Hi,
I've installed this on a 3.8.2 vB board and I can see the AME CP etc etc. But from the front end I don't see anything different at all. I can't see where or how to add a YouTube video. Am I supposed to see a new icon or button when creating a new post? |
Just paste a youtube URL into a message and post. AME does the rest :)
|
Oh, right! The URL. I had assumed I had to copy in the embed code. Excellent. Thanks very much.

Hello everyone, i wont know if this mod is compatible with Zoint Social Network, becouse i have installed both, but this mod is not working.
Thank. |
I've got what I hope is a minor feature request:
Is it possible to have the mod obey the "Show Images" flag from the UserCP->Thread Display Options->Visible Post Elements when it comes to the display of the embedded video? Instead of displaying the embedded player, just display the title link to the video alone so users who have opted not to show inline images in posts don't have the inline embedded player displaying a still from the movie. |
G'day, I have encountered a problem after installing vbBlog:
Code:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=306835 I thought i'd note it here so we could work out the solution - I doubt it is very complex to solve; apologies if this has been noted - I don't have time to wade back further than 5 pages; please point if you know the answer. I'll post the fix back to vb.com when we know more. Thanks for a great mod! Will UPDATE: I have just seen this: Code:
AME vbBlog entries and comments SOLVED: by uninstalling and reinstalling AME. |
not sure if this has been asked (because I cant really do a search for flv):
Can this play .flv files?? |
Does anyone know that What is the correct value?
|
Oy Vey
It REALLY shouldn't be that complicated to add this and make it work. Does not work out of the box on a default 3.8.2 system. |
Is there a reason why AME won't show up in ADMIN CP in the navbar?
Edit: I got it working, had to uninstall old version then re-import XML. |

Installed on one vBulletin site and it works great. I just tried to install it on another and I am getting warnings like the one below when I try to convert the posts. I saw other posts about making sure all the files were transferred and into the right places. They are in the correct directories and all the files were uploaded. I used my ftp program in the "Auto" mode. Should the files be ASCII or Binary only? I also checked that the cache permissions were set to 777. Any other ideas why I would get this error?

i fresh re-install this mod but still not working on my forum ( vb 8.3.2 ) mean when i post the youtube link it show only link and not show video...
plz i need urgent help..... |

If the link won't show up, make sure it's embeddable, because youtube allows their uploaders to disallow embedding. This product needs something that tells people "this link is not embeddable" or something simillar. |

I have installed on vBulletin 3.8.2 site and am trying to convert the existing posts. When I run the test/verbose mode I get errors like this:
post 61132: Warning: include([path]/amecache/findonly.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/includes/ame_bbcode.php on line 74 Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '[path]/amecache/findonly.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in [path]/includes/ame_bbcode.php on line 74 I have confirmed that all the files were uploaded to the correct locations. Any other ideas why I would be seeing this? It appears to be a path problem but I don't see anywhere that I need to set the path. |
Can anybody confirm if veoh or dailymotion works? Everything I've tried works but those two. I know they changed their URLS a couple months ago. Please answer.

Warnings and such seemed excessive and overall more confusing to the user than the icon solution but less than a broken media embedded in your post. You can edit the AME templates to provide another indication to your users if you need to. I think thats all outstanding items, just a friendly reminder that I haven't come accross an issue with this mod where the answer isn't either located in this thread or the mods readme (hence the reason this mod needs little to no support and why it hanst needed to be updated for so long). If you are having problems, check the readme and the thread for your answers. If the problem is with an add on definition that doesnt come with AME by default, you will need to take the matter to them. nJoy all :) |
Umm, I was hoping my question would be open to "Anybody" responding. I wasn't asking for special priviliges.
I was communicating with Digital Jedi for sometime about switching from "a different similar" mod. I switched because I was told every site I need supported by this mod is supported. Veoh and Dailymotion obviously are not, hence the reason to implement stand alone BBCodes. It's a very nice mod, but if something like these two particular video sites aren't going to automatically embed when using the script. Why advertise them as such? Remove them from the list of unsupported AME mod sites. |

AME was designed so that other users could create, update and share definitions at their own whim without the need for the actual mod to change every time a media site was changed or added. Think of AME as a framework that comes with a couple of definitions that satisfy most users requirements right out of the box. For those it doesn't, you can easily create your own custom definitions, or upload someone else's. There are several contributors that have done this, DJ being a major one. In the end, I don't think its fair to criticise AME if you have a problem with a definition that was created by another user or if there isn't a definition out there that you need. If there isn't a solution out there, release one. If whats out there doesnt work as you need it to, make one that does. Just don't get upset if someone doesn't do it for you in a 12 hour time span. Or just use bbcode :D |
Thank you Geek. I will give that a try. I uninstalled the software last night because we were having post edit response issues. Once I removed it everything went back to normal. So there must be something going on with the file cache. I'll reinstall AME and turn that off. Thanks for your help and for this great mod!

No problem. If you are having edit response issues (i.e. its taking a long time to save a post with media in it) that could be because the extraction setting is on and the detination site is being unresponsive. Normally, the extraction method is pretty unnoticable, however in the event that you post a media link that has it on, it will try to download the destination page to extract information from it (i.e. the title, run check to see if embedding is allowed, etc...). If the destination server is taking its own sweet time and/or you have A LOT of media in a single post, well... you get the picture :)
You can always turn that feature off, though many other features and definitions may require it and in normal operation, it seldom causes a problem. |
One more quick question Geek. I have successfully installed a definition for my new fishing CMS site based on the Social Media script and have it embedding clips via AME correctly on my other website. But when I click on an embedded clip it takes me to the originating video site in the same window. I would like for it to open in a new window so that the viewer does not leave the website where the video clip is embedded. Obviously I need a target="_blank" code added somewhere but where do I add that to accomplish this? Thanks!
|
You should be able to add that to one of the AME templates. If not, then in the definition you made.
HTHs! [edit] After re-reading your post, I would think you would want to look at either the definition or the media that is being embeded. If its the media, AME won't be able to do anything about it as it just embeds. |
Hmmm.. I see that the new window code is already in the ame_output template (below) but it is not opening in a new page. I'll keep looking.

Again, my apolgies and I didn't critisize the AME, as I find it to be more superior than "the other one", plus you offer it for free. Hope you understand. |
I installed this mod on my new health forum and it works great.
|
Geek, I did a clean install on the site that was giving me trouble and it reinstalled beautifully and worked the first time. I don't know what the issue was before but all is good now. Now all I have to do is to figure out how to submit my custom definition for my new video site for others to use. THanks again for all your help and for this great software mod!
|
thanks!
i works perfect ;) |
This all of a sudden stopped working and I'm puzzled...
It keeps videos in old posts embedded, but new posts are not being embedded. Yes, I checked the ACP settings and ticked the "Automatically Embed" box when making a post. Any ideas? Edit: I realize that it works if I wrap the link in "[ame]" tags. How do I disable this requirement? |
