Bummer.

If you don't tell me what's wrong, I can't tell you what to do. ;) And please click install if you're using the modification.

Wherever the instructions tell you to put something in the template, if you want it to work outside vBulletin you must use the GLOBALS version but I still can't guarantee it will work.

i.e. $header_advertisement becomes $GLOBALS['header_advertisement']
i.e. $postbit_advertisement becomes $GLOBALS['postbit_advertisement']

etc.

Custom advertisements in postbit would be more tricky...unless you want ads to appear it two separate locations within one post it should not be necessary to have a custom postbit adcode section. What exactly do you want to do?

installed but none of the ads are displaying

Is there any way a modification of this type can be made?

I wouldn' t do anything very specific, but if you have a general feature request you can make one along those lines.

RedTyger, why is adding a custom advertisement block for the postbit display tricky?

Can it be done easily?

Yes it can, just not as easily as a global one. You're on your own with custom stuff I'm afraid.

Currently, no. Next version, almost certainly. But it will still be a long list of conditionals, there's really no other way to do it.

Do you have an estimated release date in mind? I'm trying to decide if we should go ahead and put ad code in the header template or if we should just wait until it's available through this plugin.

Thanks again for the plugin and the support!

Hello,

On our 3.6.7 system, I have this add-on installed and displaying ads (Google) in the header, footer and via $postbit_advertisement.

Although enabled with the very same ad, I cannot get the $forumbit_advertisement or $threadbit_advertisement to render an ad display.

In forumhome_forumbit_level2_post and forumhome_forumbit_level2_post

I have the code inserted per directions and as follows:

</tbody>
<if condition="$childforumbits">
<tbody>
$childforumbits
</tbody>
</if>

$forumbit_advertisement

In threadbit

I have the code insterted per directions and as follows:

<if condition="$show['inlinemod']">
<td class="alt1">
<input type="checkbox" name="tlist[$thread[realthreadid]]" id="tlist_$thread[realthreadid]" value="$thread[checkbox_value]" <if condition="$show['disabled']">disabled="disabled"</if> />
</td>
</if>
</tr>

$threadbit_advertisement

Out site is at http://www.baja.net

Any and all help is appreciated.

Well you'll be using the same conditionals either way, so if you want to transfer it back out of the template and back into modification when it's released with a cut and paste.

I am not good with deadlines, I'll say nothing. :)

I'm not sure what to say, you've done it correctly. I can only unhelpfully assume it's your settings somewhere. :confused:

By the way, what is everyone using the vB.Sponsors modification to do? I've seen it installed with vB Ad Management loads of times but it doesn't seem to do anything except click-tracking that this one doesn't.

Hmm.. What "settings" could cause this to not operate?

RedTyger 08-03-2007 08:20 AM

Usergroups settings, Forums settings, all the forumbit and threadbit settings. Not a lot, really. I haven't heard of any problems with forumbit/threadbit advertisements so I don't know what else it could be.

I have had some problems, and I am the first to admit, it may have to do with the pressures of building a portfolio :-) Anyway, when I uploaded the product in VB 3.6.7, There was an error alert that popped up and said there was a database error. However I cannot find any error written to log.
Also, it may have had to do with working at 4:00am, but i went through and added the appropriate tags and then I went and made the file modifications that are listed. I went to bed and wouldn't you know, when I woke up (10:00 am or later) the site was down and there was a php error message that there was a syntax error in includes/admanager.php! I dumped the file and it came back up :-) Please advise? If i go through and dot my i's and cross my t's will I be OK? Thanks so much. Dayton

RedTyger 08-03-2007 02:04 PM

Ah. includes/admanager.php is a not a vB Ad Management file, the problem lies with something else.

Don't forget to click install. :)

EvilKitty 08-04-2007 02:52 AM

Its pretty easy to see what my problem is here, unfortunately i have no concept of how to go about fixing this.

Suggestions?

I'm sure this has come up - but looking through 90 pages would be rough.
