However, I tried the Image Resizer hack - see https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=1493771 - and this works fine

well... I'll give the resizer a try. thanks for the info.

as usual... keep up the incredible work. you have many a fan ;)

ps. that bug fix worked! thanks!! :D

Hi AndrewD

You probably don't remember me, but I have been a long time user of this mod and probably over a year ago now I asked you if it would be possible to make LDM automatically delete files that had been uploaded after a number of days from a category of my choosing. well since then I have fallen out of love with what my site is about and lost interest in it, but I have now got a renewed vigor for it all again and will be upgrading everything and hopefully move my site forward.

Anyway, that my little story, and obviously I am wondering if you did ever work out how to do it or is it something you would consider looking into again?

cheers
Ian

Hi, Ian, yes I remember.

I implemented a mechanism whereby entries in a category 'expire' after a certain number of days, e.g. 10 days. When they expire, they become hidden in that category (at least as far as most users are concerned), and they can optionally be moved to - and become visible in - a new category (which might have another expiry period).

I didn't implement a mechanism to 'autodelete' the expired files, but it is straightforward (I think) to provide a 'plug in' which will delete, e.g., all the expired entries in a given category. I will give this some thought and report back.

So if you really want to kill the files as well as expire then, you would set up LDM to expire entries after N days, then move them to a new category, and use this separate plugin to kill the files.

The expiry mechanism has another use also - when an expiry date is set for a category, then entries in that category only become visible to most users on their submission date. Since it is possible to post-date entries, you can set up categories in advance, knowing that entries will appear and disappear when required.

Final (I hope) release of version 2.2.9 released today. Works with vb 3.6 and 3.7

Main displays
*show_moderators_catbit* controls whether to display list of moderators in category header

Extras
Fixed *swfupload* extra to work with CSRF protection
Changed *Wimpy* file structure to reflect current directory conventions
Added *delete-expired* extra which auto-deletes entries sometime after expiry

Bug fixes
Fixed Hit recording for media files handled by url-based players
Fixed Player selection when handling local file with *local_file_root* enabled
Fixed Add/Remove Favourite
Continued work on using correct per-category settings/permissions when displaying entries 'out of context'

Ian Emu-UK 06-02-2008 02:51 PM

That is excellent.

I will be upgrading to the new VB at the weekend and will give this option a damn thorough test ;)

Thanks Andrew.

Is it possible to show a default icon for video's? A small camera or something alike?

airheadairbrush 06-03-2008 02:29 AM

I have to say Andrew has been great helping me with this.
His support goes way beyond what most folks would do.

Thanks Andrew

LDM selects an icon based on the filetype, e.g. if you have a file xxxxx.avi, then it looks for an icon called avi.gif or avi.png or avi.jpg in whichever directory you have set up as the LDM icons directory. So you can change this simply by replacing the existing filetype icon.

If you find a good one, let me know and I can add it to one of the standard icon sets - there are now three sets with the release.

pspcrazy 06-03-2008 09:31 AM

Thanks for the final version, upgrading now. I'm loving the flash upload bar a lot thanks!

nokidding 06-04-2008 12:19 AM

Is there anyway we could add a custom BBCode and put the linkID for example and it would add it to the thread or post?

On my own site, I use a simple bbcode definition

Code:

[link=NNN]Title[/link]
defined as

Code:

<a href="local_links.php?action=jump&id={option}" target="_new">{param}</a>
I also use

Code:

[linkcat=NNN]Title[/link]
defined as

Code:

<a href="local_links.php?catid={option}" target="_new">{param}</a>
to jump to a category

Thank you again for this work. I have a problem with the display of my entries. It shows me 5 per page instead of 10. On the first page, for example, I have the entrees 1 to 5 and on the second page 10 to 15 ...

I know it has not disappeared because I found using the search function. How can they be seen again?

Thank you for your help and sorry for my language.

itsblack 06-04-2008 12:36 PM

Hi Andrew, thank you for the update.
The new phrase in chinese is "在分类顶部显示版主列表".

obmob 06-04-2008 02:56 PM

Hmm.... I was trying to add a link to a torrent file, i have this on my forum filetypes... when i tried to save i got an error message that said something like this:

"Sorry - links to offsite downloads have been disabled. "

Where do i enable this? O.o

Thanks u.u

EDIT:

Hmm... I figured it out, is it better to try hosting all files instead of using direct links to the files in other sites?

Sorry to hear this. to debug these problems I need access to your site or a backup of the LDM database tables. Send me a PM and we can work out how to solve this problem.

There's a bug in the page builder when entries have different display orders. It was caused by a late change I made in the 2.2.9 code. I think the attached includes/local_links_include.php file will fix it. Please can you let me know.

Thanks ! it works very well now

AndrewD 06-04-2008 06:34 PM

04.06.08 Important - there's a bug in the version of includes/local_links_include.php in the zip file, which causes problems when you set up entries with different display_orders. I've uploaded a new version of this file into the head post of this thread and will combine the files into a new zip in a few days.

Britmovie 06-04-2008 08:56 PM

Britmovie 06-04-2008 09:27 PM

The .module files are installed using the vbulletin/admincp/vbadvanced pages. There's a section there labelled download/upload module.

As far as I can see, you haven't added any entries to your LDM yet (apart from the standard test links), so there is nothing for the tag cloud and filestrip extras to display.

For example, the tag cloud is built using the keywords you associate with your LDM entries - there are none so it doesn't bother showing anything.

I'm getting a lot of these errors now:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing or mismatched.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

Any idea? I do have mod_security installed on apache.

These errors are generated by the new CSRF security features in vbulletin 3.7 and 3.6.10. As far as I know, the new LDM release deals correctly with the security interface. I suggest you start by checking your templates - If you still have modified versions of old versions of templates installed, then it is possible that this is the cause of the problem.

Andrew have the early issues been fixed now and its' therefore safe to upgrade?

As far as I know, 2.2.9 is stable and reliable, provided you use the separate version of includes/local_links_include.php rather than the version in the zip file. There are no reported problems which have not been resolved. (Of course, having said that, there will no doubt now be a flurry of bug reports...)

tekguru 06-05-2008 12:11 PM

Cheers - I assume we need to make a note of which modules we have installed first so as to make sure that we reinstall the same ones?

Yes - installing a vbulletin product will delete any plugins associated with that product. For a different reason, you need to think about the vbadvanced modules (if you use them) - these need to be uninstalled and reinstalled.

There are several ways, which are explained in the on-line wiki, see http://www.eirma.org/wikis/index.php/Installing_LDM

Quickest and easiest with 2.2.9 is to go to ldm/admin/ldm plugins and mark as active the top two plugins

obmob 06-05-2008 03:16 PM

Hello Andrew... is there a vbadvanced module that shows random entries instead of newest? ^^,

Or, is it possible to use the current module and make it randomize the entries? o.o

BTW Almost done with translation ^^'

tekguru 06-05-2008 06:01 PM

Andrew you'll be pleased to know the upgrade went okay with no problems - yet (ducks quickly)...

Point your browser at your forum dir/local_links_admin.php

Select LDM plugins on the left hand menu

Take a look at the on-line wiki for the tutorial (see link in first post of this thread)
Enable the top two plugins

You will get direct access to LDM via your vb navbar
