Thank you! |
Hmm, very nice mod. I seem to be having a problem with it though.
I think others have had this problem but I dont know if it was ever solved. When the shoutbox is viewed as a guest, it will say after 4 seconds that the user has been inactive, etc, etc, even though I have it set that it does not show that until after 5 minutes. It only happens to guests (on FF, and IE) so I dont know what the problem is. Also today my host contacted me about the shoutbox taking up way to much CPU Usage/Server Load...it seems like it is slowing the entire page down. I already had the stats option and team chat warn disabled to help on the server load. The last thing I can think of is making sure inactive counter works but I cannot use it if guests are counted as inactive after 4 seconds....Please help. |
can this be used to replace something like flashchat? ive been looking for a replcement for a while but never have found something that will work. namely a more "standalone" version of this script where you have to enter a separate page to chat. ie this w/o being able to access from the forums and force people to go to a "chatroom" page where its the full version.

ok it seems the loading is fine ... when i enter www it works just fine but without www. i onlysee loading

the same problem again! http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/406/weirdub7.jpg |
I believe I found the CAUSE of the dissapearing chat box.. It happened to my admin account and I don't want to change the config.php file to unprotect my name so I created another admin account.. This name, I can see the chat. All you have to do, is make any change (or no change) in your control panel and bam, it's gone. I deleted and recreated the new name and the chat is there. I went into my CP options, changed nothing, clicked save and the chat is gone. This is with version 1.3. Maybe that information will help fix the problem Untill then.. Hope no one changes their CP options. Did you others that have experienced this happen to change something in your CP?
-Andrew EDIT! You can restore the accounts by uninstalling the 2 products that come with this, and reinstalling them. You will need to restore usergroup permissions though. and you will lose your logs and such. |
Running V3.6.8, MGC Chatbox V1.2 (tried V1.4 but it was too unstable), using browser IE6 & IE7.
Read thru all 90 pages of posts, didn't see anything about this problem: At 1024x768 resolution the chatbox box extends to the right side, off screen. You have to pan over to the right to see the BBcode, Smilies, Help buttons, and to read long chat lines. At 1280x1024 Chatbox displays just fine. P.S. Other than that, Chatbox Rules! An occasional refresh twirly hangup, but, hey, this is a great hack; gets people on my forum more involved, makes the forum more intimate. POSTSCRIPT - Sept 1, 2007 It was a self-inflicted wound! If you go past 75 for the "Width of the field input" it causes the chatbox to start over extending to the right. |
Dev, hope your hols are going well and you're all rested.
I'll pop back after the 2nd to see if you've got ver.1.5 done. ;) Kelly |
