPS page or forum index. just a suggestion.

Installed and think it is great, however i would like to know how to prevent post from priviae sections from being twitted? I just finished trying to read the vbfacebook thread and my head is baked, imsorry if this has already been addressed. please link or suggest a solution. Thanks so much

Biker_GA 07-29-2009 08:04 PM

If Guests can't see the forum, it shouldn't appear in Twitter, even if someone attempts to post it. However, you can also set Twitter permissions via Forum Permissions. You'll have to do it for each forum you wish to prevent from being "Tweeted".

No matter how many times you attempt to access something a private forum, if you don't have access, it won't show. All vBTwitter does is provide a way to post to Twitter and handle a relink back. vBulletin does the rest (showing the post, permissions, etc.).

Not a bad idea for v1.1 or v2.0 or later... But you have the wrong modification. ;)

Biker_GA 07-30-2009 09:33 PM

DOH! That's the other plugin I installed at the same time. **facepalm**

mykkal 08-02-2009 04:45 PM

It still says "CHECK THIS OUT!" when I tweet. I thought the thread title was a promised feature in the next release? King, what did I just pay some college kid to upgrade me too? I told you i'd pay for the thread title. Even though I know you did some work on this behind the scenes to make it better somehow... Its the same as before to me.

Is there going to be a quick update that actually tweets the thread titles? I didn't lose much but I could have used it to dev the thread titles into your old plugin at least. kinda feels like wasted time.

sorry but thats how i felt.

mykkal 08-02-2009 04:49 PM

oh wait i see. you said 1.1. when does 1.1 have an eta? Sorry i asked you out of order. i really thought this was it.
