1. Require me to coach Farcaster on every single change I've made to BOTH plugins (This mod will never be able to work with the changes I've made to Event Forums, as is).

or 2. Send him the integration plugin in its entirety so he can release it as his own.

So, I'm afraid to say if I even do hear back from Evercraft, I may have to incorporate my own RSVP plugins directly into the Event Forums product. And what's worse is since I've already shared with him most of my original ideas for this mod, I would be accused of copying if both products were to have the same additions. So I would be discouraged from even bothering to release anything at all, and then we're back to where we started.

(Which was me simply redoing both mods in a personal capacity, since they both cause so many problems when working in tandem.)

And on that note I would highly suggest not considering offering integration anymore with the old Event Forums, Farcaster. The mod actually goes back further than Evercraft's involvement, back to 3.5 and maybe even older, and therefore is coded accordingly. I've changed so much at this point, that I don't even remember if everything is sanitized in the correct fashion. Not to mention the 60 extra queries on FORUMDISPLAY, and dozen on SHOWTHREAD.

Sorry to disappoint, guys. At least I tried.

My opinion is that at this point in time this mod is considered abandoned. Yes, we have seen a recent post (six days ago) from Farcaster that he plans to reengage but that was the first we have seen of him in many months. The community has been begging for someone to bring this mod up to current standards and it sounds like you have rewritten a large portion of the MOD, unless I'm missing something. I see many mods on VB that are similar to each other, that's nothing new. Why not scrap the rest of what you borrowed from the other mods, rewrite it in full, add a few new features and release it as your own mod? No hard feelings to anyone but there is a need for this mod and you were passionate enough to try and help. My vote would be for you to finish it up and release it as your own MOD.

First of all, this mod is working properly with 3.6.x, 3.7.x, and 3.8.x. The integration modification that I did some time ago between Evercraft's Event Forums and this one is what is not working. This is 100% because Evercraft has not kept his modification up to date and working with the new versions of vBulletin. I do not have the time, nor do I have the desire to take on the Event Forums modification that Evercraft created. Therein lies the crux of the problem of the Event Forums integration.

Second, if someone wants to write a new version of the RSVP modification from scratch without using any of the code I have written, then they are certainly welcome to do that.

Dear Farcaster,

Do you have the time and desire to create event forums functions for this hack?
This is what many members are waiting for.

He already answered your question in his earlier post.

There is a difference between taking over someone else's modification and expanding your own. I am hoping that farcaster does have the desire for that and thus wants to make time for it.

If not then other coders will have to be found to have such features coded.

IMHO event attendance functions and forum <-> calendar integration supplement each other so much, that many admins will not use one without the other.

Agree. Indeed that's what I am desperately waiting for.

I will look into this and try to get a feel for the level of effort such a modification would take and then I will let you know.

This looks like a great mod. Will this be fully released soon, and is it compatible with 3.7.X?

Jaxel 12-22-2008 07:03 PM

I think this mod does one thing wrong... I dont want to give my members the ability to RSVP to events on the CALENDAR... almost no one on my forum uses the calendar... Someone needs to make a mod that lets people RSVP to a THREAD... this way we won't have to worry about this stupid vbEvents Forum integration bullcrap.
