Does anyone know why this did not work?

Hello, I would just say I have the same problem :(

It would be AWESOME, willing to pay if so.

For users who have installed VBSEO, here are the rewrite rules I have used in the vbseo control panel (the htaccess included with this mod did not work when included with the htaccess mod provided by VBSEO)

'^userpage\.php\?do=list' => 'user-personal-pages.html'
'^userpage\.php\?do=main&userid=(\d+)$' => 'user-page-for-user$1.html'

This will allow the forum member to access thier page by thier user number. If someone can get this to work by replacing the user number with the users name, that would be great.

Furthermore, I presume these rewrites could be done in the htaccess file of a board without VBSEO. Please let me know how it works if you try it.

PS: Amy, sent a little donation :) Got this error on the way back to your site: VB_AREA or THIS_SCRIPT must be defined to continue (Just to let you know...)

See here install FAQ Above:

FAQ
How do I rebuild Bitfields?
Run the following: http://www.yoursite.com/forum/admin...=buildbitfields

This will fix it...

gael11 10-12-2005 07:08 PM

Thanks for your answer, didn't think to read the post. Works very well ;)

StarGame 10-13-2005 03:49 PM

Yea nice one mate, i will try that.
Cheers :)

EDIT:
I do not know if this is right but on a members profile it has the link but next to it says 'Unknown Location' then the link to the userpage. (see attachment for image)

does anyone know how to edit this to get it to say something like users page etc, or has anyone see it on there own forums??
Cheers

I'm able to construct my page now, but it seems the more content I add, the bigger the space between the 'delete this page' and the actual page content gets.

See the attachment to what I'm talking about. The more I add to the page, the wider that space gets. How do I stop it from doing that?

Ericsson 10-15-2005 08:30 AM

How can I make the gaps between each shout thinner?

JoeWho 10-15-2005 12:37 PM

Hi amykhar,

I Hope you can help?
1. I cant save the Usergroups settings for the "Give Your Users a Custom Page on Your Site" any and all other changes made to Usergroups will save. The database table in MYSQL looks ok to me, but I don't know what I'm looking at... "beginner/newbe"

2. The text for this add-on is missing (see .gif)... Yes, I have read through the 491 posts, but I still don't know how to fix these 2 problems. Also I can not test it till... I can give myself permission to use it... LOL (you do not have permission to access this page). The parts that are working appears to be working good!

Thanks for all your work on this and I hope I'm not being a pain in the rear!

Hi,

Thanks!
Ok, I found the "phrase manager" and that fixed that problem... :)

But... I have run the "index.php?do=buildbitfields", several times and it did not fix the problem, any suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

Make sure you run this after you upload all files.

Amy,

The plugin you added to style_fetch was throwing a query on every page. I moved it to usercp_start and it is working great. Just wanted to suggest it.

:)

Great catch, Christine. I never even noticed that before. ;)

paulomt1 10-17-2005 07:17 PM

Great hack :-) I will wait for vb 3.5 Gold release

Kayn 10-18-2005 06:44 PM

This is a good hack. I will install it later.

For now though, I must go back to... the job.

Anyone know what would cause this space to appear?

amykhar 10-19-2005 12:59 AM

Did you change any templates?

cdoyle 10-19-2005 01:03 AM

just what the instructions said to do?

cdoyle 10-19-2005 01:11 AM

OK, just noticed something.

If I don't use any tables within my page, it doesn't cause any space to be added. But if I use any tables within my page, the space appears.

Also not sure if this was done on purpose, or if there is something wrong.
When creating a page, the 'insert image' icon is missing. Is it suppose to be there, or is something wrong with my install?

likewise, any word on the 3.5 gold release?

amykhar 10-20-2005 12:48 PM

Somebody else reported that the image icon is missing, but I have not been able to duplicate that. I suspect that it may have something to do with how the permissions are set on your board.

Regarding tables, there's not much I can do regarding the appearance of the HTML within the page. Your markup will determine the appearance of the page and the HTML within this page should be no different than HTML within a post. If it hoses a post, it's likely to hose the page too. You'll just have to tinker with your markup to make it look like you want it.

EasyTarget 10-20-2005 04:28 PM

dang, saw your name and thought maybe the update was done.

cdoyle 10-20-2005 09:43 PM

On our current 3.0x forum we are using this webpage hack
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...ght=guest+book

and it seems to be OK with using tables. I actually just copied the HTML from that page, and copied into this new one, and that's when I noticed the problem.

Maybe there is something you can see in his hack, that allows HTML tables to work.

Startinfresh 10-21-2005 12:46 PM

Is this running/working with 3.5 gold??

Yeah just got done adding it to my 3.5 gold and it works just fine.

make sure you read the FAQ

~ Thank you again Amy!

EDIT: I have no link to Edit User Page in the CP, is there any easier way to fix this other then uninstall and installing again?

Other then that better then expected, adding video to my page and all!

paulomt1 10-21-2005 07:30 PM

If this hack work on 3.5 Gold why is for 3.5.0 Beta 4?
Who have a beta installed at this time?
Sorry, but I don't understand.

amykhar 10-21-2005 09:15 PM

It was written when VB was in beta 1. It was updated at Beta 4. I haven't updated it since. It works on all 3.5 versions up to and including gold.

rickycc 10-22-2005 01:18 AM

it is not working with style element from vbstyles, do you have a fix.

see: cargek

tteal 10-22-2005 01:22 AM

Amy,
First and foremost, thank you for sharing such a wonderful hack. I had some issues with it though and have to delete it, then, re-add it. Is there a script to delete/uninstall, then, reinstall?

Thank you,
Tim

Dez_U 10-22-2005 09:34 AM

Hi, I get this error.
Warning: mysql_real_escape_string() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /includes/class_core.php on line 635

I get it when I try and activate the hack on a user group?

what did I do wrong :)

amykhar 10-22-2005 03:49 PM

Dez, it sounds like you didn't update the bitfields.

Dez_U 10-22-2005 06:23 PM

OK, :) thanks I knew it was something silly

rickycc 10-22-2005 11:03 PM

can i get some help?

Parture 10-23-2005 06:31 AM

When someone reports a bad post and I change the ID for the forum it is to be reported, the bad report post reads as follows which is not very helpful. How do I fix this so it links back to the User page itself to be edited?

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN\" \"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd\">
Partrib has reported a problem with this personal page.

This is neat

userpage.php?userid=1

DjTaz 10-23-2005 01:01 PM

amykhar , Thanks for a brilliant hack - i just installed this on my test board and it worked a treat , no problems , no issues , everything works great first time and im very impressed with the whole thing !
( I read and followed the instructions to the letter and all worked for me )

I do have 1 question though .... instead of ' userpage.php?do=main&userid=1 ' I think someone said you could edit this to say ' /djtaz ' as the link for the personal page ?
Can you tell me if this is possible , and if so , is it easy ... and if you have time , how its done ??

Dezu - if you type in 'http://mysite.com/forum/userpage.php?do=list' your will get the list of who has sites - just manually add this to your Navbar Template
Code:

                        <td class="vbmenu_control">
<a href="userpage.php?do=list' ">User Homepages</a></td>

Or something like the above for the list of homepages.
