Good to see you back! Can you re-package this as a 3.6 hack and start a new thread? Plan to add any more features to this hack?

I'm not sure if that's allowed, but i will if no moderators have a problem with it. Also, i have yet to come by any features that i feel are good enough to add. Any ideas?

Admins can only edit the thread fields in a post. I would like the users to be allowed to edit the fields once they have been entered.

What if i make it so that there's a separate page for editing extra fields? A page separate from the edit thread/edit post page. Making it so that you can do so in the "edit post" page wouldn't be logical, since editing the post only edits that post in particular and doesn't effect the thread. Hmmm..

How about using Ajax? The user would just have to double click on the fields and edit them. See if you can do it the same way as editing a thread title.

taydu 02-06-2007 03:43 AM

extra threadfield in new reply, it's possible to have extra threadfield in new reply too?

Welcome back, Gio!

I don't know if these are new ideas or not, but here a couple of things I'd like to do with threadfields (either lite or premium):

1) Support for a Date field that includes the display of the calendar date picker
2) support for a Time fields that has validation and perhaps a cool time picker
3) Ability to add a field but have it not display on the ForumDisplay
4) Add a field that is only accessable by certain usergroups
5) I presume this is already there: ability to edit any of the thread fields.

Could your let me know that status of these potential features?

Thanks!
Barry

Hi, how do you handle textareas? Like one item per line?

1) & 2: So, images representing the date and time?
3) I believe that's already an option in the Light version. If not, it is in the premium.
4) Available in premium
5) Already exists

Hope that helps.

Textareas are not supported at the moment.

Not at the moment, but that would be a totally different script.

I never really use ajax, but i may look into this.

For Date fields I'd want to see a calendar image that brought up a calendar popup like on many website. Times could be a drop-down box preloaded with half hour time increments.

Glad to hear the other features already exist!

Thanks!

Well, for the time field, drop down boxes already exist to do this ;)

Lionel 02-14-2007 10:28 AM

That's really too bad for textarea. If at least you could include it in premium version.....

Another important question, how do you handle printhread.php? do the extra fields find their way in there too? I had that problem with Gars and extra fields not being printed.

KPalicz 02-14-2007 03:11 PM

I agree on the date suggestion. If not anything fancy like a calendar, perhaps at least a check that it is in a proper date format (which date format is selected in the admin panel).

Also I'd also like to see an option to automatically make links clickable.

Gio~Logist 02-18-2007 05:34 PM

Added. This is now available in the premium version ;)

medienleben 02-21-2007 09:47 AM

hi, is it please possible to add a new field type? a file field? thx

Jesakos 02-25-2007 05:12 PM

thnx very usefull ;)

Domenico 03-01-2007 11:54 AM

Thanks for this hack!

I'm using it but in the post all the extra fields/text appear after each other but I want to show them under each other.

Example
Field1:text Field2:text Field3:text

I want them to appear like this
Field1:text
Field2:text
Field3:text

Am I missing something? Thanks for your help.

fishhub 03-01-2007 03:56 PM

Great Mod! I like it. But how do I do the following :

- threadfields displayed onto forum page would have all threadfields in separate rows and Would prefer them to be into 2 columns,

-any means to edit threafields under advance edit?

TIA.

Would like to see edit thread applies with edit post. So that normal users can edit any mistakes or amendments to their post. :)

dbirosel 03-01-2007 06:39 PM

This is not going to work for 3.6 if i get the premium would it?

0ptima 03-02-2007 11:27 PM

This work on 3.6.4 and should work on 3.6.5

craig5320 03-22-2007 03:20 PM

Does anybody know how I can globalize the $extrafields variable, so I can use it in any template. I'm using the VBAdvanced homepage and want the fields to appear in those posts on the frontpage which they're currently not doing, if anyone can help. Thanks!

davidecd 03-31-2007 02:45 PM

Is there a simple way to add the values entered by the user to the thread title?

I want my titles to look like : "Some Title - ExtraThreadField 1 - Extra ThreadField2", leaving the field blank if the user didn't enter anything.

bchertov 04-01-2007 04:01 PM

Hey Gio,

I'm getting ready to install this, finally! You asked a while ago about new features, so here's some more requests.

1) Any date field should include a popup calendar when editing that field (I may have already suggested this)

2) How about a Postfields version (another hack), where user defined fields could be tracked on a Post level? I know you've seen many questions on this thread from people who were trying to do this, not realizing this was a thread level hack. But a Post level hack would be great, too!!

TMS_Hon 04-09-2007 05:01 AM

Hi Has anyone tried and applied the same for Edit

LouiseDM 04-09-2007 05:37 PM

Hi
thank you for this product.

You need to be able to edit the thread in order to edit the extra fields.
Most of the time this privilege is only available to mods and admins.

What would be nice is to use AJAX and allow the user to double click on the extra field to edit it.

TMS_Hon 04-12-2007 07:36 AM

i installed it and works fine but wonder how to include new fields in search also... the default search skips them :(

davidecd 04-12-2007 01:46 PM

We hacked it so that the default search includes the extra fields.

If you're using FullText search, you need to add the extra fields to the full text index in MySql. Then change 6 lines or so in search.php so that the default search query includes your extra fields and you're good to go.

Installed premium version but the edit functionality for extra fields doesn't seem to work. Anybody got this working on the premium?

LouiseDM 04-12-2007 11:37 PM

Well thats what ive been on about but muppet there said

i am an admin when you try and edit the post you cannot change the fields again, abit of a pain when you put in the wrong option and wanna go back and change it.

You need to edit the thread, not the post.

LouiseDM 04-15-2007 03:12 PM

But the user should be able to edit his own mistake not have an admin or mod do it for them

TMS_Hon 04-18-2007 10:16 AM

thanks for the reply david
i did try but could not get it working can you mention the steps and where all the editing needs to be done to include extra fields in the search.
I have 4 extra fields and would like to implement the non-FullText method

pxd 04-28-2007 07:34 PM

I'm sorry for not being able to find the answer through this long thread.

Once a new thread is saved, the edit page does not have the extra fields on it, does that mean that once submitted, these extra fields are not available for modification? Or am I missing something?

EDIT: I think I've got my answer here. Sad though.
