Damn fine addon John, my members love it.

One thing I will say is that the Challenge system is hard to fathom. I would like to see the ability to issue a challenge on any game to any user. At the moment all I can see is the ability to challenge someone who already played. Makes it difficult to find. Could a change to issues challenges be made in an upcoming release?

Cheers

Souli 01-21-2004 06:51 AM

Super Hack! Very Very good!

<< Klick Install

MaDCaT75 01-21-2004 06:53 AM

Just click on there nick within any post and on the drop-down menu you can select challenge.

SnowBot 01-21-2004 07:14 AM

OK silly question but some of my members have said that the games seem laggy then all of a sudden speed up, is this simply because my server is US based and most my members are UK or are they talking out there asses ?

MaDCaT75 01-21-2004 07:18 AM

I thought games running were client side not server side?

SnowBot 01-21-2004 07:26 AM

thats what im thinking but i cant explain it so thought id post and get an answer for them.

MaDCaT75 01-21-2004 08:16 AM

interesting indeed.......

Humm I only have 25
Is there a way I can redo the templates?

Thanks SnowBot, that is one way. I mean having a link in the arcade next to each game, saying something like "Challenge". Then a username would be entered and the process begin. 90% of the time I would say a challenge would be issued from the arcade.

Cheers

John 01-21-2004 09:26 AM

Yes, all the games are clientside.

I was missing the template 'modifyarcade'
Does that sound about right?

ok just reran the installer.. but ONLY the templates part and now everythings back.. but I still have that prob with the challenger page!

John 01-21-2004 09:31 AM

Yes, that's the Arcade settings template.

aloha 01-21-2004 09:44 AM

Could we possibly get a full out list of what games you have done so far? I'm just hoping I didn't miss any. Nice hack by the way.

John 01-21-2004 09:46 AM

MaDCaT75, your source code doesn't work.

I've just shelled out €79 that I can't afford on the full version, to try and get this working - I'll let you know how I get on...

All of the games that have been released are listed on the front page. :)

You sure that's a good idea? (Considering how easy it is to cheat)

Detomah 01-21-2004 10:15 AM

I don't think this is a bug as it's not causing a propblem for 99% of my users, but every now and then the odd user PM's me saying their score has not been added to the high score table, which is then follwed by me recieving an email from my server stating the following:

Quote:

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.0 Release Candidate 2:

Invalid SQL:
SELECT COUNT(*) + 1 AS scoresAbove
FROM gamesessions
WHERE score > AND valid=1 AND gamename=''

mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND valid=1 AND gamename=''' at line 3

mysql error number: 1064
As I said, most of the time the scores are included and everything is fine, so i don't know if it's just th odd connectivity probelm or what?

Any idea what may be causing this and how I could possibly fix it?

Ohh and great hack, my users are well happy with it, although I do suspect the odd member of figuring out some way to cheat with the copter game as some rediculous scores like 3500+ have come in.

John 01-21-2004 10:18 AM

I'll add it to the list of things to check. :)

No, it's perfectly normal to get scores like that on the Chopper game... my personal best is 6100.

lol, I guess it just means I'm really bad at the game then, with a top score on it of 1500ish. >.<

To add to post above, the odd user it 's happening to, for me to get those emails, is saying they are not even getting the comments screen after finishing a game when it happens, they are bounced straight back to the main arcade menu. But once it happens to them once, it happens every time after. I believe there is 5 users out of 1400ish that this is happening to.

SnowBot 01-21-2004 10:49 AM

:) iv looked but cant find it with all the templates :)

Where can i delete the flash banner code? and the other, they look abit ++++ty on my skin.

Cheers :)

John 01-21-2004 10:56 AM

That's weird. None of the variables in that SQL query are coming through. Is there any connection between the users that this is happening to?

None really to be honest, all from different places, all with different ISP's, all signed up at different times, etc.

Great, thanks for letting me know. If anyone else installs on RC3 without a problem, say something in the thread to let me know that there aren't any problems.

msimplay 01-21-2004 01:31 PM

Hmm ur version of curveball seems to missing some sounds check this version to see which ones

Nice work, both games work great in our arcade.

For the folks who already did this, when upgrading to RC3 what steps were required to make your arcade work again (besides re-hacking the php files of course)? You didn't need to reinstall any templates or blah.game.php files right?

Simms 01-21-2004 01:50 PM

I'm getting the exact same message as noted in
this post...the exact same line number.

Quote:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/my/website/forums/includes/functions.php on line 2753
I read the follow-up response (I didn't edit in Dreamweaver originally, I used EditPlus), and re-edited in WordPad. I'm still getting the error.

Any suggestions?

I appears as though everything installed okay, though I haven't actually tried to play any games yet.

None of the threads in the main forum will open now. I get a variation on the above message (identifying functions.php and line 2753)...something about not being able to set cookies because the header has already been sent.

Simms 01-21-2004 02:04 PM

It may also be worth noting that replacing functions.php with the original, unaltered file does nothing to solve the problem. Could it be there's some sort of conflict with a portion of the arcade code somewhere else?

John 01-21-2004 02:04 PM

Simms, it's either a problem with you not following the installation instructions properly or you've accidentally made an error in functions.php which has caused the problem you're seeing throughout the forum. Replace functions.php from the backup you made, and make the file modifications in Notepad.

Smirks 01-21-2004 02:21 PM

Would it be possible to have a leader board, to just display who has what trophies?

... and maybe something that says the total number of all games played combined, so we don't have to add up all the individual ones.

... and maybe change the title to be something like "BBTitle - Arcade - GAME".

... attached is a white version of play.gif for use with dark styles.

:)

GamerzWorld 01-21-2004 02:36 PM

It seems vb has changed the showthread as it is no longer working. They have also changed usergroups. Can you upgrade it please

Edit- Just read someone else upgraded no problem. Strange. I will reinstall hack but it was giving me errors oO

GamerzWorld 01-21-2004 02:46 PM

Ok fixed sorry about that

I just used beyond compare as i have more than 1 hack installed. All went easily.

Also as a note when i install any hack i allways comment a few lines out saying which hack it is.

the games do work great but this version seems to be missing some sounds and bonuses like curveball bonus etc
in comparison to futereals Vb2 version
