You. But look around at the posts here. It's requested to be placed on all pages a bunch of times.

Huh?? I just want it on one page

Replace it with:

$vbulletin->templatecache['FORUMDISPLAY'] = str_replace('$navbar', '$navbar' . ' $Shoutbox', $vbulletin->templatecache['FORUMDISPLAY']);

This is a quick and dirty hack. The shoutbox will only show up under navbar!

3) If you want the shoutbox to show up only in certain forums:

a. add
if ($forumid ==13)
{

In the beginning of the above plugin. 13 is the forum ID you want the shoutbox to show.

b. add
}

in the end of the code.

The conditional doesn't work for me.

Where exactly do I need to put it??

Zelda-King 09-13-2005 09:53 PM

Thought I'd show you how this looks on my forum. Well anyway my main issue is the table width. Maybe it just shows because I'm testing on 800x600 screen resolution or something?

Hmm, I'm going to need to move it further down what with my welcome panel and all.

I have the same problem (in Firefox).

eNforce 09-13-2005 11:06 PM

How would I go about changing the background color and text color in the area where you type?

cuphongle 09-14-2005 08:11 AM

when installing...

mysql error: unknown table "shout"

Nope its not going to happen.. it would have to be a nonstandard options box and that would mess with different explorers... not good idea..

oh hum...

BR :(

Zelda-King 09-14-2005 04:01 PM

Another thing: how would I move the shoutbox near the bottom of the page?

Never mind, got it to work.

Works on 3.5 RC3

zemic 09-14-2005 10:48 PM

You should have this option in admincp >> vbulletin options >> vBshout options.

See image

jac1 09-15-2005 12:00 AM

Hi

Got this installed, works great. Would like to change the font size, make it a bit smaller. Is there a way of doing this? I have seen this asked before in this tread, but i haven't seen an answer.

Thanks.

Well I'll be darned! Don't think I've ever missed a bunch of admin cp options before. O_O Cheers for that! :)

The tablewidth thing appears to be temperamental. Looks fine at the moment. The feature screwed up my category colours once or twice though that was fine after a reboot so maybe it was a browser thing.

KarateKid 09-15-2005 06:52 AM

Does anyone has an idea, why the smilies in my shoutbox don't show up? www.kampfkunst-board.info/forum/index.php

Yes, they are activated via the acp settings... :ermm:

cos 09-15-2005 08:31 AM

Just a quick thankyou to 1 min to install

Cheers

I have the same error. (RC1)
There is no problem to hide the Shoutbox,

but I want "Can wiew Shoutbox, but not messages" for some usergroups.

Is there no way to do that without error?

HabbosUs 09-16-2005 11:07 AM

Hello,

I'm wondering if there is any way that i can restrict who uses the shoutbox. For example, only members who have made x amount of posts can use the shoutbox.

Thanks in advance,

southernlady 09-16-2005 11:28 AM

Restrict it by usergroups in the admincp. I did, that's how I did it so that only those who are registed can see it or post in it. Liz

HabbosUs 09-16-2005 02:16 PM

Hello,

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately restricting it by usergroup will not be adequate in this situation.

Im attempting to discourage members from spending hours chatting via the shoutbox because it means that they are not posting on the forum! I don't want to have to remove the shoutbox although it is looking like this is the only option.

I suppose that i could create a new usergroup which has access to the shoutbox and manually transfer the members who meet the requirements into this group. This would do the job although it would be time consuming.

Does anybody else have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Zelda-King 09-16-2005 10:26 PM

I've noticed when I use the /me command, my username isn't indicated with the datestamp. (Of course, it shows in the shout...) Is this normal?

Working as designed. ;)

Zelda-King 09-16-2005 10:35 PM

I suspected so. Just needed to be sure.

I confirm the problem.

aranthorn 09-18-2005 04:32 AM

99% of users have no problem. A couple users have the issue with "Loading" appearing in the box but it doesn't load and when they input into the text field and hit enter, they get a white page. I don't know why only a couple users have this problem, perhaps it's a java version problem?

Thanks for the hack, BTW. For 99% of my users it works great and they love it.

I Agree!
There is only one problem:

"15Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /vbshout.php on line 288"

No, there are two problems, the one you describe and the apostrophe edit problem. Just try and you will see.

Zelda-King 09-18-2005 03:51 PM

I haven't tried the other prune commands but /pruneshout [shout] doesn't appear to do anything. I assume you're meant to quote the whole shout between the []? Because that's what I did.

Do it in the Shout Archive. ;)

kylek 09-19-2005 02:54 AM

Trying to ban ccertain usergroups from seeing the messages in the shoutbox, for banned permissions I have set it to can view shoutbox, but not messages,
and have added the usergroup id number into the banned usergroup box. Now for those people they see the shoutbox but with this warning.

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /vbshout.php on line 288

I am using vB 3.5.0 RC3

I'm wondering why one would need a pruneshout command then, when you can just go to the archive and use the delete option. So... I figured these were actual shoutbox commands as I know /me is.

Boofo 09-19-2005 05:19 AM

pruneshout came along before the archive. I think he just left the code in there instead of messing with it. ;)

Where does one find the shout archive? It must be late, don't see anything about shout archive.

Boofo 09-19-2005 05:51 AM

Click on the Shoutbox link at the top. ;)
