Great for many communities that this is ported/rewriten. In the meantime i've a few suggestions for Ushop. The first one is based on observation of the fun our members had with 'Titlewar', well known of the earlier versions.

The second one i like to see ported is the 'Gift' and with that members can give eachother an image that is displayed in the postbit(s). Now we were quite surprised to see that this gift addon whas very very popular on our board. It whas setup in a way members could upload a gift. This image whas displayed in a menu in the user cp after upload and choosable for the 'target' member.

Can I make several suggestions:-

Can everyone please stop asking for functionality before there is even an alpha. Obviously the aim is to put in all the old functionality (and probabally then some)
I think asking for features at this stage is a moot excercise.

Can someone (anyone... eg. Zachery) please update the community and confim that work is actually progressing... coding is happening. It's not 100% required, but a ETA would be nice.

I have looked over all the threads revolving around ucash and ushop and frankly it's easy to see why the original developer was so hacked off.
The original coder was completly taken for granted and 'expected' to deliver.... on top of that the constant demands... the whinging / moaning and the 'do it now' attitudes. "We have to have ushop... we need it... when are you gonna realease it?"... 3 sometimes 4 a day!

It is every developers perogative to charge for development and there is nothing wrong with that... community or not..... time is money. The whole point here is that the author was not charging a penny and you lot had him bang to rights as though you'd bought and paid for it.

I can see why the fun just drained away.... the community just lost their grip on reality and harrased the guy like a little schoolgirl would do her boyfriend after being dumped for the first time.

Obviously, I do not include everyone in those analogies (you know who you are) and I make no apologies for speaking my mind.

Now.... can we all sit tight and wait for some official word from Zachary on this before we go right ahead and take all the fun out of it (de-ja-vu??) for the newly appointed developer (if there is one) and land back in square one.

My two cents

[EDIT - Just saw Chris's sticky.... but the rest of my post applies]

The "original developer" posted that if he did n't have ushop done by the next day, everyone had permission to bash him in the face (or words to that effect)... this was way back in July I believe.

The next time he surfaced on here regarding this, he lashed out at the users... this was quite awhile after he said it would be released the next day.

People were excited, he fed the excitement and then didn't deliver. Hate to say it but he brought it on himself, noone else.

Yep! Second that :)
No matter what hacks I install for my users, they are all raving about being able to donate... give us that christmas present and we will love you for ever!

I am not sure if I will love him for ever 'cause I'm not really gay... :\

Zachery 12-20-2005 08:41 AM

Everyone should be watching the uCS forums :p

Huh? Does it have it's own, special forum too? If so what's the URL address?
