where do you set usergroup permissions?

I am going to smoke a cig real quick and then install this great mod. I am pretty sure though that in 2.1 you saved the .txt files as .x. So they will not open. I knew to rename the file, but I am not sure if everyone else will (most will though).
I will be back with an update in about an hour or so. cig break, test board, then install. |

For example For footer & header ads go to, AdminCP>vBulletin Options>Advertisement System (header &footer). Then all the way at the bottom it will say. Display Header , Footer & Affliates advertisements to Usergroups: Place usergroups here you want to see the header and footer ads. Do NOT display Header , Footer & Affliates advertisements to Usergroups: Place usergroups here you do not want to see the ads. Although I am not sure why you should need to fill in both. My guess is he gives you both options in case there is only one usergroup you do not want to display ads to. That way you can just fill that in real quick, rather than fill in ALL the ones you do want to see the ads. It will be the same for the other places to have ads. You have to set it for each place you display them. Well I hope this helps you. Please let me or the owner of the mod know if you need any more assistance. |
I am having alittle trouble understanding how all of this works. I have everything installed correctly. That is for sure. I have all the template edits done and in the correct spots.
If I am just trying to install a google ad at the moment, right below the navbar, how do I go about this? I wasn't sure how to do it so I tried the following things. I tried adding the code to the "Google Analytics code" section. That did not work. It showed the ad in the footer. This is with the footer options all turned off. I had the header options turned on and it still displays in the footer. But this was just testing. I was not even sure if I was suppose to put it in the google analytics cide section or not. So I then turned this off and removed the code from there. I know it uses the vb ad management templates. So I added the google code back to the vb template right below the navbar. It nows shows up like it is suppose to. So I go and turn off the header part of the advertisement system. To see if it some how controls the vb templates. The banner still shows with the header part turned off in the advertisement system. I also tried a few other variations, but I cannot seem to get it to work. Is there some one that can explain this to me? I follow directions great. But there are no directions on how to do this. Like I said, I know I have it installed correctly. I know how to follow directions. I now just need help to get a simple google ad displayed. After that I will be able to figure out the rest. Lastly, I cannot figure out how to get the sponsored link to disappear? It really does not look good down there with no links. I am going to have to uninstall this soon if I cannot figure it out. I have alot of users and do not want them seeing that. It looks very unprofessional, as I am sure all of you know. I would greatly appreciate the help. And thanks for your time in advance. |
