Maybe it is just me, but when I user the inline moderation tools to 'Delete Posts as Spam' and then choose to 'Submit data to Anti-Spam Service' and then proceed to ban the user, everything submits correctly but when I am returned to the thread which contains the post, the cookie 'vbulletin_inlinepost' is not cleared. Same goes for when I 'Delete Threads as Spam'.
I would have to guess that something is causing the problem from a plugin standpoint where it isn't running the setcookie code to clear it. On the forums I am having the problem on, both 'Akismet: Auto-submit from Moderation Tools' and 'StopForumSpam: Auto-submit from Moderation Tools' are set to 'Yes'. Any idea what might be causing this or a possible workaround? Having to go back and uncheck the post/thread adds another annoying step to dealing with spammers. *edit: i did some further testing and it only fails to clear the cookies when 'StopForumSpam: Auto-submit from Moderation Tools' is set to 'Yes'. Setting it to 'No' allows the cookie to be cleared as expected. |
I am not sure mbentley, however I have seen the same behavior on other forums when auto-submit from moderation tools is set to yes. I have to manually select "deselect posts" from the moderation dropdown after I use "Delete as Spam" and it completes processing.
I don't know why its happening either, but the auto-submit is very useful, and a fix would be great. |
VB 3.8.4 Patch Level 2.
Installed and working 100%. One hour and already 12 spammers blocked. |
Its working fine with VB 3.8.7 PL2 .
Three suggestions I have. 1) Have different time settings for email checks as opposed to username/IP checks. The reason being that an email that is created to spam is not likely to be re-purposed for legitimate use while IP addresses and usernames can actually be used legitimately. 2) In the log have options to only show blocked/allowed registrations 3) Log threads/posts that are moderated so its easy to see what threads/posts this plugin is affecting Excellent mod!! |
Just installed on 3.8.3. Posted a couple of test threads. Seems working fine.
Thanks. |

I am having a problem with valid users being blocked, where only the username is picked up as a spammer, but often generic names, like the firstname Ernest. How do I set not to only scan on username, or when people report this how can I whitelist them?
