it has nothing to do with vbseo for sure. thats a simple problem the mod has with some generated descriptions, the video you are trying to RETRIEVE has to Little or no description, this Will happen on a local video more than lets say one from you tube because the description was added when the person upload to youtube.

Now unless you own your server with gigs of space this is a good thing, because if you uploaded those files to paid server it would cost you to store them on your server, hard drive usage.

so by retrieving the info and basically hot linking to the video using the embedding method
you get the benefit of free file storage :)

But not every video is going to have the same definition, and I'm not sure if youtube or whoever will let you not add some kind of description to it before its uploaded, if they do it wont have one when media try to retrieve it. that cause the little error.

But in most cases I have been able to just add a longer definition i think its like 10 letter not 5 but not sure so if it happens I have just put videovideo whateverit is and then it accepts it. now this has only happened one or twice and i think on a local video that i did actually upload to my severer for testing I had to first make the wav movie into a flash movie I then upload it to the server to the media folder and used localvideo:nameofthemovie.swf to retrieve the video from my server just as you would from youtube.


of course the movie had no definition because it has never been upload to youtube. so i had that problem. once the video is accepted it should be able to be modified to a different description or heck just add a good description of the dang thing :>

I like the sound of this mod but have a question. Firstly my apologies if this has been answered before but 33 pages seems a lot to read through...

A member hotlinks a youtube video they link and it's posted on a separate "Video" page/tab?
Can a member upload a personal video they've recorded and have it played as well?
Are all the videos a member links to and/or has uploaded themselves, shown in their profile as some sort of video album, similar to the photo album in the profiles?

I'd love to offer this sort of service to my members where they can build their own video album and have it shown on a separate video tab for other members to view. Perhaps with some kind of rating system of sorts.

Why don't you just type a description into the text box? When you click Submit Media on the submit form, it does not do ANY retrieval from feeds; so it is technically IMPOSSIBLE for this problem to exist. The information is passed from the text box; not from the feed. So I have no idea what this issue is, you are having. Sounds to me like User Error. You can add a video with no description simply by adding a description to the text box:

I'm not quite sure what you're asking... but videos can be sorted by which user uploaded them, and there is a rating system.

Ok I'll try and clarify.... I understand they're able to link to YouTube,. I was wondering of the member can upload a personal video, to my forum somehow which is then run locally off my server? Secondly, is there an "album" of sorts in their profile showing the videos they've uploaded and/or linked to (youtube)?

Nice options but one thing that I don't see listed is the option to subscribe to an uploader. I hope you have plans for that.

Warning: mysql_real_escape_string() errors will be fixed in next version. mysql_real commands are reserved for MySQL, not MySQLi. So in the next version, i have changed the procedure to use the addslashes command instead.

Lol... I honestly don't care. These kind of contests are more of a popularity contest than anything else. I'm not a popular person on any forum I attend; simply because I expect everyone else on the forums to have the same amount of common sense as I do... so I tend to ignore people who don't, or respond to them with disdain. I like it when people get to the point, and hate it when people give me the run around. I also hate repeating myself, and fixing "dumb" problems.

I'm sure you guys have read my previous posts and can just feel some of the hate I have for other programmers around here (especially the UI designers of vB4; the programming is GREAT, but the UI and styling is atrocious)... When it comes to programming, common sense is essential. This isn't PERL, this is PHP... there are right and WRONG ways to do things. Its the responsibility of every programmer to do their best to do things the right way, and skim off as much overhead from a program as possible.

Not only that, what I hate most is when people tell me they have an error... but then don't bother to actually post the error.

Really, if I had $5 for every nomination... I think I would be better off.

after upgrading i lose all Thumbnails and i can't do "Rebuild Media Thumbnails" i have this error

go into your server to customVD folder and then CMOD thumbs folder to 777 from 755
then go into admicp/maintenace/ update counters/ go all the way down and run rebuild media thumbnail
should work from then on.

i wouldnt worry about that one untill you fix the other one, might fix that tag error if you just ddo what i said for the media thunmbs rebuild

customVD folder
all the folder in that folder should be 777 before you rebuild

when you rebuild scroll down as the thumbs are being rebuilt and see if it errors at the bottem. if it doesnt its working

probibly wont hurt to run Rebuild Media Information too!
