If it's a subdomain, like www.domain.com and sub.domain.com you only need 1 license.

You wouldn't move any posts or forums- after installing this mod you'd simply list one set of forums on one domain, and another set of forums on the sub-domain.

I have a few questions, I have been reading about 300 posts but getting a little confused.

1) Does this work with VBSEO.
2) Why does every site have a members page for the subdomain, surely this is duplicate content ?
3) Even if I configure each cat id, I can still see them on my main www site ?

still on 3) should I also configure the www domain in ceberus? (cats)

My problem with VBSEO is this:

If i turn off VBSEO it will not revert pages to the original www domain, but with VBSEO on once i go into a page on the subdomain it loses its subdomain.

I had to remove this. I just could not get it working with VBSEO.

However I think this mod is fantastic and with a little work it could be one of the best modifications out there.

I would pay for something like this that would integrate into vbseo seamlessly.

If I could make some suggestions as I know there is a new release on its way out (which I will be watching with keen interest)

1) Full integration with vbseo
2) Full integration with both vbseo sitemaps and the vbulletin sitemaps
3) Members pages are only stored on one default Forum (IE www.mainsite.com)

I think you might be able to do 3 with a preg replace.

However I really tried myself to get it working with VBSEO but had no luck.

Can someone tell me the pros and cons have using, with this mod, either separate domains or sub domains on one?

I am aware that with separate domains requires more licences but sub domains don't but it is not the cost that I am concerned about. One of the main considerations would be the listings in search engines and what could have the best opportunity to attract traffic and any other pros and cons...thanks

Unfortunately Google does see it as the same site using multiple domains. :(

I have been playing with this and seems to be working pretty well so far. I am running them on separate domains and surprisingly I am not having any issues with vBseo. That is, as long as you have a license for each domain.

Looking forward to whats coming in the future for this..

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to redirect the secondary domains to domain.com/forum.php (via htaccess, or similar)

Since I am using the CMS, the secondary site gets redirected to the CMS page, which is the same as the primary site.

I face problem when I try to post new thread. Instead of domain2 url I get url that points to domain1 and I am getting the error message for the permissions. If I copy and paste manually the url that points to domain2, then the posting is working just fine.

I have change host and changed domains and i lost the settings for cerberus as someone helped me set up the subdomains and now I dont know how to recreate them.

I've tried it and had it working. There are a couple of issues, the biggest one being with vB's WYSIWYG editor, all of the icons and there functions disappear. It also seems to mess with the unread post counts a bit.

yeah, it has some critical problems regarding sections and sitemaps. Fixing them now :(

I have it working with sections... let me know if you want to take a look.

I have found that when I enable this mod and am using a hack such as the digitalpoint spy mod / vBISpy mod... they both will display posts that are in sections that are disallowed via usergroup permissions and displays them publicly in the feed.

I understand that those mods have nothing to do with you but I just though i'd put this out there to see if enabling Cerberus opens some sort of security hole..

I know I haven't been able to release this in the time frame I wanted. One of the prime reason being joining up vB team. But then again, that helped me learn a lot of things too. The other reason is that I always kept looking for ways to minimize the file edits.
I apologize for the delay.

Thanks to everyone sending me PM showing interest to help testing this add-on. I am finally at a point where I consider this "update" to meet beta testing standard.

Right now, here are the things I still need to do:
- Upgrade to 418 and make sure nothing breaks (it shouldn't but still...)
- Separate my site related custom code from Cerberus core product code
- Setup a forum for discussion
- Setup an issue tracker

Though I'm still torn between installing 418 or jumping to 4110...

Once done, the first post of this thread will be updated with the latest version and you can report the bugs in the issue tracker/discuss possible features in the forums etc etc.

Have you requested the needed hooks, so that if those are implemented in vb, no file edits are needed?

Some file edits are must (at least for now) even with hooks. But yes, I am going to make hook requests.
