If anyone can confirm a true link is established for existing members and not just the ability to log in, then I will remove this mod right now (despite having over a hundred users who have signed up via facebook) and start from scratch.

The only issue I am having is the Quick Reply issue where I keep getting a 'minimum character' issue. I've taken off the SHOWTHREAD edits until someone can help me with a fix.

As for the 'True Connection', anytime a member starts a thread they get the option to feed it onto facebook so everything seems to be working fine in that aspect. I also get notifcations on facebook if someone PM's me too.

x YNWA x 03-26-2009 12:03 PM

Anyone know how to fix my problem or how to uninstall this??

smnet 03-26-2009 02:29 PM

Righto.... based on feedback I undid all the edits, removed the files and uninstalled the product. (bummer, cos over 100 facebook registrants who'll have to re-register)

Re-installed again from scratch and happy to report this is now working. I'm going to look into providing:-
  • Wall post when user posts a blog
  • Wall post when user comments on a blog
  • Notification when someone makes a profile comment
  • Notification when someone comments on one of your blogs
  • Ability to provide *per user* options for enable / disable notifications and feeds

Does anyone else have any other suggestions for improvement of this mod?

EDIT: I managed to restore access to all 100+ FB users by reconstructing the fbuser table - this was easy by inspecting FB proxy email addresses on the accounts for their FB ID :)

That would be a need for me too!

On my side - and as I read in the vb37-fbconnect-thread - switching off the wysiwyg-editor-mode did the trick. Unfortunately only a workaround.

LVLifestyle 03-27-2009 05:23 AM

i've installed this. I love it. thanks!

Mr.samy 03-27-2009 10:52 AM

i have problem when [textdirection] in language setting is rtl not work but when i change it to ltr work perfect

hambil 03-27-2009 11:55 AM

I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong on a couple issues (fantastic mod btw):

1) The mapped fields aren't filling in.
2) Some people get the 'email linked to facebook' message when they click on edit their email, other don't, and I'm not sure why.
3) Creating or replying to a thread sends a message to my wall, but all I can do is turn it on or off globally, I can't find where I can set it to ask me every time.

utahraves 03-27-2009 08:00 PM

Sorry if this has been posted before, but 33 pages are hard to read th rough.

Everything with my plugin works perfectly...
however...

On Facebook... it says "View thread" and also says which thread I created and is supposed to link to that.

It links to the forum, not the thread.

For some strange reason it allows you to log in using IE7, however when you click on the "connect" box with firefox, no pop up is displayed?!

hambil 03-29-2009 08:09 PM

Last reply from the coder in this thread was 15 days ago... anyone know what's going on? I hope all is well.

JohorBahru 03-30-2009 02:15 PM

Hi,

1. could i install this mod to 3.7.5?

2. could i set "Publish this story to your Facebook profile" enable by default? So it won't prompt every time.

3. could this mod use in quick reply?

4. could normal forum member who already associate their account with facebook connect publish the story to their Facebook profile without login with facebook connect?

Hope anyone could clear my doubt, thank you :)

Spaz21 03-30-2009 08:02 PM

this may have been answered already.. but theres a ton to read through in these posts... can this addon post threads in a specific forum to a facebook group? our situation is that we run a local car club... and it would be nice if we could have threads from say our Events forum automatically post to our facebook group... can this addon do this? or can this even be done?

WxP 03-31-2009 12:48 AM

Newer version is much better Facebook integration than previous version.

Nice job!

I personally don't use Facebook so it's a tough mod to test. I set up an account just to use this. One problem I have is that there are far more options to set up an app than are listed in these instructions. It would be nice if every option is covered.

Yea I hope someone chimes in on this. The included instructions don't connect to whats under the app settings on facebook.

Benj 03-31-2009 04:57 PM

i think it would be cool to have a feature that notifies you when a member is quoted.... just a thought ...

cheers

Crank! 03-31-2009 07:54 PM

I guess I should have read all 34 pages before installing, but I didnt

Anyway, this is the problem I encountered. First of all I only did the required steps. None of the optional edits were done.

I get to the login page and click on the blue banner for facebook connect and it gives me the popup window and I also click there right, well after that is all done it goes back to the login page and says my username and password are incorrect. It says I should use the forgot password form to retrive the password.

Is there a solution for this? What did I not do correctly:

Here is C/P of message (it is in Spanish)

Has introducido un nombre de usuario o contrase?a no v?lido. Por favor presiona regresar, introduce los datos correctos e intenta de nuevo. No olvides que son distintas may?sculas y min?sculas. ?Olvidaste tu contrase?a? Puedes dar clic aqu?.

I used the recommended ones in the install

StructuralNet 03-31-2009 10:45 PM

Thats what I have been trying to do, but I don't see everything matching up:

Quote:

* Set the Callback URL to your vBulletin url (example: http://www.siteurl.com/forum/)
* Go to the Canvas tab and set the Canvas Page URL (to whatever you want)
* Set the Render Method to IFrame under the Canvas Settings
* Click on the Connect tab and set the Base Domain to your domain (siteurl.com) without the http or www.
When I look through the Developer settings, I don't see a dedicated "callback URL", I see all these different tabs with Callback urls but for such items as the authorize callbacks, canvas callback, etc...

duditas 04-01-2009 01:58 AM

Many thanks for this great job :)

kairev 04-02-2009 12:17 AM

Fantastic mod, thank you very much.

One issue I have...when I post a new thread I get this error:

Application response error

Invalid template bundle id specified: 64114052401. You can see this because you are one of the developers of the app.

this just started happening across the board - Im sure it is something to do with something facebook has changed because I am getting the same error on 2 boards I have it installed to

sdsvtdriver 04-02-2009 05:37 AM

I am also getting that error.

powerful_rogue 04-03-2009 02:13 PM

Has anyone worked out a fix regarding the "your message is too short" - Ive seen people mention this stops if you turn off the WYSIWYG editor, however thats extremely popular on our site.

utahraves 04-03-2009 04:38 PM

For people receiving the templates bundle id, try removing the news feed templates and then rebuilding them in the admincp.

primetimefans 04-03-2009 04:50 PM

I have a problem. I followed all the steps properly (I beleive) on my main page I can see the image for FB Connect but when I click on it nothing happens.

on the developers site, did you put the callback url on every section to your forum's page? I had the issue at first because the instructions weren't very clear regarding the callback url insertion. It has to go in EVERY place it asks for one.

i-Man 04-03-2009 05:01 PM

Hello

Is it possible to register automatically an user who connects with his Facebook account?

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Alex

primetimefans 04-03-2009 05:02 PM

I just checked and it was missing on a couple. So I added it to all of them and still the same result. The link when you hover it shows up as /index.html#

I had exactly the same problem but managed to solve it.

Is your site http://mysite.com or http://www.mysite.com ?

primetimefans 04-03-2009 06:48 PM

The URL I have listed in VB and Facebook is http://www.mysite.com/forums

(Ps: Man the owner of mysite.com gets a lot of free press :))

primetimefans 04-03-2009 07:16 PM

Im using a fresh install of VB3.8.2 (with the google adsense stuff built in)

powerful_rogue 04-03-2009 07:23 PM

ok, try going to http://mysite.com/forums and let me know if it works when you click on the facebook login icon.

primetimefans 04-03-2009 07:36 PM

No it shows the same link with index.php# except it doesnt have the www. part.

I can pm you the url if you like, (or just use my username .com/forums (ignore the homepage that was a test site)) to see if you can see anything that maybe causing it. Its really odd. I even tried to change all the URLS (on vb and facebook) to not include www. But that had no effect either.

wmlvb 04-03-2009 07:40 PM

I guess this is not useful for site that have a lot of private forums and custom user groups and require registration before posting?

primetimefans 04-03-2009 07:41 PM

Sure it would be. You can assign your 'facebook' users a usergroup that you can give certain permissions to.
