Great hack m8, realy thx

syrus.xl 11-25-2005 01:17 AM

:D Nice, simple to install hack! Clicked Install!

wildondallas 11-26-2005 05:14 AM

Click Install:)

Separated it from the Whats Going On? box, which is at the top of our forums, and placed it at the bottom of our forums. I also used the mods to have a box collapsed as default, to some of our other boxes, like Who's In Chat, and Number of Registered Members Today, so they are collapsed as default.

tormodg 11-26-2005 11:48 AM

Wow...can it get any easier than this. Excellent.

chrisisonfire 11-27-2005 10:19 PM

Working well, thanks Paul. :)

I was wondering where I can change the phrase; "Total members that have visited the forum today." so that I can replace it with something I'd prefer.

Edit it in the ACP Phrase Manager, the phrase is called 'visited_today'.

John Lester 11-28-2005 05:46 PM

Holy cow...this took like 10 seconds to install.

And it just *works*.

I love it. Thank you, Paul M!

bonjurkes 11-29-2005 07:49 PM

it works fine..

thanx paul m ;)

clicked the install

Emil 11-30-2005 12:57 PM

This is great.

But one question. Is it possible to have the table collapsed as default? So that the members have to click on the expand button to see all the usernames. Because when you have 500+ members that have visited, the table is very very long. Any way to do this? Thanks

How to do that is in the thread - That's the way I have it set up (collapsed) - But I can't remember the specific post it is in.

Emil 11-30-2005 02:53 PM

Ok thanks. I'll search for it.

I think this is the code for the forumhome template:
Code:

<!-- Start Todays active users -->
<tbody>
    <tr>
        <td class="thead" colspan="2">
            <a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse('forumhome_todayusers')"><img id="collapseimg_forumhome_todayusers" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_thead_collapsed.gif" alt="" border="0" /></a>
            Registered Visitors that have stopped by the forums today: $totaltoday
        </td>
    </tr>
</tbody>
<tbody id="collapseobj_forumhome_todayusers" style="display:none;">
    <tr>
        <td class="alt2"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/whos_online.gif" alt="Users online today" border="0" /></td>
        <td class="alt1" width="100%"><div class="smallfont">$whotoday</div></td>
    </tr>
</tbody>
<!-- End Todays active users -->

There is no longer any code in the forumhome template. You need to make a couple of edits to the "Display_Visitors" template. I posted them somewhere, I'll see if i can find the post later.

OK - Sorry, hadn't noticed it was updated - I'm using the old version and it works fine so no need for me to update.

Great hack Paul!!! I started wit 4.02 a while back and have now removed it and upgraded to 4.11. Both versions work perfectly. Highly recommended!!!!

Enthonia Tech 12-01-2005 05:16 AM

WhatChaMissin 12-01-2005 12:04 PM

*installed and working great thanks

Dennis B 12-01-2005 02:20 PM

Great hack Paul, thanks. I also chose to have it collapsed by default, though (600+ people at the end of the day). ;)

BiReL41r 12-02-2005 03:06 AM

Yes, another great hack. Had this installed on my vB3.0 forum, great hack! A+!

glensmail 12-02-2005 08:38 AM

Installed (Clicked INSTALL aswell ;) ) and all working fine,

Thanks to the OP, this is just what I was looking for.

Bubble #5 12-04-2005 03:33 AM

Hi Paul :) This is not showing up. Is there any way that we can install it manually through the templates? We just checked and the ACP section is there, and the template 'Display_Visitors' is there, so most likely the code in 'What's going on' is just missing.

Paul M 12-04-2005 09:29 AM

First of all, have you checked what usergroups are allowed to see it ?

The actual code looks for the html comment "<!-- end logged-in users -->" in your forumhome template - if you have removed that for some reason then just insert it back where you want this to appear.

Thank you Paul :) That seems to have fixed it.

Could you please clearify what is meant by "Set to 'yes' for a rolling 24 hour display, leave as 'no' to reset the count at each members midnight." ? Does that mean that if it's set to yes and member 'X' logs in at 5:00 - that he will stay on the list until 5:00 the next day? VS. the no setting which would wipe the slate clean at midnight for everybody. Is that what it means?

Highendfreak 12-04-2005 05:53 PM

Nice Hack Paul, but is it also possible to show the total number of guests who have visited the forum today?!

Works Great!

Calisse 12-05-2005 10:56 PM

simple to use but a REAL enhancement for every single forum. Wouldnt use it if i had thousands of people on every day though.

install it now!! 20/10

That's why I remove the box that lists the members and just keep the 'Total Members That Have Visited in the Last 24 Hours:' line

Paul M 12-05-2005 11:20 PM

If I get some free time I may add a couple of options - one to suppress the list when a certain number of visitors is exceeded, and one to make it always collapsed by default. It may be a while though before these get added.

Antivirus 12-09-2005 12:27 AM

very nice, thank you

ReZ 12-11-2005 09:50 AM
