It's under Settings in your Living Avatars Admin Panel. The very first box on the page is called Forum Integration with two buttons that say Add Forum Link and Remove Forum Link.

I really like this mod and want to install it on my vb 3.5.x board. I tried to perform the install but I get this database message and wondering if and how I can get this working on my vb 3.5.x site. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HTML Code:

I don't think this mod was designed to work on a version below 3.6.

bada_bing 04-22-2008 01:16 PM

Yes but like most mods they can be crafted to work and I was looking for assistance in trying to get this working with an example of the database error.

Help

You've deleted your index.php page somehow.

bada_bing 04-27-2008 02:32 AM

I could of swore there was a post reply by the author of this mod saying that they would download version 3.5 of vb and see if they can get this working on that version and now I dont see that post?

KMDPEPSI 04-28-2008 03:36 AM

wow love it, It took only 5 mins to install the thing and integrate it with vbcredits. great mod

Ky Kiske 05-07-2008 03:32 PM

Well this work on 3.7?

Robru 05-07-2008 04:34 PM

Yes! it's works awsome in vB 3.7.0 :)

Ky Kiske 05-07-2008 04:51 PM

Do you have it on your site?

Robru 05-07-2008 05:04 PM

Yes, here :)

Ky Kiske 05-07-2008 05:19 PM

Sweet stuff. Hamsters everywhere was alil scary but still sweet nonetheless.

Blackhat 05-12-2008 02:12 PM

why not use png instead of gif, gets better edges then

It uses both. When you construct an avatar pack, you have to make each image in both versions for browsers that don't support PNGs.

PGAmerica 05-17-2008 09:16 PM

I installed this in my 3.7 and it works fine, but the page that displays when a user creates an avatar does not look anything like my site at all.

How do I make this fit within the theme of my site?

Digital Jedi 05-17-2008 11:29 PM

There are CSS controls in the Living Avatar Admin CP that let you change the colors and font styles.

PGAmerica 05-18-2008 02:49 PM

But that does not make it look like it is part of my site. What about all the navigation and header logos that are part of my forums? I need this to look like it is a natural part of my site, not just the colors and fonts.

Digital Jedi 05-18-2008 07:22 PM

LA doesn't do that inherently. The best you can do is add the appropriate font colors and styles.

You can also do what I did for my forum. I created a separate vB page with the header and footer, and put the LA pages inside a resizable iframe. It's not terribly difficult to learn, but it will require a little bit of effort on your part to make look the way you want. Learning how to make your own pages is a useful thing to know anyway for other projects you'll want to incorporate down the road.

Here's the two tutorials:

How to create your own vBulletin-powered page! (uses vB templates)
Iframe SSI script II

Here's what an example of how I did it. Log in using test as both a username and password:

PGAmerica 05-19-2008 02:50 PM

Thanks for the help. It is a bummer though that a mod that claims to be compatible with vbulletin does not offer a way to make a mandatory page that all users must use actually look like it is part of the forum.

This was very good advise. Those two pages were the perfect solution. I also had to modify to the "living_avatars/includes/functions.php" file to make it run a bit smoother. For example, I no longer needed the "Return to Forum" link, so I removed it. And because it was in an inline frame, I added "target="_top" to some of the links. And anything in the LA code that referred to index.hp, I changed to my LivingAvatars_vb.php file.

If anybody else needs help in this area, send me a pm and I will help you.

Digital Jedi 05-20-2008 04:42 PM

Yeah, I've been meaning to make the same changes to mine, just haven't gotten around to it yet And so far, only one of our members has used the LA, so I figured I could get to some other things first (going to do some avatar packs once I get my Wacom Tablet). I'm glad it worked out for you though.

I've always presumed that since most mods use the forum header and footer, that there must be a particular issue with this mod that subduck decided to leave that out. Maybe an issue with custom headers and footers perhaps.

PGAmerica 05-20-2008 05:48 PM

Well, if you ever need help doing it, just send me a pm

akoj 05-24-2008 07:38 PM

I am using this on 3.7 and it is working great with the vbcredits add on. I would like to force my users to only use this as an avatar but when I disable the custom avatar upload option the LA's disappear. Any idea's on how I can work around this?

akoj 05-30-2008 09:37 PM

This is not allowing me to mass update all items in a pack. I can do them individually but it is a pita. Any idea's?

Perform Action with Selected Items

PoetJA-1975 07-09-2008 03:17 AM

Works marvelously on 3.7.2 -- I even embedded the livingavatars/index.php into a vBadvanced page so Members won't have to leave the Forum to dress their avatar!

Great mod - Thanx again for the sharing SUDBUCK ;)

Jacquii.

subduck 07-21-2008 05:22 PM

I have asked this same question on the living avatars forum, but they choose to not reply. In addition, if you comment on their lack of reply, be prepared to be screamed at by the other users.

Robru 08-11-2008 06:29 PM

Did you download v1.1.5 from here?
