I just wish I understood the code more, but I've looked at it and I swear I see no reason any update or other mod should interfere with this. Makes no sense. edit: Okay, I just checked 3 browsers - IE6, Opera, and Firefox. None triggered an alarm. |
we just upgraded to 3.7.2 and we had several people having some other issues. With their permission I reset their password and logged in as them with FF. As I continued with other people, I got AE messages for each one. It's funny to trip them as staff didn't get how it could happen because they didn't know I was working on issues for people.
test it with regular accounts, not staff accounts. It works on all browsers as I've tested all 3 IE6, Opera, Firefox with no misses. |
As in your case, one of the accounts I'm testing it with is a regular user account. I mean, both are my accounts, but one is the regular user I use to test things.
|
that's my point, you can't use ONE regular account and ONE staff. Log on with TWO regular accounts.
It will NOT trigger any AE for a moderator, supermoderator or admin account at all. I know this because we had a moderator abuse his position and we did not know all the alter egos he had created until we made him a regular user. |
Okay, I just created a new user and logged in and out as him and my regular user. Nothing. I also tried turning off my shoutbox, as I read in another thread tonight a shoutbox was turning off some other mod.
I just realized I'm posting to the wrong thread, as the author has started a 3.7 thread here. I'll be trying to carry on there. |
I will jump on the band wagon here to. This was working until I upgraded to 3.7.0. No it has not worked sense.
|
on line 71 of product-ae_detection.xml, it says something like:
Code:
$subject = $vbulletin->userinfo['username'] . " tripped the AE detector"; Code:
$subject = $vbulletin->userinfo['username'] . , $andids " tripped the AE detector"; what happened instead... my admin panel site is not working anymore. :( how do i fix it please? I can' t login into my admin panel to undo my mistakes. its says: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ',' in /home/fas/public_html/forum/includes/functions_login.php(185) : eval()'d code on line 56 Unable to add cookies, header already sent. File: /home/fas/public_html/forum/includes/functions_login.php(185) : eval()'d code Line: 56 Thanks so much for your help. |

Just go to the config file and add the code that disables plugins (can't remember it off the top of my head, just search for it here and on vb's site), and then you'll be able to login to the AdminCP again. From there, revert the code, undo the change to the config file, and you're back in business. |

Anyway, going back to my objective, is there a way we could make it? Show the tripped members in the SUBJECT line of each reported post/thread? Thanks! :) |
I got this working again after reading this post in the 3.5 version of this hack https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=109.
|
i don't know reason but it's waxing and wanning.
initially it worked fine for few days then not..again now working perfactly.. |
Yeah, I am not sure if what I did was really a fix or if it actually just started working on it's own again. I am just glad it is working again.

Thanks! Installed today, tested and works like a charm :) (3.6.8)

I've just discovered something pretty disturbing with this after using it for many months. It gave me one heck of a fright until I figured out this script was the cause. And that there was no threat to my board, just this script misrepresenting it.
Quite simply the posting IP of the report thread is set to the IP of the *Multiaccounter*. So when doing an IP check on a months long poster now turned spammer my LOGIN NAME came up under his IP. Leaving me to think he'd hacked my Admin account. Thanks for the heart-attack and panic. I verified this by previous multiaccounters. IN NO WAY should a reporting post added under your username be assigned THEIR IP. It is extremely confusing and misleading and really messes up the IP check feature. I really think this should be corrected. |
There's a fix for this posted in the last page or two of the 3.7 thread. Basically changes the IP to 0.0.0.0.
|
Thanks Videx. Glad I wasn't the only one worried by it and that it's fixed.
|
Actually, no, it hasn't been fixed I don't think. It's just that if you know to look back in the 3.7 thread you'll see a fix for it. But AFAIK the author has not yet included the fix in the download files.
|
Ah yeah, you're right. But the fix seems simple and makes sense. I'm happy to use it. So thanks for the headsup, and hopefully we can save some others the unneccesary panic of thinking a multiaccounter has hacked their Admin account.
For those who want it, it's here, and is. Quote:

The hack works with version 3.7.4? Should we make any changes so that it works smoothly?
|
Works great on 3.7.4!
Many thanks! :) |
It doesn't work on google chrome browser.
Installed. Thanks |

In otherwords, you're requesting that these mod creators add the <versioncheckurl> to their mods, gotcha. You may want to specify that in the other threads so as to avoid confustion.

Guys,
I have had this plug-in installed onto my forum, can anyone tell me how I access the results or will I recieve a message in some way. Also, will this work only on new member registrations or with my existing users? Many thanks |
In the Options you tell it what you want it to do - send PMs to specified people or post. At first, PMs will do. If the forum gets busy, posting will be easier to keep track of.
It monitors all users that log in, new or not. |
Thanks for your help Videx.
My forum host installed this plug-in for me 36hrs ago and as yet I havent recieved a report via PM. I have over 3000 members and I know for sure many of them have multiple logins. I am trying to establish if either 1. The plug-in isnt working or 2. I have the settings incorrect, my settings are currently No 0 Yes 1 Administrator 1 5,6,7 These were the settings I found, I have not changed anything. |
I have never in my life heard of "forum host's" installing mods for someone (please elaborate). One of the reasons being, it's the forum admin that's going to have to figure out how to use the darn thing. Which often means reading back through hundreds of posts.
One of the things you'll find as you read through this mod is that for many of us it inexplicably actually doesn't work. Heck, just read through my own posts and you'll see that. But I should say it's working for me now. Also in one (or more) of my earlier posts I talk about how to test it. It's tricky. |
The company that hosts my forum also does the behind the scenes stuff for example installing plug-ins. I am the Admin (they just access via my account) when they need to do work.
Considering the plug-in has been live for over 72hrs now without any notifications I have to assume its not working or the settings are wrong. When I log in as Admin there are no reports on the PM system. I have limited skills on a keyboard myself and was hoping to save asking my host to look at it as it usually costs ???? :o |
I also have it installed and I set it up best to what I thought was right but again knowing and testing with members logging in with more than one nic on the same ip but nothing has came to me via PM or the forum I set it to post a Thread in.
Anyone else had this problem, care to share and help out others? |
Seems like its not working with Firefox 3.5+
Any ideas why? thanks |
