would it indicate a corrupt plugin.php file, incorrect location of plugins

i think the install of vb is corrupt

is there any way to verify this? or am i looking at a total reinstall

This is core vB, seems like you have a strange install of vB itself.

You have to remove the files of the chatbox (especially in includes/xml dir).

Is there any way to integrate this? All I am looking for is a very simple shoutbox that at the very least can have display permissions, and be integrated into vbadvanced cmps.

Thank you.

Yet no simple way sorry.

Nope, without code modification. Yes, with quite some modifications.

You have to activate them from your admincp.

LOL VBDev I figured it was worth a try to Kindle the fire under ya. :D Me and My Users Love This Mod and I Will Be Paying for the full version as soon as the new release hits. WooHoo!

Hi, the box (2.3.2) works very fine in firefox, opera in the forum and in the vbcmps portal but in the IE8 in the forum the box load and load and load (in the portal is no problem), what is this..

best regards
Elric

ps:
the board software is 3.8.3

kalisekj 06-24-2009 05:44 PM

BTW Can I possibly get someone to figure out how to show the chatbox on some other areas of my site, Critical areas being, profile pages, newthread pages, edit thread pages, in private messages pages. This way me and my mods will not miss a new user or critical question while doing our daily work around the web site.

kalisekj 06-25-2009 04:56 PM

How can I make Var $mgc_cb_evo_var recognized by VB 3.8.2?

jaredwilli 06-26-2009 03:29 PM

So I uninstalled this when I realized I didn't really like it, and now when I try to edit a usergroup, like the color of their name I get an error.

This is easy bro. You didn't uninstall per the instructions. RE-install this product, then uninstall it and you will be fine. This time read the instructions.

Sure thing. I'm used to seeing that error. ;)

NetX 06-27-2009 04:35 PM

I installed the chat fine, i see the options and aall in my admincp, but i cannot show the chat on my forum, when i try to assign the permissions to the user groups to allow the chat, the user group is duplicated and the original group stay without permissons.

Can somebody help?

macc 06-27-2009 04:48 PM

I think that your problem with duplicate usergroups have not to do with chat - it is host problem "suhosin" module!

Yes, my server has suhosin, is there some way to avoid this problem?

macc 06-27-2009 05:01 PM

Solutions:
If you have root access to your server and are able to modify your php.ini file, you can change the following values:
Make this:
suhosin.post.max_vars = 2048
suhosin.request.max_vars = 2048

If you do not have access to edit the php.ini file on your server, you can upload a .htaccess file to your {vBulletin}/admincp folder with the following code:
Make this:
php_value suhosin.request.max_vars 2048
php_value suhosin.post.max_vars 2048

If neither of the above options work then you will need to contact your host and ask them to change the values at the root level.

Edit: maybe you will get "500 error" - but best is to contact your host!

hope that helps

NetX 06-27-2009 06:57 PM

Thanks macc,

I changed this:

suhosin.post.max_vars = 2048
suhosin.request.max_vars = 2048

and the problem was fixed! :D

I take several seconds to load when you login to the forum and also to refresh the page. :(

tlwwolfseye 06-28-2009 04:23 PM

Often it says LOADING when I load the forum but it stays with loading, the shouts in the Chatbox don“t show. Why is that ?

Because you didn't search this thread. It's either a js error, or apache mod security.

Hiya,

First off I would like to say great mod, love it and thanks for all your effort and support. :)

I have detected a problem when using multiple channels in firefox 2.x When I switch channels for some reason the formatting of the columns goes all funny leading to huge spaces between the date/time, message etc (please refer to screenshot).

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Cheers!

Wow Bruce....that's messed up. Do VBDev a favor, open up the error console [Tools > Error Console], clear it so nothing is showing, then switch channels and post any errors from that if it shows any. That might help with the issues. Also include the version of the chat and firefox if you could. Thanks!

gpc10347 07-02-2009 11:10 AM

Hi there!
Any way to disable Delete All chats (of a user) in the side menu (but still allow for a single line delete of an individual chat) ?

(Accidently hit the option to delete all of a user)

Also.. maybe one more feature request: When users update albums, I never know it unless they tell me. It would be interesting for the chat to let us know when a picture has been added... (gpc10347 has added a new pic to the whatever album) - linked might be cool too but I need it to do my laundry too ..

geez.. Thanks (as always!)

cmmguy 07-03-2009 02:45 PM

Installed... works great. No issues with FireFox 3.5

cmmguy 07-03-2009 03:40 PM

Testing the:
"Display special chats (warnings) in a separate column in the chatbox"
Setting and have found that it displays properly in FireFox 3.5 but the columns overlap in IE6.

I tried decreasing the Percent of Special Chats column and the display problem shifts from one column to the other. It seems to be that the left column is fixed at a minimun width in IE6 because when I expand the whole browser width it fixes the overlap. This problem is not present in FireFox - which seems to properly adjust the width of both columns as the browser is adjusted.

Any suggestions?

Skyrider 07-03-2009 11:21 PM

VBDev, I installed the rainbow plugin:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...hlight=rainbow

But the color is not displaying in the chat box. Any way this can be done?

HP10T 07-07-2009 06:59 PM

How do you enable the option to show the users in the chat and also enable sound upon new message?

HP10T 07-07-2009 07:12 PM

I figured out the users in chat but am not seeing the option for users to disable new message notifications when I have that activated...

HP10T 07-07-2009 07:15 PM

Nevermind I just saw it has to be done from the USERCP, THANKS GREAT PROGRAM!

HP10T 07-07-2009 07:21 PM

I did notice that sometimes it won't list all the users in the chat. I have to exit it and then reconnect for it to reflect accurately. Anyone experience this?

It's not 100% accurate. You can change the time it refreshes in the settings. I know he's working on speeding it up in the newer version upcoming.

In the mgc chat templates, I reversed every instance of alt1 to alt2 and alt2 to alt1, which makes the main chat window white and the editor/onlineusers gray. MUCH better IMHO.

vgevolution 07-08-2009 07:25 AM

Oddities I've noticed:

1. BBCodes options are an all or nothing setting. It would be nice to have per usergroup settings for BBCode font, size, color, etc, not just for everyone or no one.
2. Even when I turn off the ability to use font, size and color options, they are still available in the BBcode bar. Shouldn't they be hidden? They don't do anything, so why are they visible? I do wish I could limit specific usergroups access to these BBcodes (see #1).
3. There is no size setting for the Users Online area, especially when embedded. The default size is HUGE compared to most of my forums. Had to forcefully modify the templates to fix it. It would also be nice to show the online users on the side as an option.
4. There should be an option to reverse the alt1/alt2 color scheme. I like my shouts on white, not grey. Again, had to mod the templates to fix it. I would also appreciate a theme override color scheme -- I may not want odd theme colors to be used in the shoutbox so my eyes don't bleed. In other words, if I have a dark theme, I may still want black shouts on white backgrounds.
5. There are too many confirmation popups. If I delete a shout, I don't need a popup telling me I deleted it. I can see that it's gone. ;) Any way to make it so when we double click a post, there's a little red "X" in front of it for a quick delete option?
6. If you choose to private shout someone using the drop down menu, you must click the Save button after typing your text, not just click Return/Enter, or it does nothing. Using /pm uname ... doesn't work well for me, if at all. Keep getting user not found errors. *shrug*
7. Is there a way to place the shoutbox into a simple php page, without any clutter, that expands to fill the entire window?
8. clicking the full page icon just opens the shoutbox in a new tab thanks to new browser behaviors. I was able to use a simple javascript edit to fix this.
9. new feature idea: option to enable a small reply icon (10x10 curving arrow or something) in front of each post. It's function: add "@uname: " to the shout input box automatically (kind of like twitter). This would be a welcome shortcut. I'm about to mod this in as well.
10. new feature idea: "Show More" link at the bottom of the chat area. Function: use ajax to load the previous X number of chats into the current window (reversed if you view newest at the top). Using this function should suspend refreshing and make the refresh button visible. Clicking the refresh button should reload the chat like normal.
11. the users online count seems to add invisible users (admins, test users).
12. I'd REALLY love the ability to use the Favorite Smilies and Smilie Popup+ mods in conjunction with this shoutbox.
13. I'd LOVE to get the latest version!! Some of the bugs you've fixed (especially the bug for users to search or view archive of channels they can't access) are showstoppers for me! I want to get the brand free version into production once you get the latest one out. I can't wait!! Keep up the great work!

Sorry, but unfortunately in this last series MGC chatbox does not have such options to be transferred alt1, alt2, behold and see the picture below, this gray better hope that if it can be white

Yeah, I know that. I said that I modified the templates associated with MGC Chatbox Evo and switched each instance of alt1 and alt2. That will reverse the colors so the grey becomes white and vice versa.
