we can help you on our site or here, but generally if you don't know how to ftp then there would be I would assume an account manager or admin that could help you where ever your forum is hosted.

bested 07-30-2007 09:19 PM

forum is powered by vbulletin.

Anyways, I recommend SmartFTP or AceFTP, those have been pretty good to me.
Back on topic: I installed on a test site and it runs perfectly. I have yet to get any errors, can't wait for the next update.

I did not set it up, I am an admin only, bested is the site owner...I am getting mods for him...my vbulletin Username name is Clarinet

GekkoPixie 07-30-2007 09:37 PM

Bested -

vBulletin doesn't host the site. That tag just means that they are using the vBulletin software for the forums. Hosting would be a monthly paid company that owns the server they are using space on. What you should do is contact an admin of that site, and ask them to take care of the issue.

If you are the one running the place, then you need to upload the unzipped files into your main (root) folder, which you can do using programs like WinSCP (my personal fave), or via the web if your host allows such a thing. If the place where your forum files is located is /forum, then that's where you would consider to be the 'root' folder.

Sounds like you might want to consider hiring or finding a coder or more knowledgeable person to help you do this stuff for you.

bested 07-31-2007 04:07 AM

I think bested has it with forumer...he does not have a coder.

Darkwaltz4 07-31-2007 05:25 AM

The third person perspective is kinda confusing :-p

Bested: who installed the version of vBCredits that you are using in the first place? They should be the ones to upgrade it for you.

2) If you do NOT have TMS installed, apply the 7 Template Edits listed below. Also, if you are missing some displays, follow the directions at the very bottom.
- Please note that when you upgrade vBulletin, you will need to perform these modifications again.
What is TMS? and also can you award say "5" credits to those for making a new "post" ?

As well I would like to have them be able to use their credits on something how do I do this?

Thanks.

Darkwaltz4 07-31-2007 09:04 AM

I linked to it in the main post. It is not required to install, just makes template editing automatic instead of manual. If you dont know what it is, you most likely dont have it installed, and you shouldnt bother installing it just for that :-p (just merely a little plus if you do)

Special Sneak Preview Demo

I have put up a little thing you guys can play with on my site, located in the user cp.
http://www.vbcredits.com/forum/customizer.php?do=usercp

Please note that it is NOT functional, nor does it contain (completely) real data :-p it is there as a teaser. Please post feedback in the announcement thread on my site, thanks.

cheat-master30 07-31-2007 01:04 PM

Okay, I have a new request for a mod to be integrated with this one, and that is the Interactive Profiles modification found here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=150028

The features which I have people on my own forum wanting include being able to buy and donate profile styles via points, maybe using the shop add on you are working on when it releases, and I guess the usual stuff like points for being on friends lists or for commenting on profiles?

An example of a profile style is here:

http://dsultimate.net/Board/upload/member.php?u=1 (which is the Castle Bleck one released in my article here).

Just a suggestion from myself and my own forum members for something to integrate. In future, I also guess gallery scripts would be good for integration, am I right?

NFLfbJunkie 07-31-2007 01:36 PM

How can I align the Recipient text box with the Comment & Amount text boxes?

Darkwaltz4 07-31-2007 01:37 PM

change valign to top. that is a style bug which is fixed in the next version. Also to get the Donate button on the same line you need to shrink the size of the amount input. Also fixed in next version.

NFLfbJunkie 07-31-2007 01:43 PM

Don't quite know how to do what you just said. Can you specify for me how and where to do this? When will the next version be out?

By the way, I took a look at the Special Sneak Preview Demo and what you're doing here is totally awesome.

Darkwaltz4 07-31-2007 01:45 PM

Find in the credits_manage template

HTML Code:

  <td width="20%" valign="bottom" nowrap="nowrap">
replace with

HTML Code:

  <td width="20%" valign="top" nowrap="nowrap">

NFLfbJunkie 07-31-2007 02:01 PM

Thanks for the fix. One other thing, after installing the "manage credits" link in mu user control panel went under my Project Tools. How can I put it under my "miscellaneous" links in my control panel?

NFLfbJunkie 07-31-2007 04:14 PM

How is the size of a donation amount controlled? For user groups that have this privilege, can they donate whatever amount they want? And is the amount deducted from the grantor's credits? I have tested donating credits to another user, but no credits were deducted?

Also, how would I set it where when sending a private message from the 'manage credits' page that the same window opens up and not a new window?

I gave 50 credits to a test user for their post and .05% was deducted based on the settings. The transaction report shows that 48 credits was issued, but the testuser ended up getting the entire 50 credits.

PixelFx 07-31-2007 06:39 PM

You can change how much credits are worth in bulk or single amounts at the buttom of the vBCredits Global Settings, in the admincp - vbulletin options area.

Example: $1 = 1000 credits, and also select the currency .. example if your using paypal .. CAN US DE etc, we have more info on that page for the exact way to set it up.

You can also define for example that if someone wants 0 999 credits for day .10 cents a credit, and then say between 1000 to 2500 credits, that a user donates for could be 0.08 cents, for buying more.. the script is really flexable.

so for your question above you prob just got the script installed but haven't changed our default settings yet in that side of the hack.

I hope that helps a bit. If its bug, and your still having issues, we have a bug tracker setup on www.vbcredits.com to report any issues, and we'll get them fixed asap. :D

NFLfbJunkie 07-31-2007 06:47 PM

But what controls the amount that one gives or takes a way for a post? Can any amount be added/deducted?

I don't have an option in my global settings to set a currency type. I have the non-$$$ version installed.

Darkwaltz4 07-31-2007 06:57 PM

Junkie: ignore Pixel >.<

If you used the gold coin icon in the postbit or used the award link in the profile -- you were actually giving them a bonus out of thin air.

To actually donate you do so from the manage credits screen by filling out the little form. THAT comes out of your credit count.

Quote:

I gave 50 credits to a test user for their post and .05% was deducted based on the settings. The transaction report shows that 48 credits was issued, but the testuser ended up getting the entire 50 credits.
You were looking at his transaction log, not yours. When you click the credits link on a postbit and you have usergroup perms to do so (admins usually do) then you also see that person's transaction log. And if you just donated to them, youll see it the way THEY do. Click the link in the usercp to switch to your own view, and youll see it properly. Also, it will say "Now viewing XXX's credits" when looking at someone else's log.

As the for the popup -- thats vb doing that. vbcredits just sends a PM and vb does what it does. You can disable the alerts by setting 0 to the PM sender option in the global settings.

NFLfbJunkie 07-31-2007 07:08 PM

Okay, I am a little confused still. Even if the transaction logs show a different amount, shouldn't the user I gave points to receive the amount minus the tax and not the whole amount?

Darkwaltz4 07-31-2007 07:11 PM

Your transaction log shows how much you spent for donating, theirs will show how much they actually got (tax deducted) :)

NFLfbJunkie 07-31-2007 07:14 PM

So how much I spent for donating doesn't really mean anything if it's not being deducted from my credits, right? If so, it seems kind of pointless donating or taking away from users for their posts. Users could definitely abuse this if they wanted to.

Darkwaltz4 07-31-2007 07:24 PM

>.< No, there are two different systems

1) post / profile awards, through the little popup ajax menu on posts -- this is essentially admin gift

2) donations, through the manage credits screen -- this comes out of your credits

If you still dont understand, please talk to me on IM and i will walk you through the features :)

NFLfbJunkie 07-31-2007 07:31 PM

I am understanding this a little better. The only thing that doesn't make sense is why does a post/profile award get taxed and show as such in the transaction log when this doesn't really affect anything.

Darkwaltz4 07-31-2007 07:46 PM

It is the opposite - donations get taxed...

NFLfbJunkie 07-31-2007 07:52 PM

Right. But when giving 50 credits to a user for their post, the transaction log shows the 50 credits that they received and the 48 credits that I gave, after the tax. So what's the purpose of knowing that what I gave (50) to a user for a post that actually for me was just giving 48 credits. I apologize if I am making something over nothing.

raiderlax 07-31-2007 08:13 PM

and also can you award say "5" credits to those for making a new "post" ?

Thanks.j

Darkwaltz4 07-31-2007 08:34 PM

Hmm, might be an error in the display, but should not be deducted from what the user got. All i know is im positive theres no deduction from postbit awards.

Edit posting award levels in the usergroup editor

Also, to see what to spend credits on, see the addon section for info on using it with other hacks, and I am working on some shop addon things :) see the preview in the top post.

raiderlax 07-31-2007 09:12 PM

The version you have here for download is 1.3 isn't 1.4 the newest version?

Darkwaltz4 07-31-2007 09:25 PM

1.4 is in development and will be released here when it is stable :) one of the perks of being a member on my site :D

I am a member already :) You couldn't possibly help me with a little thing I am trying to do on my site, not anything to do with this mod? do you do that? if I asked on your site?

jasculs 07-31-2007 11:03 PM

for vbCommerce,

I know you planning in using this for actual real purchases of things also, can you make it so members and purchase paid subscriptions for other members. Like buying a member a paid subscription as a gift.

ChU v2 08-01-2007 03:16 AM

Is there an admin donate option?

DiarrHeaZORRR 08-01-2007 03:26 AM

is there a way to give points to a user?

like just to give points to someone for no aparrent reason AKA Point giving via admincp

if not can you include that option in an update?

Me, I am confused though...Bested is the Site Owner, I am one of his admins. He told me to get some mods...If I get a coder, and delete all the mods I put in...can they re install them?

Yes, the post / profile award system. Set the usergroup perms, and look for the coin icon on posts, or click the award link in the profiles.

Also, I would like to thank everyone here who has nominated us for hack of the month :) We are now on the poll for august. Be sure to vote :D !

Dont worry, in a week or less you will have something else to nominate :D

jasculs 08-01-2007 05:02 AM

Hey Darkwaltz4,

Any thoughts on what I posted earlier?
