I've noticed that a bunch of my prior banned members are not being re-banned. Even with the same ip, they get right through.

The cookie detection is working, but what would cause the IP detection to cease?

Thank you

Jester

Alfa1 11-02-2010 12:03 AM

Do you use vboptimise?

haytham 11-02-2010 12:58 PM

It's not picking up anything and I am very sure I have members getting banned and re-registering but I am not getting any messages.

No I don't. It's catching the cookie people like crazy, but not IP matches.

Thank you!!!!

Hello Ireceive the following error upon registration

the_ace 11-16-2010 12:05 PM

installed and working fine on VB 4.0.8

Is there any way to check registrations already made before installing the mod for multiple accounts ?

Alan_SP 11-17-2010 06:30 PM

Yes, it reports multiple registrations, but also multiple logins i.e. what you're asking for. :)

dodoni 11-18-2010 10:44 AM

hello to everyone, here is the situation for me:
installed it in 4.0.8 and have no reports at all.
I read the whole thread here, i think i set it correctly.

So far, i know at least one member, that had 2 accounts before the installation of this mod. He logged in with both of them and posted in the same thread (after the installation of the mod).

Shouldnt i get a pm and a thread discussion in that situation? (i have enable them, both)

Alan_SP 11-21-2010 11:49 PM

You should use silent mode, if you want to get reports about multiple registrations and logins. Enable it in options

Alfa1 11-26-2010 11:28 PM

It would be awesome to see Evercookie implemented for banned members:
http://samy.pl/evercookie/
Evercookie is much harder to remove than normal cookies.

white demon 12-09-2010 01:57 AM

works with 4.1.0.???

I've got this done! :D

Alfa1 12-27-2010 04:15 PM

Could you post the code?

Diablo-Sat 12-29-2010 08:15 PM

thanks for this

Got evercookie integrated? Where is the code?

I don't intend on sharing the code with anyone, sorry mate.

Alan_SP 01-05-2011 01:16 AM

So, you wrote this just to rise your postcount?

You know, as we don't see the code, we can or not believe you. At the moment, I don't believe you. :)

JesterP 01-05-2011 06:09 PM

Ok, so nobody has integrated evercookie, a bummer to be sure.

Back to my original issue:

IP addresses are not being compared, the only way I am currently able to detect multiples is via cookie. IP detection worked perfectly for quite some time.

I believe my IP detection issues started when my webserver was converted to NGinx and the PHP-FPM/CGI. I could be wrong though.

Does anyone have similar experiences with this type of webserver? If I can confirm this issue with others, I will hire devs to figure the mess out. If that is not the issue, I guess I will remain at the mercy of banned members who figured out that all they need to do is clear cookies and re-reg.

Thanks for reading

Jester

AThomas 01-05-2011 06:16 PM

Happened to me once, did you try to re-install? worked after that for me.

I haven't, but I will be sure to. Did you remove it first or did you just do the product with overwrite enabled?

It works prfectly now, replaced all files and overwrote the product.

Thank you

The author of vB Optimise will not even work with me to fix it. Until they improve their coding, I'm not sure if I can do anything about these issues. As far as I know, administrators that do not use the above modifications will not have any problems.
That is a lie.

I just talked to the owners at DBTech and they stated they are willing to give their files to you to get it to work properly.

Maybe they did this earlier off, but right now they have their hands full and are letting you take care of it.

Just popping in to confirm that we are indeed happy to give access to the necessary files, and that the author of this mod has never been told otherwise by anyone at DBTech.

Further - as normal post reporting works perfectly fine with vBOptimise the issue must lie within a change to that process cause by this modification - it's not something vBOptimise has "broken".

Come on people. No matter where the issue lies, its clearly an issue that many people would happily see resolved. Both addons are extremely popular. Please try to work this coding issue out in the spirit of the community.

Working together and giving their files are two different things IMHO.

In any case I'd be grateful if someone can take a look at it and try to resolve the coding problem.

No one cares, unless you're here to share. It's not like anyone thought it was impossible to do, you're just thumbing your noses at people and boasting. Or, you're a complete liar and haven't done it.

Either way you're acting like a troll.

Xerosis 03-03-2011 10:55 PM

can you update please ? xD

jluerken 03-04-2011 02:54 PM

I want to know how I can change this
"Disallow Registrants, Except Banned Users" to an
"Allow multiple Registrants, Except Banned Users" function?

Sounds to me like there is no code to share and maybe this is made up, for whatever reason?

It's Damn Real! 03-28-2011 06:24 PM

I have this installed on vB 4.1.2 and the mod works except for the fact that it doesn't post reports to the forum ID I gave it to post new threads under (to notify me when AE is tripped).

The report shows up under the What's New tab (for everyone), but doesn't show up in that private forum.

Not only do I not want regular users seeing this, but I want it being displayed in that private thread so moderators and Admins can see only.

Any ideas?

Alan_SP 03-29-2011 01:59 AM

For me, putting it in silent mode did the trick. Did you set it up to use silent mode?

nhawk 04-15-2011 04:50 PM

I can confirm that this works properly with 4.1.3, including IP detection with no cookie present on the registrants system.

Kiros72 05-01-2011 10:23 PM

Okay guys... Umm... I know that a lot of you are a bit ticked off at me since I've been so inactive in the development of this modification and support for it, but I'm trying to get back on the horse now. I have resumed development of Multiple Account Detection & Prevention and I will be returning to this thread on a much more regular basis.

Please bear with me, though. I've got finals this week and I'll also be attending summer courses at my university.

Oh, and if I can get in touch with vBOptimize's author, believe me, I will make every effort to correct the code that is malfunctioning if it's within my territory. Chances are that it is, since vBOptimize's author is incredibly talented. At any rate, hold tight. We may see some changes coming within this month.

Thanks,
Kiros

I don't see anything that says this will work with 4.x.x which is what I am using. Will it work on 4.x.x?

Hmmm... I guess not..

Probably should not have been multi-tasking while doing some research:eek:

Trek 05-02-2011 11:35 PM

Excellent news on picking this up again, it's great, but could use an overhaul and a lot of the requested features.

Thanks for the work you've already done on it and the work you plan on putting into it!

Wonksta 05-03-2011 02:12 AM

Awesome news this Mod is fantastic! Works on 3.8.6 too!
