I have tried again all mentioned and it still wont work wondered if it was anything to do with the skin i was using that wouldnt allow it, i am using https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=216445 for my site! If i can not get it to show on all pages for this skin i may have to look for a different chat box or consider purchasing the BF version even tho that should really be stated in the write up that it will only display on the main forum page unless you purchase the other version, that way people wouldnt try so hard to get something to work when its not going to! :) |

I have tried all thats been said in here and nothing seems to work for me :( |
The same way they have explained. I would suggest you make a screen shot of your settings and post it here for people to see.

But I'll try to get on it this week. Quote:

If that is not in 2.3.2 it might be because of a bug which has been corrected in 2.4.0 version. The 2.4.0 version has only been provided to the BF owners for the moment and I am waiting for it to be bug free before releasing the non BF version here so don't worry it's not something to force people to buy :) |
Thanks bro. WEWT!

VBDev.. Possible that your chatbox can have its own word replacement feature? All words being filtered on the forums also effects the chat box. How ever, the Replacement Variable Manager doesn't work on the chat box. Would be great if we can replace our own words on the chat box, rather than it being filtered to a single word all the time.

p.s. There was some old MOD that is not working anymore. |
There is a vbadvanced module you can import that will work.

Why are some of my phrases still in french... I tried the instruction twice. Some of it is in english but the admin cp options are in french and in the fourm, when my pointer hovers over the image it shows a french phrase.... Really confusing..
edit also i am missing the buttons on the left side of the chat box. In addition is their a tutorial for this. Also where does it tell how to make channels. I might be becasue i am missing some buttons. Also user note.. I changed the directory of adminCP so i manually uploaded files to correct folder. Would this affect my install at all. Thanks.. ___________________ When in doubt reinstall.. pretty catchy... that fixed all my problems |
VBDev - Any plan to make a CDP Plugin for your chat client to integrate with VBxperience? Perhaps points for each chat? Theres detailed instructions on writing the plugins included with Vbex but I'm not so much a php developer.
Thx. |

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out where to stick the the "$mgc_cb_evo_postbit" in the postbit and postbit legacy with any result that shows up. Can I please get a code example from anyone where you have this line at?
|
Cannot sign up to your payed website as it states "Registration denied. We check new registrations against a database of known forum spammers. At this time, we are unable to contact this database to verify your registration. We are sorry for the inconvenience but please do try again later." Was willing to pay for your code but stupid things like this just deny legitimate users.

Unavailable in Ibproarcade 2.6.8+
vbulletin 3.8.4 I search an answer in the 362 pages, nothing. I reinstall everything, nothing I read the readme many times, nothing. It work on vba and every place i put the variable, but not in the arcade. |
hi, i would like to put the chatbox below navbar at my vbadvanced CMPS, without module. is there anyway to put it there?
i'd try using Display on defined pages of the forum under the navbar > yes and List of the other forum pages > adv_index but it wouldn't show the chatbox under the navbar. I also try to put "$mgc_cb_evo<br />" below the navbar at vbaCMPS template but it won't show either. i had use the module type but i prefer more wider chatbox below navbar. Anyone can help? Thanks. edited... solved by adding more blocks at vbadvanced cmps. I add top block ($home[topblocks]) below navbar, and put the module at top column (column added) |
We have MGC Chatbox Evo created by MGC, Version 2.3.2 installed on a vBulletin 3.8.4
Chat seems to be working well for most posters but locks up for a few so far. One reported this error. Quote:

Hey I have a question/problem. I have a friend that is in Iraq right now, and we have been using the Chat Box on my site to chat back and forth, unfortunatly because of network restrictions he is having to "refresh" the page several times over to see messages (NOTE: This is the only time this has ever happened). Is there anyway to fix this problem, to where he dosen't have to refresh all the time.
|
I really liked this mod, but as i cant get it to show in the arcade no matter what i do, and all settings are correct, and double checked i have had to uninstall this and loaded a different chatbox onto my site!
Marked as uninstalled! :( |
Hi All,
Could someone please help me. I'm new to this and not sure what to now. I was trying to install the MGC Chatbox Evo 2.3.2 and right after I did step 4 my forum went down. I cannot even get into the Admin CP area, although it gives me the admin login page, but after I put password and ID I get page cannot be displayed. Stupidly enough I did not backup my files. What should I do now? These are the instructions I was following Follow the following install instructions: 1. Upload the content of the Files folder in your forum root. 2. Upload the content of the Images in each of your forum styles directories. 3. Log into the admin control panel of your forum and import the product located in the Product folder. 4. Go in the Download/Upload item of the Language manager menu and then: 1. Select the English language file from the Lang folder. 2. Select the forum language to overwrite. 3. Set the Ignore language version option to YES. 4. Launch the upload. 5. Edit the posbit and postbit_legacy templates and add: $mgc_cb_evo_postbit where you want the number of chats of the users to appear in their posts on the forum (if you activate the option). 6. Installation is finished, you just have to set the permissions of your usergroups so that they can see the chatbox, configure the chatbox settings, manage the available commands and if necessary add channels. Thanks a million in advance |
Second part of the changelog :
|
To all of you : 2.4.1 released !
This version shall fix some of the lately reported issue so I won't answer you unless you still experience it. If this is the case please report to me. |
Thanks for the update! I've upgraded and everything seems to be working fine, except when I click the [More...] link for the rest of the smilies, none of the smilies load for some reason.
|
As I mentioned to you through private message, I have a "loading..." issue.. Which either disappears when typing something in the chat box which re-appears when refreshing the page. Another way to "temp" solve this is by pressing the "refresh" button if there is any.. But still.. The "loading.." appears after I refreshed the whole page.. and I just did a whole new re-install! Still the problem is here.
EDIT: Possible template issue. EDIT 2: VBDev? I can no longer find the plugin template "Chatbox display on forumhome" How come? |
VBDev, it seems the "loading..." issue only appears in my first (default) custom template, and works on others. I already tried reverting the second template to the first one (a duplicate copy) but that doesn't seem to work either. I can't figure this out, any help please?
EDIT 3: It seems this effects ALL templates! The only way it seems to "fix" this issue is add a automatic refresh rate for each usergroup, but it has to do this every time the chat box is loading / refreshing page.... but this still doesn't work as it should on my first template.. I'm forced to uninstall this as it doesn't work properly! :( EDIT 4: It seems "MGC Chatbox Evo created by MGC, Version 2.4.1, Copyright 2009 all rights reserved" at the bottom is being added on all the templates, except for the first one. I'm not very confused.. What's going on? |
Nice update. Thanks!
I think I found a bug... Using the new /pm command: Activate the private chats in tabs feature, the option of clicking on a username to open a private chat tab doesn't seem to work for usernames with apostrophes in them. |
To everyone who uses this plugin and has the "always loading" issues....
Seach both javascript functions found in /clientscript/mgc_cb_evo.. mgc_cb_evo_functions.js and mgc_cb_evo_static.js Find the following: mgc_cb_evo_jsloc+"mgc_cb_evo_ajax.php" Replace with: "http://yourwebsite.com/mgc_cb_evo_ajax.php" For me the mgc_cb_evo_jsloc varible has never worked on any of the versions. There are multiple occurances of these, so do a find and replace. You may need to adjust the http:// reference if you have your forum in a subdirectory. All this edit does is remove the "guess work" of the jsloc varible and force the correct location. |
You can very easily add this to VB Advanced by:
Create a template module and place the following in the template: <div> $mgc_cb_evo_var </div> Also make sure you add: mgc_cb_evo mgc_cb_evo_var Portal Output Global Variables in Default Settings. |
Also to those who use VB Optimizer... You may need to switch your avatar storage mechanism to database rather than flat file. I had problems with some avatars displaying next to the chats.

PS: With your changes when I wanted to add something in the chat box, I received: Quote:
|
Edit the template - mgc_cb_evo_smilies:
Drop the <html id="mooo".... line Drop the $headinclude line I added my css file manually. If I knew the proper way to call the css I would post it. |

What I can say, if you want to troubleshoot a bit... Download the program Fiddler2. It is free and a "good guy" program. Run Fiddler2 and then reload your website. Fiddler2 will show you all the calls (failed or not) for a particualr file and scripts and graphics. You can see if you are having 404 errors and other things. This is how i figured out the ajax piece. |
Quote:
Maybe you need to change to read "http://yourwebsite.com/forum/mgc_cb_evo_ajax.php" ??? Or there of.... All my edit does is force the correct location to find mgc_cb_evo_ajax.php. |
