Okey first of all i must say this mod ROX!!

To have an pager system on your own forum instead of loggin on your annoying msn/icq all the time is a really neat function.. So i have clicked installed :)

But i have some problems... :(

If you have two IE windows up at the same time, and reload one of them, you get instructions debug error message.. and you have to close all IE windows..

Firefox works, but not IE.

I have tried to read thrue most of your replies here, but maybe i missed this part if it`S already got a solution for it.

Any clues on this matter?

quick question....is there an add on to read users pager messages like that of the pm's??

If you got two IE windows up at the same time, both with the pager buddylist page, OR just two same windows with a pager message on them?
Like you are in FORUMHOME, and you got a pager message, then you clicked Ctrl + N on your keyboard which opens a new window, then you get a debug error message?

I haven't created such a thing, and I don't know if there was any :ermm:

I got mine working its the damnest thing all I did was manually type in the code instead of copy paste into the modifyoptions and it started showing maybe before it was not picking up the paste or revert and I did not type in the whole thing just the first few lines and then pasted the rest and now its working..maybe it did not reconize the change at first heck if I know I am scratching my head but hey its working so I am not touching it..

But something I did realize and don't know if this will be helpful I had my very first IE crash yesterday I have never had it crash me..only thing different was normally I am already on my site when a page comes and the page pops up but yesterday I was just going to my site and had a page waiting on me trying to load up very first thing while the page was trying to load and it kept crashing on me I had to go into phpmyadmin and delete the page before I could get to my site..but 5 min later while on my site recieved another page and was fine so I had a friend test it with me and it would crash on me everytime if I entered the site with a page waiting..so maybe this is where the problem lies is there a option or could be made a option to not open pages in new window or popup to list you have a new one but not auto pop it up maybe play the sound and show it in the VB pager thing you have 1 new page with the lil sound but..not pop it up maybe this would stop the IE crashing..for those having the problem..made me wonder how many of my users had tried getting to my site but couldn't..because they had a page waiting and was on IE..anyway maybe nothing to this but did it everytime we tested if I entered site with a page waiting..so thought it might be helpful..

Actuall, if you tries to look at your forumhome in only one IE, and a user send you a message, and you get your message everytime you reload the page or go to another page right!?
Well, that was happening here. And that works.

But say i want to save one page, and open a link (on the first IE i have open) to a new window, then when i receve a message and go to one of the IE windows, i`ll get the message...
But i can`t then go into the other IE window and surf while the vb pager is open.
It would be nice if this had worked, let` s say you was looking for something and had to find the rest text/link etc to copy into the vbpager..

This dosen`t work.
Then IE closes all windows you have opened, even this one:(

EDIT: Now my IE crased, and one user (test user) can send message to me anyways, but then when i try to get on the page again, i receve the vbpager message, but the same time the IE crases again..... :(

Installed to my 'Live' forums a few weeks ago, and updated on the 9th. We use numerous other hacks like the Geek auto-linker, ecDownloads, ibPro and others so was almost expecting some incompatability.
None of it! Installed flawlessly and my mods and admin have suffered no (zero) problems at all, remembering they use a variety of browsers (Firefox at home and anything from IE4 to IE7b at work)
First class hack, thankyou, the guys thinks it is the canine undercarriage....

I have not been able to send a message using Firefox, its as if the character limit is set to 0. I have checked this with my admin account also and still have the sam issue.

Also the page popup windows also grab my side blocks therefore makes it look a right mess...If you want a test account please let me know and i will pm you :)

Aslo still says xx amount pager messages in the navbar although they been deleted :(

Ref the IE problem
I thought it was a virus, it didnt affect me as I have IE7 but loads of users were contacting me going mad.

The problem is this:

The resolution is no good for us, however I fixed mine by recreating all my templates with AJAX selected to disable unsafe features.!

I display my shouts above the controls and have them in reverse order, can you set the scroll bar to allways scroll by default to show the newest post ?

This is how I would go about debugging my Hack (vB Pager)

1- I will make sure that my Forum's running at least vBulletin 3.5.0 or up.
2- I will make sure that I am using the latest stable browser (IE, FireForx, etc...)
3- I will make sure that all files are uploaded and I have imported the product, then check all the template edits.
4- I will look into the vB Pager Permissions under the Usergroup Manager for each usergroup that I want to give the permission to use vB Pager and set the desired permissions.
5- I will look into the vB Pager Options from the ADMINCP, and set all the desired options. (DO NOT FORGET TO SET YOUR FORUM DIR NAME WITH a forward-slash AT END AND START)
6- I will look into the vBulletin Options from the ADMINCP, and check the Forum URL (Site Name / URL / Contact Details) and make sure I got the correct url to my forum. (See the attached file)

7- If I still got a problem, I'll try the hack with the defualt vB Style (unmodified templates) just the pager hack template edits.

9- If you tried all the above and none help, then it's either I suck or you suck, hey just kidding, send me a PM with a user account to your forum and let me take a look at it :)

From your ADMINCP, vB Pager Options, change the width and height size!

What shout? are you talking about vBShoutbox?

hmm ... seems as if the width set in options isn't used at all?

I love this hack but it is causing crashes for me occasionaly. I believe it happens when someone sends a page to someone who is off line.... It happened with the other version too.

Has anyone else encountered this problem???

I recently tried to add the hack Vpager to my new forum (3.5.3) and can't seem to get it to work. All the files are on the ftp and in their correct place, but nothing is showing up in my admin controls to allow user group permissions. I was able to instal this hack successfully on one of my other 3.5.1 forums.

One thing I noticed though is that on the forum where everything works, I must go through a public-html folder to get to my forum folder. On my new forum, the ftp just has a forum folder. Maybe this is the problem??

Any help would be great.

This crashes me on IE every time someone sends me a message. Sorry for me it was a great idea but poorly executed. Unless you know a fix...?

Love this hack...

The server load has increased maybe threefold. Still barely within limits. Would love to see a dynamic shut off valve for when the load gets to a predefined limit...

Also, would love for this to morph into a IM system, it is so close, and I think that would be huge!!!!

For the Pager message list's page, you will need to edit the templates to change the width and height size, and it is the navbar template and pager_messagelist.

PM me an account to your forums with an admin access.

That option is already there, just enable it from the usergroup permissions.

If you are using more than one style, make sure that you upload the icon images to all of your style statusicon's folders.

you need to go to your Usergroup Manager and set the permissions there for all your usergroups
(i.e. Administrators, Super Moderators, Moderators)

ok now the problem that i have is that it says there is pages unread but when you go there, there isn't any there says No messages to display, also how do you make it so once you send a messge its pops up right away most ppl on my board say they don't get them for like 20 - 30 mins later if they get them at all? any suggestions on how to make this faster for me?

Have you set it so that its on manual refresh?
If so then they will only get the popup when they are activley browsing

where do i set the manual refresh i have entered like 10 seconds and all that in the options so should do that every 10 seconds but i think it is set on active browsing

This is a great hack, and my users have been enjoying it without too many problems for several weeks now! Great job!

I don't have a lot of resources on my server, so I have to be careful with things like this, but even with only 256M of RAM and ~30 users at a time (peak) everything seems to run ok.

I did however notice a gradual slowdown over the past few days. After having no luck with any mySQL settings (memory use is already well under control) I remembered to purge the deleted messages. That seems to have sped everything back up, though it could have been a coincidence.

Since I haven't had a chance to explore how this script works, I'm not even sure if deleting messages should really have an impact on server loads. Could anyone shed some light on this? I'm guessing the reason there are message limits in the usergroup settings isn't because a few text messages take up a lot of disk space.

If so, it may be useful to introduce an option where messages are purged automatically when read, and perhaps not saved to the sent items list. My users don't like having to delete their messages when they hit the cap, but if storing a lot of messages does nothing to performance I might as well just take the cap off ... no?

3rd option down in the admincp vbpager settings

Time period in seconds to refresh AJAX befor new received pager pops up.
A value of 0 disables the auto-check and only manual refresh will pop up the new received message.
