I can't replicate it on localhost with the fixed code I gave you. Also please could you let me know if you're using Apache1 or 2 vau7 :)?

vau7 11-28-2005 10:33 AM

HeyDean,
i am using apache 2.0 Handler.

Ask if you need some more Infos.

hex1848 11-30-2005 11:26 PM

Has anyone had any problems with the rewrite not working towards the end of the page? Take a look at http://www.cigarsmokers.com. At the beginning of the third category (specifically the cigarsmokers.com cat) the rewrite just stops working.

The only thing I can think of is that the sub forum links right above the category are messing things up.

Aside from that, thanks for the great plug-in. I just upgraded to 3.5.1 from 3.0.7 and it sure beats the heck out of all the template modifications I was doing to accomplish basically the same thing.

Does anyone have an issue with server load going sky high with this mod?

like i said, its a great idea. i do love the way it looks, but i get search bots on my site alot, and hadn't seen any results on google/yahoo/ or msn

irishblacknight 12-01-2005 09:21 AM

Thanks for the plugin - it's very tasty.

Two queries / issues:

1 - Shortcuts ie. creating a forum that links to a site. If I put one of those in the plugin stops working completely.

2 - Thread tools - One of our moderators is reporting issues with thread tools ie. for merging threads etc. Is there anyway around this?

That's got to be the same issue I'm having. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

Dean C 12-01-2005 01:14 PM

hex + irishblackknight - these two bugs are fixed in my latest version. I have a few people testing it for me.

irishblacknight 12-01-2005 01:18 PM

Dean C - the thread tools one as well? :)

hex1848 12-01-2005 01:49 PM

I would be more then happy to test it for you as well if you can send me a PM with a place to download it.

If you wait for the next version it'll work correctly on german boards. Also as stated on several occasions in this thread already, I will not be rewriting the lastpost links on the first page. Search if you want the reason.

bitblaster 12-03-2005 02:40 PM

I have it installed... but I am having a problem... I think I have mod_rewrite enabled but it does not appear to be working properly.

Please PM me with info on setting it up if you can, server is running Fedora Core 4.

Thanks

Dan 12-03-2005 02:45 PM

What version of apache are you using bitblaster?

Dean C 12-03-2005 06:06 PM

There are no apache issues with this version dan. That was just with the beta we tried on your forums (which will be the next publically available version).

Dan 12-03-2005 06:13 PM

Well still it could be an apache specific problem Dean ;)

COsborne 12-04-2005 06:19 PM

I am running this plugin on my vb3.5.1 and users are driving me crazy with complaints that when they click last page it doesn't take them to the last page.

example:
http://www.theforumlounge.com/f14-sh...he-breeze.html

DAK's Daily WTF pics
Trolling Pbase

Both of those do it. Any suggestions of what is wrong?

Dean C 12-04-2005 07:10 PM

What are you talking about. What is clicking last page?

Lizard King 12-04-2005 07:12 PM

When you have a thread more then 100 pages this hack causes a lot of troubles. This is why i am trying to uninstall this. If the last page is 220 and you click from thread name it will not take you to page 220 instead it takes you to page 2.

Dean C 12-04-2005 07:41 PM

Lizard King, go into your .htaccess file and remove any instances of &pp=10 (temporary fix).

COsborne 12-04-2005 10:13 PM

yeah, even if the thread is just something like 29 it will send you to page 2

It's been mentioned/discussed earlier also - I disabled this system until that little bug is squashed as it did indeed drive people crazy. Still, I have to commend Dean C for all the (constant!) support he continues to give, it's nice to see it take place. :)

COsborne 12-06-2005 02:52 AM

I've left mine up in case someone needs a testing platform. I ran through it once and didn't see the source of the bug but I wasn't very thorough.

Dean C 12-06-2005 07:51 AM

I see what you mean vau. I know how to fix it, but I'm almost positive I've fixed that before. Ah well, will fire off a fresh version to you in the next few days :)

dcroissant 12-06-2005 12:00 PM

Coundn't find an answer. Does this provide a 301 redirect?

No, old threads will be redirected to the new URL format (R=301) in the next versions.

COsborne 12-06-2005 10:06 PM

send me a new version too if you don't mind :)

Glovebox 12-07-2005 07:59 AM

Dean, in the latest beta you sent. Users are unable to view preview pages of forums. It just reloads the current page.

Ericsson 12-08-2005 08:34 AM

Hi on www.freespacechat.com when you click on a thread from the index is shows the normal PHP, how can I get it for the SEO thread?

Sean James 12-09-2005 12:24 AM

Awesome script ;)

Used this on a clients site and it when i compared his keywords stats to previous months they have doubled. Takes about 1-2 weeks before u start seeings results but its well worth it.

I am so happy with this script i installed it on Bluepearl Design last night, and today i plan on installing it on USFTECH Gaming.

Okie 12-09-2005 02:32 PM

Hey Dean is there any chanse we can make the url of the thread

/thread4129-where-can-i-find-indy-promotions.html

to

/where-can-i-find-indy-promotions/

and the forum url

/f64-gun-forum.html

To

/gun-forum/

i hope there is chanse for this :)

COsborne 12-09-2005 02:41 PM

not unless you dont want to allow duplicate threads and want to write a rewrite for every forum

Okie 12-09-2005 04:13 PM

Oops

never think about that :D

Alright how about this

/thread4129-where-can-i-find-indy-promotions.html

to

/where-can-i-find-indy-promotions-122/

122 is the url id.

and the forum url

/f64-gun-forum.html

To

/gun-forum/
or
/f1/
/f2/
etc..

i think it will be nice if there is options :)

COsborne 12-09-2005 07:16 PM

if you add the thread id to the end of the url it is easily noticed by users and requires a much more complicated rule to accomplish. Changing to the forum name is doable but like I said it requires a rule for each forum which takes a while and doesnt allow for easily changing names. I wrote a mod for my old version of vbulletin (preplugin) so I've messed around with a lot of the options. I even went so far as to rewrite attachments so that they 1) were watermarked and 2) were affixed with .jpg so they could be included in posts safely.

Dean C 12-09-2005 10:04 PM

Great sig okie :) Yes it's possible, but I don't plan on doing it I'm afraid. I have a very very very busy weekend. I'm aiming to cram in all my coursework and get it out the way which will leave me an enjoyable week to release the next version.
