Anyone know how i get it to stop doing that loading sign thing on my site? its really anonying

sirjtaa 09-16-2007 11:35 AM

Great mod! I'm using it for my forums right now, I would love to see a pop-out feature (or is it already there and I'm just not noticing it?)

manofphat 09-16-2007 01:24 PM

I got it working in vBAdvanced. You need to include adv_index

manofphat 09-17-2007 01:53 AM

Does anyone know how I would go about setting up something like maxlength so members couldn't type huge messages?

GrendelKhan{TSU 09-17-2007 05:40 AM

got the pro version and couple questions/comments:

Could you provide some instructions how you did that? Would be great!

Regarding the max length, it would require a template edit. I think I saw something similar in the base template... I would have to check on that though

manofphat 09-17-2007 09:41 AM

For vBAdcaned, all you need to do is add:
Code:

adv_index
In the Page Deployment section for the mod properties ;)

m002.p 09-17-2007 10:10 AM

Yes i entered that into the page deployment area, but still nothing. Do you create a template module & enter:

Quote:

<!--{%SHOUTBOX%}-->
Or what else? I recall I tried it and all I got was "loading". Could be wrong though.

Thanks

manofphat 09-17-2007 10:16 AM

Yeah you had to create a new template and make it into a vBA module and activate it on your pages. If that didn't work try adding index or your vBA page name/URL into the Page Deployment box. Sorry, I'm bad at writing documentation.

m002.p 09-17-2007 10:22 AM

Nope doesnt work :(

In the page deployment I have:
Quote:

index,
adv_index,
Have you a link to yours working? Mine displays ok, but doesnt load lol ;)

Thanks anyway

Nick2112 09-17-2007 11:35 AM

Is someone gunna help me with my issue??

tipoboy 09-17-2007 03:11 PM

i dont have this showing as a module, but it is on my vbadvanced page i did it by adding the <!--{%SHOUTBOX%}--> to my adv_portal template

Code:

find:
$home[centerblocks]

add below:

<!--{%SHOUTBOX%}-->

It works for me, and remember to add adv_index to your deployment area!!

esck 09-17-2007 06:05 PM

great tip tipoboy, it does shows on my home, but it keeps "loading"

m002.p 09-17-2007 06:07 PM

yea same here...

tipoboy 09-17-2007 09:27 PM

as i said thats how i got it working on mine, i have the editor position set to above messages see if that helps(stab in the dark)

try importing the product over again allowing an over write see if that helps

manofphat 09-17-2007 09:51 PM

I also have mine set to above.
Something else I did though was I included the full template name (adv_portal_xxxxx), I included my page name (index.php would be index) and I included the adv_index.

Yep its weird trying to get this on vBa, I could swear my settings are the same as yours but all i get is "loading" ;)

& Trying to get hold of the author (Zero Tolerance) is about as easy as trying to get hold of Father Xmas on Christmas Eve :D

C2Systems 09-18-2007 02:10 AM

so I can upgrade to this from vbshout 2.1? ... sweeeeet

Skavenger 09-20-2007 02:06 AM

The problem with vbadvanced is that if you don't have the vba index in the forum folder, the shoutbox does not load, but if you have both index in the same folder, the shoutbox loads without problem

Does anybody knows how to fix this?

GrendelKhan{TSU 09-20-2007 03:01 AM

anyone got a fix for that annoying REFRESHING to the middle of the content thing?

its driving me mad.

I tried what you suggested by renaming the VBA index to the default of cmps_index.php then placing in the forum folder along with the forum index.php.

I corrected the full URL to VbA in vbCMPS Options in Admin CP.

Still Loading....

Both adv_index & index were included in the page deployment areas. Im not sure why it still doesnt work :s

Masiello 09-20-2007 05:21 PM

I love this mod! Please, keep it up for the next vBulletin releases :)

Cigarcritic 09-25-2007 08:15 PM

I'm disappointed after upgrading to Pro only to find out that the smilies cannot be controlled.

1. I do not want the smilies random. I have ~80 smilies and it's a real pain to locate the one I want.

2. I only want certain smilies to appear. I DO NOT want Over-sized smileys to be available to my members in the shout box.

What's the point of having a smiley button if I can't control them? We can just go back to the Lite version and type the shortcut.

Anyway.....just an FYI to those upgrading for the smilie feature.

There is no support for the PRO version either. Numerous threads are unanswered and the problem as not been addressed with the similes and IE throwing the shoutbox window outside the viewing area.

BUYER BEWARE !!!!

I guess Zero is packed with work... don't they have like 4 hacks they support now?

PoetJA-1975 09-26-2007 08:48 AM

LOL @ all you complainers....
There's really nothing wrong with Inferno Shoutbox - It works as promised really AND the light version is FREE ---- AND IF YOU CAN'T READ - It's marked as https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2011/01/24.gif Not Supported.....

On the PRO version - the only thing I see is that people (myself included of course) wants a whole slew of new features... And edits to the current application - which I happen to think is FABULOUS!

For instance - those of you complaining about the "annoying" reload graphic that reloads every so often - It's not a bug - but part of the original design I suppose - What you want is a fix for something that isn't broken :)

Anyway - my suggestion (as I'm a fan of Inferno Technology modifications) is to TRY ANOTHER SHOUTBOX - there are a couple options already on vB.org - you may want to try those and stop all the bellyaching :D

JAcquii.

Inferno Tech 09-26-2007 09:49 AM

Just a thanks to those people who understand the situation - we ARE a small company, and it IS difficult for us to support a lot of hacks at once - there was someone helping us out, but he is not able to access the internet (and hasn't been for a few months)

The threads referred to as beign unanswered ARENT about problems with the software, but about people requesting NEW features or for us to write the mcode to do things the software wasn't designed to do.

I can assure you all that there isn't one person who has had a problem getting the pro shoutbox to work that has come to the forums and not received help.

Unfortunately due to time constraints we CAN'T add everything people request immediately - unfortunately some people see it as their right once they pay for a product such as this to DEMAND that we tailor it to their individual needs, and it's just not reasonable.

Please remember this simple request - if you wouldnt expect it from something you bought from a store - don't expect it from us.

If you buy any piece of software, then call the developer demanding to know how to make it do something that *it can't do* without editing or adding code - theres no way they would do it. Thats a huge company, how can you accept that from them, and not a company with much more limited resources?

We do the best we can, we update our products as often as possible, any bugs are fixed ASAP, and we note down peoples suggestions for future versions.

To those with a problem, you can also post your opinions in the testimonials part of our forum - anyone unsure whether to buy can read those as well. Any product will have its supporters and detractors. We're fortunate enough that out of our hundreds of customers, lots of them have left positive testimonials, while there are remarkably few negative ones.

If anyone has any questions, or comments on this you can feel free to catch me on the support forums, or email me/drop me an MSN message, so this thread doesn't drift any further.

;) Have a good day,

Iain

BUYER BEWARE !!!!

Are you for real?

After trying the demo you went onto the Inferno website, checked the feature list and bought the item to then complain that you're smileys are too big for users in the shoutbox?

If you don't want users to have large smileys then don't have them on your board! You say theres no point in having a smiley button if you can't control them, last time I checked theres an option to turn it off.

Also, there is an option to limit the number of smileys shown, if there are too many in the box and its throwing the shoutbox window out the viewing area, common sense tells you to limit the number of smileys that appear, until a fix is made.

Eitherway there might be a bug, do you honest think you are going about this the right way? Normal people use the support forums to suggest that in the next version some more smiley control would be nice, and also there is a problem where smileys are throwing the shoutbox window out the viewing area. Do you honestly think going onto the vBulletin forums flaming the product and shouting to buyers beware is going to get you anywhere?

The pro version of this product is supported and threads aren't ignored, I have seen them all, nobody doesn't receive help and the only threads not answered by staff are feature request threads, which aren't ignored either. I don't see a post in your name saying there is a bug and if you went about this the right way I'm sure it could have been resolved by now.

Best thing to do is post in their support forums and request it. Zero has said he will be updating the shoutbox in early October, which is right around the corner. :)

esck 09-26-2007 10:14 PM

vbshout is giving me a lot of database errors and sometimes that crashes my server :S

uninstalled

StuntFactoryX 09-26-2007 10:29 PM

i use the pro version now and i had issues w/ a style that i purchased. totaly nothing to do w/ shoutbox. i started a thread and recieved a response requesting admin access to my site so he could resolve isssues with in a few hours. impressed w/ support and willingness to help me w/ somthing that the designer blew me off.

i have used all versions of shoutbox and they work as promised. some just have more/less features. 2 thumbs up to all versions... pro or lite :)

txspaderz 10-05-2007 01:22 AM

How about the problem of getting this to work with Vbadvanced? That's been asked since Day 1!!!

m002.p 10-05-2007 06:37 PM

Good luck on hearing a simple solution to that one ^ ;) Ive tried alot and found the problems, but unable to rectify. Someone out there must have cracked it :)

What is your forum homepage? I'd like to see what you mean by the smilie control issue.

Also, does anyone know when the new Inferno Shout Pro comes out. I am holding off buying the current version because I heard it comes out sometime in October (and we are in October presently).

Yup thats right, and it doesnt take a genious to identify that one ;)

We are asking because there is no instructions how to get it working as a module when your vba installation isnt in the same folder as the forum. I had Pro from the beginning :)

Maybe there is a hyper version what does that then? :p lol

PoetJA-1975 10-09-2007 09:18 PM

hmmmm - never thought of the hyper version
Possibly the next pro upgrade version lol
