Thats strange.

The problem I had was that if someone went to http://mysite.com it would work and it wouldnt work if someone went to http://www.mysite.com

What I did was with this step - Click on the Connect tab and set the Base Domain to your domain (siteurl.com) without the http or www.

I put the www. in and it worked fine

primetimefans 04-03-2009 07:48 PM

wow thanks. That worked, wonders :)

No worries. I just wish there was a work around posting stories without have to disable the WYSIWYG editor.

primetimefans 04-03-2009 07:54 PM

I havent made it that far yet. Only did the basic template mods. Will work on the others tonight when I start building the rest of the site.

Sure it would be. You can assign your 'facebook' users a usergroup that you can give certain permissions to.

That would not work. I need to separate the facebook users into their proper user groups. It is a academic site that has Parents students, applicants, grads and they each have their own usergroup! so if A facebook user group then they will not be in their proper usergroup. I guess I could add them via "Additional User group" but the problem is they need to be screened and I use email to let them know this. So not sure that would work?

Also, if the Facebook user already has a username and password the now have two usernames. And does the facebook users have a usercp to edit their profile info?

sensimilla 04-04-2009 04:54 PM

Is there any chance the facebook popup windows appears in different language than english ?
TIA

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/u7/cagmj1313/html/forums/includes/functions.php(5721) : eval()'d code on line 13

Can anyone please tell me why I am getting a password and username incorrect message?

That is the furthest I have been able to get with this mod and I want to use it.

Please let me know

Yes I veryfied the password and username is correct

Mum 04-04-2009 11:56 PM

I get an odd problem - when i post a new thread - it posts on my facebook account with a new thread discussion - however it links to the forum, not the thread - isn't this a bit silly? How can i fix this?

Its at Facebooks end I believe. The connect API just seems to refuse some peoples logins even when its correct

Gkzed 04-05-2009 09:05 PM

I'm having an issue after installation of the mod. Everything seems to be working fine until I enter my facebook username and password. The next "connect with facebook" screen shows the webpage cannot be found.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey, I need some urgent help

I installed FB connect when it was out for 3.7, and I have version 2.0.2

I have now upgraded to vb 3.8

Facebook connect is still working, but I want to upgrade to 2.0.5

Will I lose my configurations/settings when doing this? Is there a specific way I should go about upgrading?

Thanks so much in advance!

Tamaz 04-06-2009 05:58 AM

I think this is a fantastic mod, but I have one question:

I would like my Facebook-registrants to have the option to fill in who recruited them to the forum, just like when using the normal registration.

This is very important for me so I can have recruitment campaigns. If anyone has an answer I would be very greatful!

Best regards,
Thomas

Thanks, Figured it out. It was the callback url. was wrong. The mod wors fantastic. People are starting to use it and they love it. This is a great community builder even though it has the major downfall that the members are not really members 100% since their not part of your database membership.
Yes I know you can still email them to their facebook account but that is just not the same.

Great mod anyway and I will use it on most of my sites.

dadymac 04-06-2009 06:30 PM

has anyone had any luck with figuring out what needs to be done to store FB info into the forum db and not just display it?

this would help tremendously for those of us who wanted to use FB as a way of approving members to a private forum.

realdx 04-06-2009 09:53 PM

installed and testing, will be back! thanks!!

want3ed 04-07-2009 02:46 PM

Raun 04-07-2009 04:51 PM

Where is the {*bbtitle*} set? I wanted to change this to display the name of the forums.

MoveOver.cc 04-08-2009 08:42 AM

Hi,

Can someone please help me on the following -

Step 1:

?Set the Callback URL to your vBulletin url (example: http://www.siteurl.com/forum/)

Please advise which part of the application this is found in -

Basic
Authentication
User Profiles
Pages
Canvas
Connect
Widgets
or Advanced

Thanks

realdx 04-08-2009 11:29 AM

I placed everywhere where "callback url" is requested.. I guess I also got the proper one as everything seems to work!! :-D

skylab 04-08-2009 12:57 PM

I have users installing the app on facebook without going to the website and clicking on Connect To Facebook button. Anyway I can resolve this? There also seems to be an iframe of the website on facebook when they install the app on facebook?

RidinHighSpeeds 04-08-2009 02:05 PM

Is there an easier way for already registered forum members to create a tie with their facebook account and forum account? Currently I had to log out of the web site, select facebook connect to enter in my details which would then create the tie..

It would be very user-friendly if the "Facebook Connect" icon was always available IF there currently is no tie with the users account and facebook.. Then the user would select the icon and enter in his/her login credentials to create the tie..

Not sure how the tie is made.. Do they have to add the application in facebook and then the tie is made??

I get the same iframe which doesn't look to great in the application..I think this is necessary though?

Hi Thanks for this Mod it looks great :) But..... ( there is always a "but")

I have installed this on a test forum and I have noticed that when you register by using the FB mod it does not transfere or ask for a password for the forum. This is fine if a user always uses the FB app to log in BUT
I the user had to log in by traditional methoods they would get the "username password" incorrect because there is no password in the forum database.

Should you build a large number of users with this and then remove the FB mod you would have alot of users needing to request passwords.

Maybe there is away to force a redirect a new FB regristration to a page where they have to fill in there real email and password before using the forum?

Cheers

Madotds

That would be a great option...I am looking for the same.

Just installed the Facebook connect on two different vBulletin instalations.

I am getting this annoying one liner error at the top of both forums now, can figure out what is is. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.
When I disable the Facebook connect product the error disappears.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/tvallyc/public_html/includes/functions.php(5586) : eval()'d code on line 9

I did these changes to function.php (a developer did this for me):

// parse PHP include ##################
if (!is_demo_mode())
{
//echo "hook = ".$hook."<br>";
//($hook = vBulletinHook::fetch_hook('global_complete')) ? eval($hook) : false;
$hook = vBulletinHook::fetch_hook('global_complete');
print_r($hook);
if($hook) eval($hook);
}

And got this:

require_once(DIR . '/includes/facebook/facebook.php'); if ($_GET['fblogout']) { if ($vbulletin->facebook == null) $vbulletin->facebook = new Facebook($vbulletin->options['fbconnect_apikey'], $vbulletin->options['fbconnect_secret']); try { $vbulletin->facebook->kill_cookies(); } catch(FacebookRestClientException $ex) { } }
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/tvallyc/public_html/includes/functions.php(5590) : eval()'d code on line 9

UPDATE:
This was actually a PHP 4 error, I had PHP 4 installed and it worked smooth as soon as I went to PHP 5.

fattony69 04-09-2009 12:32 AM

My connect button doesn't work what so ever. I had this running on another forum and it worked fine.

I am using Facebook connect with a forum using the official vBulletin blog mod.

New forum posts are posted to Facebook.
But, new blog posts are not posted to Facebook.

Please add the "Post to Facebook" feature also to blog posts.

Thank you.

DieselMinded 04-10-2009 05:27 PM

DieselMinded 04-10-2009 08:12 PM

Firefox works great but IE users cant even post threads or replies , it just says errors on this page when you hit submit on a new thread or reply , help

'frameWindow.document' is null or not an object

it only does that on IE and when using a facebook connect account

DieselMinded 04-10-2009 09:35 PM

Raun 04-12-2009 09:33 AM

I am getting an infinite loading icon and the button never appears. I reverted back to default VB Options and it works. Does anyone know what VB option would cause the infinite load icon to occur? The second that I revert back to my custom options the loading icon comes back.

emailapphost 04-13-2009 05:30 AM

When you make a new post with Facebook Connect you want your Facebook status to link to THE ACTUAL post you just made.
Unfortunately Facebook Connect instead links on your Facebook account to THE FORUM where you made your post, along with every other post on that forum.
So this confuses people who follow the link.

This should be quite easy to fix.

You'd think so, but I was looking at it, and the FB Connect part works BEFORE the post is made, so the threadid hasn't been assigned when the item is posted to FB. It would have to send to FB after the thread has been posted to be able to pass the threadid, I believe.

Merriweather 04-15-2009 05:02 PM

I posted my questions on the wrong thread previously, so here goes:

Quote:

Another request for specifying which forums can (or can't) use FB Connect. I've wrapped the edits in conditions to use them only in allowed forums, and to use the original template lines in non-allowed forums, but it would be so much easier if there was a DB entry to hold the allowed/disallowed forums and then it would set the conditionals accordingly. :)
Quote:

Also, has anyone got the thing to let users edit their settings working? I made the template edits to USERCP_SHELL and modifyprofile, but users who are using FB Connect don't see anything different in the UserCP or in Edit Email & Password.

testbot 04-16-2009 12:35 PM

i think this mod has to be updated. facebook changed the api key i think.

http://forum.developers.facebook.com...c.php?pid=5594

getting this in feeds now:
Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'FacebookRestClientException' with message 'Session key invalid or no longer valid'

dcevoclub 04-16-2009 01:39 PM

I think I missed something, however it doesn't allow current users to logon to their facebook. Where might I look?
