I hate to bother you. but when I go to edit an entry in LDM. I get this:

"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing or mismatched.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error."

Have you edited any of the LDM templates, e.g. with an earlier version?

The error message is being generated by the latest version of vbulletin, as part of the CSRF security checks. All templates are now supposed to include a security token to prove that they came from the site itself. As far as I know, the latest version of LDM is consistent in using these tokens.

No i did not edit any of the templates. i did the RC1, and beyond regular VB upgrades till it came out as 3.7 but before i did teh 3.7 version (still in RC versions) I did the 2.2.9 RC-1 of your version.

Then went after i see it said upgraded (your Mod) i did a upgrade today, thats when it started to do that, then all of a sudden (not adding any extras from your extra folder yet) suddenly it stated that the LDM was shut down by the board administration.

So as soon as I seen that happen (owning a server) I went and pulled a prior backup of the whole site to restore the LDM. so my members could use it.

I do not know aht happened. I remember another time long ago in the 3.6.x version you came over and said to (I think) delete all the plug-ins for LDM, and re install them. (I Think) cause I believe you mentioned that it would interfear with the newest version you did.

So I am stuck. I want to have this and get it upgraded so what when you are out or RC versions I can get the latest going. but worried that something may go wrong.

Any suguestions??

This may sound crazy, but is there anyway to find out how fast someone is downloading a file? Perhaps LDLM can detect the speed in which the files are being downloaded?

I don't think this is possible inside LDM - it's straightforward enough to calculate the time difference between when LDM itself starts to pass the file to the use and when it has finished its own work, but this does not tell you anything about other parts of the transmission process. I imagine that an accurate calculation would have to be done at the user end, e.g. with javascript, but that will also fail if the user has another download manager in place.

Between 2.2.7 and 2.2.9, I changed the templates used for displaying the admin allowances page, so I wonder if you have modified any of the LDM template, e.g. link_admin

I'm not sure I understand your question - the wimpy player plays mp3s through the jukebox and the wimpy button plays them 'inline' in the linkbit. So the button is supposed to over-ride the jukebox for mp3s. The jukebox should still work for other filetypes.

From what I understand when you install you can use a plugin to get a link in the navbar. This works for the default theme but not a custom. What do I put in the navbar to make a link to the links page?

There's an explanation of how to include LDM in the navbar at http://www.eirma.org/wikis/index.php/Installing_LDM. If you use the manual approach, you have to apply the change in all the styles (or set the styles up as child styles).

The option to 'auto-integrate' onto the navbar was included with the latest release (2.2.9 RC2 and onwards). Installation adds two plugins called "Links and Download Manager: Add LDM to VB navbar" and "Links and Download Manager: Add LDM Quick Search to VB navbar". These are inactive by default.

If you make one/both active (either vb/admincp/products and plugins or LDM/admin/LDM plugins), the links should get included in the navbar in any style, provided the navbar template still includes $template_hook[navbar_buttons_left] (for the main ldm link) and $template_hook[navbar_search_menu] for the quick search.

Let me know if there are problems with this - it's quite possible I've made a mistake somewhere.

Just a question. To increase the size allowed for uploads i take it its in the php.ini file? Where exactly is that? Thanks...

There are two settings in php.ini that set the overall limits on the size of uploads:

* upload_max_filesize
* post_max_size

It is important that post_max_size has the same value, or a larger value, as upload_max_filesize.

Within these limits, more restrictive settings can be applied on a per-filetype basis (vBulletin->admincp->attachments->attachment manager). These apply to all usergroups except for admins, who are always allowed to go up to the php.ini limits.

I've upgraded vBulletin to 3.7.0. We had LDM 2.2.7. LDM started giving error like:
'Unexpected critical failure
Critical Error: Links and Downloads Manager v.2.2.7 requires VBulletin version 3.5/3.6'

So I downloaded Version 2.2.9 RC2 and installed. Now I'm getting new erroe:

"Critical error: different versions of software, templates, phrases and database.
Software: 2.2.9 database: 2.2.7
Cannot continue - ask administrator to correct."

Please help!!

Version 2.2.7 does not work with vb 3.7, so that's why you got the first error.

I think you've uploaded the 2.2.9 php code without installing the LDM product xml file, so the database still thinks it's at version 2.2.7. Just go to the vb/admincp/plugins and products/manage products. Use add/import product to reinstall the LDM product xml, and be sure to check the "allow overwrite" box.

I've installed Version: 2.2.9-RC2. Everything is fine but I do not wish to display list of Moderator Names in the Category Description. Is there a way to disable that? I can't find the option to disable that. Please advice.

A meant a vb cron, but a system cron will be very welcome as well.

The feature to show this list of moderators in the category description was requested/added in this version and you are correct - I forgot to provide the option to disable it. It is a straightforward change to the code, so I will add the option as soon as possible. In the meatime, you can remove this list by editing the links_catbit_extras template (vb/admincp/styles and templates). The template contains this sequence of lines:

Just delete those lines.

Bear in mind that you have made this edit, because you will need to revert the template in future to take advantage of any changes that are offered in subsequent releases.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to go ahead and install this. Are there major issues to be aware of? I'm a newbie to all this so...

This has been developed/supported for over four years, and, as far as I know, there have been no serious problems (touch wood!) during that time. If you want to take full advantage of its flexibility, there's a certain amount of learning required, but within reason, I will help sort out any difficulties you have at the start. There are a number of sites using this addon to handle large numbers of downloads; others which provide a small library of files.

After reading your instructions in the zip, I think I'll give it a go. BTW, those are the best written and easiest to understand set of instructions I've read in any products here. VGJ!

Different request and bug:

1) When using autocreate thread....
is it possible to have it post the associated image at a controlled size? (maybe there is a setting...but I couldn't find it :()

eg:
- if I upload a wallpaper to LDM and autocreate, it posts the image full size in the created thread.

This kinda defeats the purpose of thumbnails, and previews and downloading etc in LDM for images or things where the image matters. And also it breaks the size width restrictrions I have set for the forums.

so I would love if I could set the size of the image that gets posted in the autocreated thread. (maybe associate it with the enlarged thumbnail image size setting LDM? ie: link_imagemagsize )


2) BUG?
Flash Uploader with progress meter is awesome! and looks great...
I just can't get it to work. heh :(

ie: it looks like its working... but no matter what file I upload it ends in: "File rejected by server" error pop. (and red bar)

If I turn off the flash uploader plugins (disable them in plugin manager) ... uploads work fine again.

Yes, I'd found this bug and I have the fix ready. It's releated to the new CSRF mechanisms in vBulletin. All you need to do is edit local_links_ajax.php (main forum directory)

That part of vbulletin is looking for syntax errors in templates. I imagine you edited the forumhome template? Check what you've done.

This isn't easy for me to fix without rewriting the interface between LDM and vb. The autocreator simply drops an img bbcode into the post, and that does not have a mechanism for resizing.

However, I tried the Image Resizer hack - see https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=1493771 - and this works fine

I have a problem with my favourites. I can add favourites but I can not withdraw. can you help me if you like. why i can't remove my favorites ?

You probably don't remember me, but I have been a long time user of this mod and probably over a year ago now I asked you if it would be possible to make LDM automatically delete files that had been uploaded after a number of days from a category of my choosing. well since then I have fallen out of love with what my site is about and lost interest in it, but I have now got a renewed vigor for it all again and will be upgrading everything and hopefully move my site forward.

Anyway, that my little story, and obviously I am wondering if you did ever work out how to do it or is it something you would consider looking into again?
