Now few questions.

1) I know that by default each member will have 500 of vcash. So it is up to them how they use the 500. Is that the only way they can play?

I mean lets say I have a forum with 30,000 members and I open a vbookie event.

Now lets say 10 of those members use their max vcash which is 500.

And next day they want to place another new bet, but they will be on 0?

How do I tackle this. If they are on 0 and I manually give them vcash from settings, will it not be unfair for the other members?.

You have an option of "Give to the poor" which means that whenever a new event is created anyone with 0 will get 'X' amount given to them.

Or you could install a hack like 'ucash' where members can earn points per post etc... To 'spend' in the vbookie.

What Noddy said.

Regs 09-06-2010 07:03 PM

Another option is to reset everyone each month or something.

For my uses, I give everyone $1000 to start with each month (after recording the top 10 for the previous month - hint Dartho to code in a monthly top earners feature :) ).

I also set a max bet limit of $500 so people can't blow it all in one go (another hint to Dartho so I don't have to keep hacking this in :) ) - search the old vbookie thread for "max limit" and you'll find the necessary hack to do this.

Cheers,

Regs.

I am using vbcredits as currency for this. When I place bets the credits arent changed for me (admin) but it seems to be working for everyone else. Any thoughts dartho? Cool mod btw

neverstop 09-09-2010 11:41 PM

Also this is probably a dumb question but this:

Quote:

5. Set usergroup permissions
I dont see any usergroup permission settings other than who can post events in the vbookie settings page. Are there more permissions?

dartho 09-09-2010 11:48 PM

Yep - in settings is where you can set who can create events, edit events and bet on events

neverstop 09-09-2010 11:52 PM

ok thanks,

any idea why my credits arent going down despite the fact i have bet on like 15 events? they seem to be decreasing for others who are making the same bets.

dartho 09-10-2010 12:01 AM

mmm... No... Are you using the vbcredits integration in vbookie, or vbookies integration in vbcredits?

dartho 09-10-2010 12:02 AM

Actually - just had a thought. Does the same happen if you bet on an event created by someone else, or only on your own events. Also - when you settle an event that you created - do you get the money?

I know I changed vBookie for myself so that funds went into, and came out of the balance of teh person creating the event. Perhaps I inadvertently released this version!

neverstop 09-10-2010 12:12 AM

I create all of the events so that is answer to question 1.

I havent settled any events yet, i will create a dummy event and settle it and see what happens

(btw, im not sure what you mean in post #488)

neverstop 09-10-2010 12:16 AM

ugh so now i just created a dummy event and when i bet on it my credits were subtracted, maybe i am going crazy.

neverstop 09-10-2010 12:22 AM

OK I am almost positive my credits werent being subtracted earlier, I wouldnt have made the thread. But, everything seems to be working now, I guess I will have to report back if it happens to me again. Thanks for the prompt reply dartho

dartho 09-10-2010 12:42 AM

Glad it's all working - what ever the reason

neverstop 09-12-2010 06:31 PM

Suggestion for future version:

When viewing a gthread that you have already placed a bet, maybe have somewhere you can see what you have bet on (and how much)? Maybe how like in a vb poll it italicizes the option you voted for?

again, this mod is fantastic

Selene 09-12-2010 06:43 PM

How can I add a money or a small dollar gif , an image next to where it says vCASH: amount in the postbit.

I want to add a little money currency gif.

Can someone tell me which template to edit and which part exactly to place the image.

dartho 09-12-2010 09:30 PM

You need to edit the vBookie: Add Cash to Postbit plugin and place your image code immediately after <dd>

Selene 09-12-2010 11:29 PM

dartho one thing I dont like is that when I have to make new betting events, I have to give the odd in fractions, can I now give it in decimals format like 1.5 or 0.5 instead of doing 4/2 1/2 etc etc.

mjp1111 09-15-2010 01:20 AM

Hi, would it be possible to add a feature which allows regular users to post betting events? The winnings would come from their personal points (they would need to choose a maximum loss limit from their points and have those points "locked up" until the event is over).

dartho 09-15-2010 03:48 AM

@Selene - I'll look into that at some time
@mjp111 - Unlikely to implement. I have in the past changed my install so that funds come from personal points, but did not look into restricting bets - I ultimately allow 'Book Makers' to go negative. I could dig up instructions on how to do this.

Selene 09-15-2010 05:35 AM

dartho on main page of /vbookie.php

I have one bookie event under "item" column.

Thing is one of my mods deleted and messed that thread up. Now when I click on that thread event it gives URL error.

How can I get rid of that thread.

http://fastuploader.com/images/sss.jpg

Check that barca thread, basically that thread is giving invalid URL. gives me "http://*******.com/forums/showthread.php?t=".

Cannot get rid of it!

Selene 09-15-2010 05:40 AM

I would request all other members to donate a few dollars to the coder. If we all chip in a little bit we can at least appreciate the free time he is putting in for us. It will also encourage him to make it better. I just donated a little bit.

Thanks for a good hack and a lovely support.

dartho 09-15-2010 06:52 AM

Selene, thanks for the donation - it's unneccesary, but always appreciated.

The event should be deleted when the thread is deleted - not sure how it got orphaned? To remove, you will need to manually edit your database to remove that item. Do you have access to phpMyAdmin? If so, look in the vbookie_items table for item_id 3 and delete that row.

neverstop 09-15-2010 06:58 AM

Is there anyway to add an event to an existing thread?

dartho 09-15-2010 07:33 AM

not built in, but I should add that sometime. If you really need to add an event to an existing thread, you can manually craft the URL to do so.

Take note of the threadid, and then head to the URL "vbookie.php?t=nn&do=newevent" where nn is the thread ID, you should then be able to add a book to the thread.

neverstop 09-15-2010 02:20 PM

cool, thanks

neverstop 09-17-2010 05:25 PM

Hi dartho,

Have you considered allowing more than one event per thread? We take our lines (aka spreads) from pro handicappers so when the line (spread) moves we have to create a new thread/event. Currently we are adding games in blocks (see pic) because it was such a pain to create a new thread for each game.

On the surface it seems like it shouldnt be too difficult to implement, would you consider adding a feature such as this?

Cheers

dartho 09-17-2010 10:15 PM

when teh spread moves, simply edit the original. Bets are paid out at the odds that were in place when they were laid

neverstop 09-20-2010 12:02 AM

Hi Dartho,

Editing wont work for me, here is why. As you can see in this pic the "odds" on our bets are all 1:1. The "spread" is the number you see after the team name (ie Kansas City Chiefs +1). So when the spread changes, the odds dont. It is easy enough for us to just close the betting and make a new event with the new spread. But then we start having many many threads and it can get confusing.

We would also like to start offering books for the Money Line (the traditional odds based betting) and the Over/Under. However if we make one event with the spread, money line, and ovber/under we run into issues when there are pushes on the spread and over/under. Looking at this pic:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/09/10.png

If Indianapolis wins the game by exactly 5 points, it is a push. But there is no way for us to push that bet while paying out the winners on the Money line and over/under. I hope that makes sense.

Being able to have multiple events per thread would basically solve all of my issues. If you are willing to add this feature I would love to send a donation your way.

dartho 09-20-2010 12:31 AM

So ultimately you'd want to be able to close 'outcomes', and add new ones? I guess this wouldn't help a push unless you could also abandon individual outcomes also - would you better off having spreads with part points, ie. "New York Giants +5.5" then there would be no refunds to worry about?

I'll have a look, but don't hold your breath...

neverstop 09-20-2010 12:58 AM

Most games do in fact have part points (+5.5 etc) and there is no chance of a push on those games. We take our lines from professional handicappers (www.pinnaclesports.com for the most part), our forum is gambling related and our users take their gambling very seriously, even if it is just for imaginary internet points. So we monitor the lines closely and try to keep them in line with the pros. When the pro handicappers have a "full point" spread our users want to bet on it. I have thought about adding half points to the full number spreads but it will not fly with my users. (Tangent: this hack is extremely popular with my members, we all love it.) I started out just adding a few games and within a week of having it installed my users were requesting money lines, over unders, parlays, college football, etc.

I have thought about the logic of how to solve my issues for several hours and it always comes back to having multiple events per thread. On the surface it seems like it would be relatively easy to make that work, but I must admit I am not a coder and it seems like it is probably harder than I imagine. I can live with just having multiple threads for my needs, but they add up fast. There are 15 NFL games a week, x 3 events per game (Spread, money line, over/under). So just doing the NFL that makes 45 threads. We do about 10 NCAA football games a week so that i s30 more. We have had requests for Champions league soccer and baseball. The NHL starts in a month, as does the NBA and college basketball is not far behind that. That's gonna be a lot of threads.

I'm getting this error when trying to view bookie statistics, and so are other users:

I've got a problem with two vBookie events. After the games finished, I came back to "settle the bets", but that option was gone. There are winners that deserve their points, but I can't do anything about it. Is there anyway to "unsettle" the bets so that I can fix the problem. Basically, the bets were settled with no winner chosen.

Sorry - books can't be unsettled - you will need to manually calculate retruns and manually give cash to your users.

neverstop 09-26-2010 06:36 PM

Im having a problem settling bets.

It seems that when a certain admin of mine settles bets, he does not get paid on the outcomes. This only happens when this certain admin settles bets, and only h is payouts are affected. Can you think of any reason why this would happen?

dartho 09-26-2010 10:10 PM

Does it say he has been paid and give you the payout figure?

neverstop 09-26-2010 10:25 PM

yup he won multiple wagers on the book but did not receive the credits for the wins. It seems everyone else received what they were due. He is listed on the results page as being a winner.

We have been trying to trouble shoot it and it might only happen on events that he has created

dartho 09-26-2010 10:37 PM

I would guess a credits integration issue as I can;t think of any reason why vBookie would do this itself - are you using vbcredits version of integration, or the vbookies?

neverstop 09-26-2010 10:43 PM

I am using vbcredits. Im not sure what you mean about integration. I have it set in the admincp section of vbookie to use vbcredits but I am not using any of the vbcredits addon things they have for vbookie.

dartho 09-26-2010 11:24 PM

Maybe it's karma for removing credits/copyright from a free addon?

neverstop 09-26-2010 11:38 PM

busted i guess. i didnt read your terms obv. As you can see on my site I always keep copyrights (or buy branding free) but I have a reason (not an excuse) for removing them on vbookie. Im sure you wont care, but I removed it as I have a forum competing with me that basically rips all my ideas. Theyre a gambling forum too and this was such a success I wanted the competitive advantage. I had always planned on putting the credits back but forgot. Sorry bro.
