Since yahoo! now uses google sitemaps, will there be an update to this since urllist.txt is no longer necessary?
http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/...plorer&fid=886 I did mine by hand. Thanks |
ok i have installed this on my forum and everything is going well... ive submitted the following sitemap urls into yahoo.
/forum/sitemap_1.xml.gz new - - /forum/sitemap_2.xml.gz new - - /forum/sitemap_3.xml.gz new - - /forum/sitemap_4.xml.gz new - - /forum/sitemap_5.xml.gz new - - /forum/sitemap_6.xml.gz new - - /forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz But i tried submitting www.mydomain.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz into google but google does not recognise the .gz they only want me to submit something with "sitemap.xml" like so....., so what feed can i submit to google? Thanks |
noppid ,
yes, we will implement xml sitemap ping for Yahoo in the next build of vBSEO sitemap generator. CP,, Google supports gzip compression for sitemaps, what exactly is the error you get? |
CP,
It could be that the error is really because you are submitting /forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz, when it is supposed to be www.domain.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz (has to be at he top level - the .htaccess file makes the file appear to be in root.) |
This is not working for me on 3.6.4, I followed all previous post for 3.6.4....will this be made for 3.6.4 or should the version work?

i kept getting a 404 error when trying to submit it to google, after having moved it to my top level domain.
I had to remove the line from my htaccess file in order for it to stop giving me the 404 error. Once i removed that line it worked fine. could someone explain to me what that line was since i know nothing of htaccess files and regex. |
Please read my post 2 above yours.. it is explained there. :)

i have installed this on my site but the only place i am seeing .gz files are at
forums/vbseo_sitemap/data/sitemap.txt.gz forums/vbseo_sitemap/data/sitemap_1.xml.gz forums/vbseo_sitemap/data/sitemap_index.xml.gz why is this ? this should be unusual right ?? how do i get this into www.domain.com/ or www.domain.com/forums/ i have my .htaccess in www.domain.com/forums/ |
