BTW - I have voted for you in the MoTM Poll :)

Thanks no problem :)

That's the only thing I can imagine.

Yes I think that's a possibilty !

You did uploaded the js files ?

maidos 02-19-2008 12:55 PM

i would guess different server os or configuration which makes the difference why it went fine for u and not mine

MotMann 02-19-2008 02:25 PM

There are a lot of W3C Org mistakes. Do you fix that?

BozzaJos 02-19-2008 02:34 PM

Hey VBDev!

Awesome work with this shoutbox man. I didn't know hacks/mods could be so good for vBulletin. You've really amazed me and my members.

Got a couple of things though. I was wondering if it could ever be possible to add the feature that a bot gives an announcement every time someone has made a new post or created a thread on the forums. This would create a bridge between the chatbox and forums which would be awesome. I know vBShout had it so it could be possible. I would only like to see it when it won't add extra server load though.

Another thing is the ability to have some words censored. So when someone says "shit" it gets replaced by "s***". I can't stop people from using some swearing words even though it's in the rules. Would be nice if they would be censored automatically.

Can't think of anything else that I would like to see. Keep up the good work my man! It's amazing...

Yes I think I'll certainly do that in an upcoming version.

About censored words, if you have had censored words in vBulletin system one then it shall be also active in the chatbox.

One of my users post a huge photo between img tags.
This ruin the whole forum lay-out
Is there a way to prevent this?
And what about posting an huge text-file, lets say 5 MB.?

I have tested it back, honnestly no problem found.

Command was fixed a bit in version 0.1.0 and was working well after that.

The only thing that could mess it is if you haven't followed correctly command install instructions.

I can't prevent those kind of things. Image are added through normal BBCODE system so if user can do it elsewhere on the forum they will be able there too.

Bilderback 02-19-2008 07:34 PM

excellent- this is my second update this week but well worth it
since everything seems to be working completely now.
Thank you.

One question:
Is there any way to add a confirmation to the delete command?
The delete post and delete all posts are so closely spaced in the menu
that a browser burp may mistakingly delete all the users post when only a single post deletion was intended.
I removed the table row from the command as a temporary measure to avoid mods from mouse slipping.

lordtopcat 02-19-2008 07:54 PM

Hi vBDev,

Great update man! Awesome. The colors are working great now, thanks :)

Feature/Command Suggestion: Sticky Shouts. I know there is the announcement, but sometimes I would like to get more important messages over the shoutbox. So my suggestion is a Sticky command. When used, the message that was used displays normally as every other shout, but it stays at the top of the shoutbox, and all messages sent after that go under it. This is something that would really benefit me, and others.

Cheers
LTC

I am planning on adding a confirm message to avoid mistakes :)

And how would shouts be unstickied ?

lordtopcat 02-19-2008 08:10 PM

Maybe do it like the Ban and ignore mods....You can select a shout to be stickied within that dropdown menu, and then unsticky it the same way?

lordtopcat 02-19-2008 08:17 PM

Something like this:

Just found another little problem..

I have the maximum font set to 4. But, if someone manually types in the font size, they can set it to whatever size they want.

Is there something you can add to say if it goes over xx it gets reset to the maximum number? Like if a user entered 7, and my max number is 4, it would be reset to 4?

Cheers
LTC

Saint_ago 02-19-2008 08:21 PM

The first message bug is still there.

Note.: The message set on admincp doesn't show in message box when the bug is present

I know, the option is just here to hide it from the select.

It was a bit complicated to check also size as I don't modify the way bbcode are handled in vBulletin so I can't really change that you know.

Yes that's a good idea.

But I must say that if automatic posts removal is active, stickied posts would be removed as command are independant from that task.

Are you sure you don't have a problem of install as it is working very well on all forums I know.

Yes.. im shure. On Safari, the Pulldownbox dont close ;)

As far as I know it shall be working with the module. Have you tried to work it around with stangger5 the author of the module ? He's a very motivated guy and always try to help people out.

As stated, I don't want to use the module. I was primarily using it as a test to see if it worked comparatively with the page variable option. I am frustrated now, as I attempted to revert to the previous version and it also now displays the perpetual "Loading ..." message. I can offer a $20 donation if you can get this working for me as a page variable on the vBa page, otherwise I will likely be forced to abandon this mod in favor of another. I don't want to do this, of course, as this mod offers the best features.

I have changed the width of the header so that it matches up with the width of the center part so it looks okay. However, prior to installing the chat box, our center area had a width of 800, its now up to 1000. We would like it back to 800 if possible!!

I am not sure that with the actual system it could be possible to make it, I think I have to add the possibility, in the chats retrieval command code, to add sql order by conditions to the query.

So you'll have to wait till a new release :)

This has already been reported I am trying to figure out what's the bug as this one is really vicious.

The only thing i see is the input field width, that's all that could make it behave like it does on your forum.

Kaycee123 02-20-2008 04:01 AM

Well, I'll see if I can figure it out somehow! By the way, thanks for fixing the color selection thing!

Basically, the only thing that will be needed is to add a field in the mgc_cb_evo_chat table called sticky.

Then the menu would, through ajax, set this field to 0 or 1.

And in the chats retrieval query there would be an order clause : ORDER BY sticky DESC,date DESC :)

I'll do this as soon as possible by the way.

VBDev 02-20-2008 05:04 AM

I was wondering if users would be interested in a /ip command that would open a popup to ther user showing him it's actual ip ?

atlambros83 02-20-2008 05:38 AM

Is there a way to change the smiley retrieval so that it retrieves the smilies by their order number? I have alot of smilies installed on my forums and retrieving them randomly or by date added really puts a weird group of smilies in the chatbox selection. It would be great if it displayed them by order number that way the admin could have a little more say in what smilies are displayed.

I currently have smiley selection turned off on my forums because of this. I'm sure my users would love to have the option of having smilies though.

Thanks.

VBDev 02-20-2008 06:11 AM

I'll note that and see what I can do :)
